Question on: Openkoda Insurtech Platform
[How much customization does the Openkoda platform actually allow?](/discussions/how-much-customization-does-the-openkoda-platform-actually-allow)

Can I modify the data model, business logic, and UI, or am I limited to configuration within preset templates?

Short version: there's no ceiling. Because Openkoda is open-source-based and you own the code, anything in the platform can be changed - data models, workflows, business logic, UI, user roles, access controls, document templates, and integrations. That's a meaningfully different answer than you'll get from most insurance core systems, where "customizable" usually means "configurable within the limits the vendor decided on." The reason it works this way comes down to architecture. Openkoda runs on a standard open-source stack — Java, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, JavaScript - rather than a proprietary scripting language. If you've used Guidewire (Gosu) or a closed development environment, you know the catch: deep customization is possible, but only by working within the vendor's constraints and often only with certified specialists.

Question on: Applied Epic
[What is the best way to implement Best Practices?](/discussions/25557-what-is-the-best-way-to-implement-best-practices)

We really need to track our new busienss and renewal retention and would like any help you may have on this issue!

We use line status to track new business. You probably have a specific line status you use for new business right? This status is available in the production report under the Commission folder and labeled as Transaction Line Status. As for retention, i think it depends on how your agency defines retention. Do you look at the total revenue of the account, the total renewal revenue for the agency or do you consider anything that is renewed in Epic as retained.
