I love the flexibility of themes and the fact that you can find any design required for the given project. This is also cost-effective when working for small business websites. Usually, they are very generic looking and do not represent the real capability of design possibilities. And some free themes do not include any documentation. Recommendations to others considering WordPress themes: I would recommend that whenever you need a new theme, start with the default official themes and then check the freeware themes which also offer a pro version. Specifically, when you have to convert a PSD design, you can usually select a theme which covers all important elements. Write some custom CSS on top of that and you are good to go. WordPress themes provide great basic level website to begin with, and a consistent well built UI to begin with. Not all wordpress themes are great, but some great companies like ThemeIsle etc make really wondeful themes. I have personally used quite a lot of themes from them, I have used Hestia, Neve, Shopisle and a lot more from other companies too such as Parralax and Infinity. These themes give us a really strong foundation as a baseline to build further, they develop there code to ensure that its easy to customize the site, with the help of a simple child theme, and provide additional functions just for Child theme, which is a heaven for a programmer. Sometimes they add unnecessary features, and JS codes that I dont need and as a result they slow down the site, most basic/default wordpress themes are fine, but when you go for advanced themes for specific purpose, such as WooCommerce themes, these issus can come often. Sometimes other small things can cause massive trouble, the other day I was using a theme which was really good, however the thumbnail displayed on my the blogs were of full size, that added unnecessary weight to the page size, considering the thumbnail images were taking really small area, they should have used a small size of thumbnail for better performance. These things are easy to change if you arent using Theme, but with a theme these things definitely become difficult sometimes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. Recommendations to others considering WordPress themes: I recommend, people to always check the developer of the word press theme, a good developer means, that you got updates for a long time, and the coders who built this teams would have followed greatest precautions and care in fine tuning it. WordPress themes prevent a lot of hastle, as an small sized site owner, it is difficult to maintain and keep each and every thing about my site upto date. They provide frequent updates, that keep improving, changing UI is a breeze with their advanced tools. Plus some themes might give custom professional wordpress templates for page builders such as Elementor, that make work easy. Many a times some themes also make plugins to accompany them, for example, I have used Ultimate member plugin for user registerations on one of my client site, while it is a great plugin, and when I initially got it, it was good enough, they later launched there Ultimate Member theme, with really great features, to make the site loook like a social media site, and have things like Profile pic in the menu itself.
