# Recommendations for best tools for automating disaster recovery testing based on G2 Data

Hey everyone,

I’ve been helping a few teams set up better ddisaster recovery testing workflows — the “what if everything breaks at 2 a.m.” kind of prep. While comparing tools, I dug through G2’s feature-level data and reviews to see which ones actually excel at recovery automation and overall reliability.

Here’s what stood out from the latest G2 Grid:

Veeam Data Platform: enterprise favorite for a reason; reliable automation and replication features make DR testing almost painless once it’s set up.

Cove Data Protection: solid for MSPs and IT service teams; scores high for simplicity and ease of use in recovery testing.

IDrive Online and SaaS Backup: great balance of cost and functionality, especially if you’re testing recovery across both SaaS and on-prem workloads.

Datto BCDR: consistently strong across the board, with top ratings for both cloud recovery and automation. It’s built with MSPs in mind but scales well for mid-sized orgs too.

Cohesity: really shines in data replication and ransomware recovery use cases.

Synology Data Protection Solutions: better suited for smaller or hybrid setups; automation features are a bit lighter but still dependable.

I pulled this mainly from G2 feature ratings around recovery automation, replication, and cloud recovery; figured it might save others the same research spiral I went through. Anyone here using these? Would love to hear how they stack up in real-world DR planning.

Anyone here actually automating their DR tests end-to-end? Which tool made that process least painful (and most reliable)?
