Instance Orchestrator uses an opt-in design; it only executes on Auto-Scaling groups or individual instances that have explicitly been enabled via an AWS tag. We are running a large set of EC2 instances across several regions - overall, it exceeds 5000 nodes daily. XOSphere helps us to leverage the spot and realize significant savings daily. The support team is very responsive and helpful. **What do you dislike about Xosphere Instance Orchestrator?** Since it is a newer product, there are learning and pain points. However, the team is highly responsive to these issues. Despite not enjoying these issues, I like that they are constantly fixing and improving the product and care about our experience **What problems is Xosphere Instance Orchestrator solving and how is that benefiting you?** Xosphere helps us with our cost management. Install it, tag some instances, and save money without even trying. It addresses a specific problem in a simple, non-invasive way, with close to zero operational overhead. Aside from the technical benefits, we also like the pay-as-you-go licensing model. This allows us to increase or decrease as needed without having to worry about capacity planning. And there's no vendor lock - if AWS or another vendor comes up with a better solution, we always have the option to uninstall without any risk of operational impact, contract violation, or cost risk. **What do you dislike about Xosphere Instance Orchestrator?** There was a bug in an earlier version that was causing a large number of queries to the AWS API, which contributed to our rate limit. In some cases, it was causing throttling to occur, which resulted in various delays within Xosphere Instance Orchestrator and other internal processes that were talking to those APIs. We submitted a support ticket, and Xosphere fixed the bug in the next version, which was released a few days later. **What problems is Xosphere Instance Orchestrator solving and how is that benefiting you?** We all have instances that need to run, and those cost money. We also know that using spot instances can save us up to 90% on instance costs. And although AWS has some options available, none of them seem to fit quite right. We have enough things to do in our day-to-day without doing a deep-dive on AWS every time they release a new version of a product. Should we re-create the autoscale group? What are the nuances between launch configurations and launch templates? What's new in EC2 Fleet, how does it differ from spot fleet, and how does each one work with autoscaling? We like keeping things simple - we already have autoscaling groups, and all we want is just 2 or 3 options to say: "Hey, run some of these instances as spot instances and save me some money." This simplicity is where Xosphere Instance Orchestrator shines. Just set a few tags on the autoscaling group, and it handles the rest.
