Watershed is more than a software tool - they're a true partner. As someone new to ESG and environmental compliance, the hands-on, human support has been invaluable. My customer rep provides high-level guidance, answers every question, connects me with experts, and even sends personalized Loom videos walking me through the platform. The software itself is intuitive and easy to use, with great visibility into your emissions footprint. The reporting tool is especially helpful for first-time reporting, and their webinars and regulatory newsletters keep you current as the landscape evolves. The main area for improvement would be deeper API integrations with key ERP/FRP systems like Workday. From the start, the required data inputs are clearly laid out, which immediately answers many of the questions you tend to get from internal teams who don’t fully understand what you’re asking for and just want a template to complete. Figuring out what happened on the backend can at times be fiddly or unclear. E.g. the data lineage in the Drilldown view will show how a calculation was derived, but often when clicking into the detailed view, the data is broken out into groups that are difficult to match to the data input. Previously, we were calculating our inventory in a spreadsheet which was prone to errors and time consuming to fix or change if errors were found. We now have a reliable software that runs the calculations from reputable sources and gives us a sense of reliability and credibility which helps when fielding questions from internal stakeholders about changes to our emissions over time. Watershed has been extremely helpful in addressing a wide range of questions and concerns, both within and outside the platform, through their representatives, webinars, and learning hub. What do you dislike about Watershed? The platform has few downsides overall. It’s mostly very user-friendly, and any issues you might run into are often addressed in the Learning Hub. If something is more specific, you can also discuss the issue with a representative. Watershed employees are very helpful, and usually no ask is too big or too small. The platform can do a lot and is always improving. The newly added AI feature will also be very helpful as it continues to improve and as we learn how to integrate it. The delays on things aren't too long despite the amount of data being processed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Watershed? The platform can be a bit clunky and not intuitive, there is a lot going on in every screen. Particularly when inputting data, the date format in the templates provided then isn't approved by the platform when you submit so it's a bit of guess work as to how the platform wants dates input. Also you have to be specific when naming things in the data e.g. use, unit, etc, whereas with all the AI features I think the platform should be better at estimating what was input and relating it to what it thinks should be there. Also lacks some of the very basics that we would want such as a single home dashboard with summary statistics that can be found and pulled out immediately if needed, for example if a client asked about out % change in carbon emissions between X and Y year, we shouldn't have to go into a footprint drill down to find that Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. The team that we work with. They are responsive, flexible to our needs, engaged and subject matter experts. They are an extension of our team. I use Watershed for our carbon accounting, and it really solves our GHG emissions issues by providing a platform where we don't have to do anything manually for estimations. I like that it keeps all of our site data centralized, which helps with various use cases. With Watershed, I can quickly do a utility data export that lists all sites with data for a specific period, which is quite helpful. One of the main things I appreciate is how it manages all our carbon accounting and GHG emissions in one place with an easy export. I can manage these exports quickly and easily, and they are especially helpful for our sustainability reports. I also find the ease of gathering exports for electricity usage beneficial. Watershed has cut down the time to complete carbon footprints from many months, to a matter of weeks. It removs the need for complicated spreadsheets and researching emissions factors, and means that all I need to focus on is collecting data. What I like most about Watershed is how receptive the team (Bobby + Product team) is to our feedback and how quickly things can move based on this feedback and the regulatory landscape. While we are figuring out how to best utilize AI for data collection and calculations, it's great to know that Watershed is already doing a lot on that end, positioning themselves as experts in the space. It's always appreciated when advisers are open to feedback. Additionally, the expertise and contant conversation around methodology and documentation has helped us be more agile and prepared for questions from Management. Given that Watershed does have its own methodology and there's a lot of assumptions already built into the platform, sometimes we struggle with tailoring it to what would best for us as an organization. Understandably Watershed is used as a platform for many companies. However, when we're thinking about using supplier specific emission factors, sometimes it can be difficult to upload our own methodology and there have been a few times where we've had to manually perform caculation workarounds of when we want upload data. Watershed is an immensely robust system that supports tracking and reporting on a staggering amount of data. What I like most about the platform is that, as a user, I can choose to abstract away the details or drill down into them as needed. That flexibility makes it well suited to whatever conversation I’m having, whether it’s with analysts who want depth or executives who need a higher-level view. In some cases, I think Watershed struggles to organize information in an intuitive way, which can make it harder to share the platform with other team members. It makes it easy to upload and store GHG data, and it simplifies emissions calculations. I also appreciate that it includes the latest research and emission factors, along with strong auditability, so I feel confident we’re using the best emission factors available to us. We also like having full ownership of both the data inputs and the final calculation files. What do you dislike about Watershed? The support center chat has a lot of issues, and problems often aren’t triaged correctly. The support teams also seem to be located abroad, which can lead to delays in getting questions answered. When we do get a response, the support team frequently points us to generic support articles that don’t always address what we’re asking. At times, we also receive generic AI-style replies that feel very obviously automated and don’t really engage with our specific questions. Ultimately in terms of support we would like to engage in conversations and get watershed's perspective rather than using a self service product support chat Pricing is also very expensive compared to competitors. The packaged pricing model isn’t a great fit for us because we don’t use all of the products included in the bundle.
