Lattice (4.6/5, 4,124 reviews): Performance scores 94%, Employee Development 93%, and Career Development 93%, with 1,137 category reviews behind those numbers. Reviewers describe using it daily for 1:1s, goal tracking, and real-time peer feedback, calling out the ability to keep feedback private or shared with a manager.

Leapsome (4.8/5, 2,570 reviews): Performance scores 96%, Employee Development 94%, and Career Development 94%, the highest combined scores in the category. Reviewers describe a centralized place for feedback, performance reviews, and peer recognition, with several noting the initial setup was easy to pick up within days.

It carries major enterprise market presence, but its overall satisfaction (64%) and NPS (negative 17) are the weakest in this comparison. Reviewers describe the interface as clunky, with one noting it can take around 14 clicks just to get an offer out to a candidate.

That changes how much of Lattice or Leapsome's breadth you'd actually use.

Oh for tying performance cycles directly to career development (not just annual reviews), a few names come up. Lattice is very well-regarded, combining performance reviews, goal-setting and career development conversations in one flow so managers aren't juggling separate tools. 15Five is another strong, well-reviewed option, known for lightweight, continuous performance check-ins paired with growth planning. Betterworks focuses specifically on goal-setting (OKRs) tied into performance, useful if development planning centers on measurable objectives. To be real, the difference between these usually comes down to how much emphasis is on the manager-led review cycle versus employee-driven career pathing, so I'd trial with a manager and an employee both to see whose experience matters most to you. Is the priority formal performance cycles, or ongoing career-growth conversations? Some tools genuinely lean harder into one than the other.
