[What are the best cloud FP&A tools for aligning finance with strategic OKRs?](/discussions/what-are-the-best-cloud-fp-a-tools-for-aligning-finance-with-strategic-okrs)

I’m researching the best cloud [FP&A tools](https://www.g2.com/categories/fp-a-financial-planning-analysis) for aligning finance with strategic OKRs, because this is where many planning processes start to break down. Most tools handle budgeting and forecasting well, but tying financial plans directly to company-level objectives (growth targets, efficiency goals, hiring plans) is where things get less consistent.

What I’m trying to understand is which platforms actually help connect financial models to strategic priorities. From what I’ve seen in the FP&A Software category, Drivetrain, Planful, and Anaplan are the three that come up most often in this context. Here’s the broader set I’ve been evaluating:

- [Drivetrain](https://www.g2.com/products/drivetrain-drivetrain/reviews) (4.8/5, 113 reviews): Feels particularly aligned with OKR-driven planning, especially for SaaS companies. Its driver-based models make it easier to connect financial outcomes to operational metrics such as ARR growth, hiring plans, and efficiency targets.
- [Planful](https://www.g2.com/products/planful/reviews) (4.3/5, 491 reviews): More structured in how it handles planning cycles, but still flexible enough to map financial plans to strategic initiatives. It seems useful for teams that want alignment without overly complex modeling.
- [Anaplan](https://www.g2.com/products/anaplan/reviews)(4.6/5, 452 reviews): Probably the most flexible when it comes to modeling complex relationships between financials and strategic goals. The trade-off is that maintaining that alignment often depends on how well the models are built and governed.
- [Workiva](https://www.g2.com/products/workiva-workiva/reviews) (4.5/5, 2,083 reviews): More relevant when OKR alignment needs to extend into reporting and stakeholder communication. It helps connect financial data with narrative and disclosures, which can matter for executive visibility.

For teams that have tried to align FP&A with OKRs, what actually made the biggest difference?

Mosaic is a name that comes up a lot for startups that need real FP&A functionality without the enterprise price tag. Causal is another good fit for early-stage — more accessible for founders who aren't finance-first. Both connect to QuickBooks/Xero without a lot of setup.

[What is the best FP&A system for integrating with netsuite and salesforce without a ton of IT work?](/discussions/what-is-the-best-fp-a-system-for-integrating-with-netsuite-and-salesforce-without-a-ton-of-it-work)

I’m trying to understand what is the best [FP&A system](https://www.g2.com/categories/fp-a-financial-planning-analysis) for integrating with netsuite and salesforce without a ton of IT work? In theory, most platforms “integrate” with both systems. In practice, the real question is how easily teams can bring together financial data and revenue pipeline data into one planning model without relying on custom pipelines, constant maintenance, or manual reconciliation.

From what I’ve seen, LiveFlow, Drivetrain, and Datarails are often highlighted for ease of integration. Here’s the broader set I have been evaluating:

- [LiveFlow](https://www.g2.com/products/liveflow/reviews): Designed for direct integration with accounting systems like NetSuite, making it a strong option for teams that want fast setup and real-time syncing.
- [Drivetrain](https://www.g2.com/products/drivetrain-drivetrain/reviews): Offers integrations with both financial and SaaS tools, which makes it useful for connecting revenue and financial planning data.
- [Planful](https://www.g2.com/products/planful/reviews): A solid option for structured integrations with both ERP and CRM systems. It’s more traditional, but seems reliable for teams that want stability and governed data flows.
- [OneStream](https://www.g2.com/products/onestream-unified-epm/reviews): Likely the most powerful from an integration standpoint, especially in enterprise environments. The trade-off is that it may require more setup and technical involvement upfront.

For teams running both NetSuite and Salesforce, what’s been harder to manage over time: the integration itself, or making sure both systems tell the same story?

Almost all of tools like Adaptive, OneStream, Pigment, Cube, Aleph, Planful, Datarails, Abacum “link” to NetSuite. What exactly are we looking at here?

From what I’ve seen, integrations tend to work well initially, but the real challenge shows up in keeping financial and CRM data aligned as both systems evolve over time.

[What are the top financial planning and analysis tools for startups that want board ready reporting and dashboards?](/discussions/what-are-the-top-financial-planning-and-analysis-tools-for-startups-that-want-board-ready-reporting-and-dashboards)

I’m researching what are the top financial planning and analysis tools for startups that want board ready reporting and dashboards? What stands out is that some tools are better at modeling, while others focus more on reporting and presentation. For startups, the question seems to be how quickly insights can be turned into something board-ready without a lot of manual work.

From the [FP&A Software category](https://www.g2.com/categories/fp-a-financial-planning-analysis), LiveFlow, Datarails, and Workiva are the three I’d surface first. Here’s the broader list:

- [LiveFlow](https://www.g2.com/products/liveflow/reviews): Strong for startups that want real-time financial data synced into reporting dashboards. It reduces manual reporting effort, especially for recurring board updates.
- [Datarails](https://www.g2.com/products/datarails/reviews): Useful for turning Excel-based models into automated reports and dashboards without fully changing workflows.
- [Workiva](https://www.g2.com/products/workiva-workiva/reviews): More compelling when reporting needs to meet higher standards (e.g., investor or compliance reporting), though it may be more than early-stage teams need.
- [Drivetrain](https://www.g2.com/products/drivetrain-drivetrain/reviews): Works well when board reporting is closely tied to forward-looking SaaS metrics and scenarios.
- [Planful](https://www.g2.com/products/planful/reviews): A more structured option for startups preparing to scale their reporting processes.

For startup teams, what makes reporting “board-ready” in practice?

Top financial planning and analysis (FP&A) tools for startups seeking board-ready reporting include Cube, Mosaic, and Datarails. For deeper, specialized modeling and visual storytelling, tools like Fathom, Pigment, and Abacum excel, while Vena Solutions offers deep Microsoft Excel integration.

Answered: Soundarya Jayaraman on May 2, 2026

Curious how others approach this, do you rely more on automated dashboards, or do you still build custom board decks on top of them?
