## Watermark Student Learning & Licensure Reviews
 ### 1. Using Watermark SLL for three years now.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** John H. | Assessment Coordinator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 24, 2025

**What do you like best about Watermark Student Learning & Licensure?**

Report running is relatively easy, and tracking students across different semesters and placements is easy and useful.

**What do you dislike about Watermark Student Learning & Licensure?**

I have no control over what data is generated in any report. Instead, I get all the data associated with a student, even if I have no need for that data in a report. And the techs indicate that this is not going to be available in the immediate future. As a result, whenever I run a report, I am able to include information (but it's really the information already selected by the designers), but if there is an unwanted category, I have to spend time stripping it out of the report.

**What problems is Watermark Student Learning & Licensure solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am not current on what they are doing at this point to improve. I do like the feature by which I can contribute suggestions and see where those ideas are in any planning (such as indicating that others have raised the same concern and, with a critical mass, the issue or suggested improvement is moving up the ladder of priority).

 ### 2. SL&L has lived up to its billing

Faculty benefit from the platform’s customizable rubrics, user-friendly interface, and access to real-time data for assessment and curriculum improvement. It simplifies grading, enhances feedback consistency, and supports meaningful reflection on student learning outcomes.

From the student perspective, Watermark offers a clear and organized way to manage coursework, field experiences, and licensure documentation. Its intuitive design helps reduce stress and empowers students to take ownership of their progress toward professional readiness.

Overall, Watermark Student Learning & Licensure is a powerful, comprehensive tool that enhances academic quality, supports continuous improvement, and fosters student success at every level.

 ### 3. Watermark SL&L for Assessment

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chike O. | Instructional Designer, Higher Education, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Watermark Student Learning & Licensure?**

Watermark SL&L is a great tool for student summative assessment because of its easy to use and intuitive interface. It is also easy to onboard faculty members and train them on using the tool. Students typically do not require training because of the intuitive nature of the application. Most importantly, the Watermark SL&L support team are very friendly and always available to help troubleshoot and fix any reported issue(s), making it easy for my institution to keep using it on a large scale. The application integrates seamlessly with our LMS, including grade syncing. We are now in the second year of our use of Watermark SL&L, GSE-wise (Graduate School of Education).

**What do you dislike about Watermark Student Learning & Licensure?**

The downside is that Watermark SL&L requires heavy lifting for first time set up of the application. Building out all the standards, rubrics, and assessment templates is a bit burdensome and time consuming. However, once done, it is smooth sailing. Also, the Watermark SL&L team offered to help with building out the initial standards and rubrics, which was incredibly helpful for our product launch.

**What problems is Watermark Student Learning & Licensure solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Watermark SL&L for our candidates' key program assessments. We use the data derived from these assessments for accreditation reporting.

 ### 4. Great ePortfolio and assessment tool!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David K. | Chair of the Department of Human Services and Cultural Studies, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 04, 2025

**What do you like best about Watermark Student Learning & Licensure?**

As the title suggests, I like its ePortfolio feature and the ways that it helps with assessment. The ePortfolio tool is easy to use with its drag-and-drop interface. I've incorporated this into classes and into our program's Capstone course, where all students create public-facing ePortfolios connecting their career, academic, and personal interests. It's easy to use for faculty and students.

For assessment, SL&L has really helped us implement and review measures of student leraning. We've developed seamless processes for easily integrating the uploading, evaluation, and analysis of student artifacts in our program. I write annual program reviews every year, and collecting and reporting the student learning data has become easier thanks to SL&L.

**What do you dislike about Watermark Student Learning & Licensure?**

There is a learning curve to the tools, particularly around the terminology for various actions. This can be confusing for students doing the ePortfolios (but once they learn terminology, it's easy), and it's definitely confusing for faculty doing assessment. I am good at training though, and Watermark's customer support is excellent, so we get there!

**What problems is Watermark Student Learning & Licensure solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We used to not have Capstone students do an ePortfolio. They did a research paper instead. Thanks to SL&L, we've got a much better, more relevant Capstone project for them. We also assess the ePortfolio and half a dozen other measures using SL&L. Before SL&L, all assessments were done manually, so the ease of use and coordination that this allows between assessors is great. Then, for me, as the person who analyzes and writes up the assessment data, it's so easy to see it all here and have it visualized that my reports are more straightforward to write.

 ### 5. best assessment management software available

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amy K. | Associate Dean, College Effectiveness, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 04, 2025

**What do you like best about Watermark Student Learning & Licensure?**

SL&L allows us to track our assessment data and run reports by a number of factors including by standards, race/ethcity, semester, program, faculty, etc. This is essential for program improvement as well as for accreditation. Implementation was supported by the Watermark team and integrated with our student information system and learning management system. We use it every day.

**What do you dislike about Watermark Student Learning & Licensure?**

SL&L could use improvement in how they support student time sheets for non-education programs such as Counseling and School Counseling. We have identified a couple of improvements such as multiple time sheet categories and the ability for students to track their hours in real time, which are both needed as we pursue CACREP accreditation.

**What problems is Watermark Student Learning & Licensure solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Collecting data that can document our assessment processes for national accreditation.

 ### 6. Efficient, Easy to learn, Excellent Outcomes

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 25, 2025

**What do you like best about Watermark Student Learning & Licensure?**

I like how simple and easy the interface is to use. As with anything new, it may take time to understand the ins-and-outs of the software, but once you know how to use it, it is seamless. When used for the purposes of our university, all relevant stakeholders are able to use it with very little issue. There are a number of features in regards to student licensure, such as assignment tracking or hour logs for credentialing purposes.

The customer support has also been top notch in resolving issues quickly and helpful in guiding our use as well.

**What do you dislike about Watermark Student Learning & Licensure?**

The only downside is sometimes new updates or releases are, in my opinion, not necessary. Why reinvent the wheel?

**What problems is Watermark Student Learning & Licensure solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It just makes student credentialing purposes much more streamlined, it allows all stakeholders to be involved no matter what level they are at. There may have been some growing pains as with anything when moving to a new system, but it's very easy to learn and everyone seems to have a good grasp on the product almost a year in now.

It has just made keeping track of submissions easier, the data extractions are essential in monitoring student progress.

 ### 7. Good Product for Program Assessment

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Watermark Student Learning & Licensure?**

Watermark's SL&L is, overall, a user-friendly product. From the administrative end (my primary role), it is easy to create rubrics and assessments, run reports, connect data to courses in Canvas, assign assessments and tasks to various courses, and more. It's fairly easy for instructors and students to navigate, including uploading assignments, self-assessing, faculty assessing, and keeping track of student progress and assessment scoring completion. We use it for edTPA uploading (also a pretty easy process that's connected with Pearson) and are starting to try out ePortfolios in the following years. The best feature is attaching any sets of content standards to rubric lines to run reports of program candidate proficiency on individual standards. Having come from Livetex C1, it's a dream compared to that. Help support is responsive, and I've seen a lot of user-generated ideas that turn into SL&L updates over the years, so it continues to be a better product for users in higher education.

**What do you dislike about Watermark Student Learning & Licensure?**

There are some issues with being able to hide or delete old versions of templates, so the template feature can get crowded and overloaded with old assessments. The functionality of the ePortfolio template is extremely limited, particularly comparing it to the rest of the platform. There is very little that can be modified, and it seems clunky. You can modify colors and add images, but the bulk of what you might want to do to make it more manageable isn't currently possible, from what I've found. You can't adjust the font of text in the portfolio section labels, you can't add lines or sections to separate portions of portfolio pages, and you can't view it as a student to see how the end product would look during the design. It ends up looking primitive and awkward compared to the rest of the SL&L features.

**What problems is Watermark Student Learning & Licensure solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps me gather course-embedded data and run reports by rubric and standard for state and national agencies.

 ### 8. Assessment Projects is a straightforward and user-friendly system of collective review.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Watermark Student Learning & Licensure?**

We use SL&L for the Assessment Projects (AP) component. AP provides a user-friendly and straightforward way to gather student artifacts, evaluate learning, and create reports. Implementation is quick and relatively straightforward compared to other systems and the support team has been first-rate.

**What do you dislike about Watermark Student Learning & Licensure?**

Assessment Projects (AP) is missing just a couple of key features that would be significant on the administrative side. However, the development team is constantly making enhancements and we have no doubt that new features will be released in this areas.

**What problems is Watermark Student Learning & Licensure solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The Assessment Projects (AP) module is providing us with the tools to effectively and efficiently evaluate our general education program. The LMS integration significantly reduces administrative person-hours and allows our team to focus on more critical components of the assessment process. And, the reporting features provide straightforward data that can be easily shared and used for decision-making.

 ### 9. Review of Watermark's Student Learning and Liscensure

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Stephanie L. | Instructional Designer and Course Developer (and also Assessment Analyst), Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 04, 2025

**What do you like best about Watermark Student Learning & Licensure?**

From a faculty point of view, we've found Watermark's SL&L to be fairly streamlined when completing assessment. SSO log in has been a game changer - faculty (and students) can quickly log in with their school credentials. We can train faculty to use the platform with a short video (instead of needed F2F sessions as the process was complicated to find assessment).

As an admin, once data has been entered, reporting is a breeze. I build a report, then can easily update each semester to pull the needed data. Our previous AMS took me hours per report - having to combine multiple csv files then use pivot tables and formulas to calculate data. What would take me a week of tedious work can now be finished in an hour or two.

**What do you dislike about Watermark Student Learning & Licensure?**

From an admin point of view, SL&L is not always super intuitive nor is it always the most user friendly. There is a high learning curve, and it's easy to get lost in the various areas to visit or number of clicks needed to complete or find basics. All of the moving back and forth make it easy to lose track of what is needed to be done/edited.

Customer support is OK and seems to be improving – however if something is going wrong, it can take a lot of time and back and forth to resolve. Also I sometimes feel like I'm ping-ponging between areas in Watermark to get something resolved. Especially after graduating out of implementation, and losing access to a dedicated/ more advanced support person to work with.

**What problems is Watermark Student Learning & Licensure solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Watermark captures assessment data and makes reporting quick and efficient. Once things are set up properly, it's fairly easy for faculty to complete their data entry. And reporting, once built, takes only minutes to update each semester/school year. To me as an admin, the benefits we've experienced from these two areas had made any extra work behind the scenes worth it.

 ### 10. Tracking student learning & outcomes in Watermark =robust data collection for continuous improvement

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Charity D. | Member Board Of Trustees, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 04, 2025

**What do you like best about Watermark Student Learning & Licensure?**

Tracking student learning and outcomes is more critical than ever before, and utilizing Watermark facilitates robust data collection that prompts continuous program improvement. Where the certification program is large or small, using Watermark helps with 1) systematically managing field experiences and placements; 2) streamlining grading an assessment for faculty; 3) embedding key program assessments in the LMS that are very easy to use. Most importantly, users who often typically have to engage with 5 plus digital data systems (banner, CRMs, Tableau, Qualtrics) can breath a sigh of relief that Watermake brings together so much data into one compehenisve system. It is already helping us identify places where our assessment processes can be better streamlined.

**What do you dislike about Watermark Student Learning & Licensure?**

They need a back button! Seriously, there is nothing really that I dislike, and while set up takes time, it is intuitive and the Watermark team is responsive to any requests for additional assistance and they check in regularly on progress.

**What problems is Watermark Student Learning & Licensure solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Organizing data in one place
Revealing that our data can be more meaningful after doing inter-rater reliability

 ### 11. It was very helpful during my student teaching experience.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tylee H. | Educator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Watermark Student Learning & Licensure?**

I like Watermark Student Learning & Licensure because it provides practical training and supportive mentorship to help future educators succeed.

**What do you dislike about Watermark Student Learning & Licensure?**

I find that some parts of the program could be more streamlined or flexible to better fit different learning styles.

**What problems is Watermark Student Learning & Licensure solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Watermark Student Learning & Licensure addresses the need for comprehensive, practical training for future educators. This benefits me by providing clear guidance and resources to develop my teaching skills, helping me feel more prepared and confident in my career.

 ### 12. Unsupportive, software does not work as promised

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Donna B. | Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Watermark Student Learning & Licensure?**

Format is user friendly and easy to navigate.

**What do you dislike about Watermark Student Learning & Licensure?**

It does not work as intended for our purposes. We cannot connect applications to students, cannot connect people to processes. It just simply does not work. In order to submit a request for change it must go through a lengthy process. We're paying a lot of money for little support.

**What problems is Watermark Student Learning & Licensure solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Data system for educator preparation, housing admission records, observations, student information, etc. to support compliance and accountability.

 ### 13. Watermark SL&L as an Administrator

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mike J. | Enterprise Applications Administrator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Watermark Student Learning & Licensure?**

Watermark SL&L offers great customer support when I need it and the tools it offers make it very easy to manage our userbase. It was also very easy to integrate into our Brightspace environment. The implementation team was very helpful in getting everything set up!

**What do you dislike about Watermark Student Learning & Licensure?**

We haven't had any complaints so far from our userbase regarding SL&L. Great start!

**What problems is Watermark Student Learning & Licensure solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our faculty needed a replacement for our previous software, and SL&L was our best option.

 ### 14. Watermark Student Learning & Licensure review

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Josh T. | Visiting Scholar, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Watermark Student Learning & Licensure?**

Everything is online and very easy to access. The security seems very robust, which can be a potential problem with this sort of content (i.e., assessment of students). The content is appropriate for whatever field of study or licensure is needed so everything is very versatile. Customer support is rarely needed, but is readily available and well informed.

**What do you dislike about Watermark Student Learning & Licensure?**

Nothing that I can think of. Frankly, there are no viable competitors for this particular application. Perhaps then the only downside is feeling locked into Watermark.

**What problems is Watermark Student Learning & Licensure solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Assessing students preparation for entry into Allied Health programs.

 ### 15. Good system for collecting assessment data, but has a drawback.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 11, 2025

**What do you like best about Watermark Student Learning & Licensure?**

Student Learning and Licensure has streamlined our data collection process. Some of its strengths are the ease of faculty completing assessments and quickly determining which assessments are outstanding. Reporting is relatively robust, with numerous features that allow you to disaggregate by term, program, gender, race and ethnicity.

**What do you dislike about Watermark Student Learning & Licensure?**

My only dislike concerning the system are the extracts or data exports. Exported rubric data separates each criterion on a separate row instead of using columns. For example, if you export data for three students, and the rubric has 10 criteria, the Excel file you received would have a total of 30 rows (3 students X 10 Criteria) . In our previous software the this would be represented by only three rows. In an extreme example, I exported data from a single rubric data for around 60 student and the data file was 1200 rows long. This does not allow for analysis outside of the system.

**What problems is Watermark Student Learning & Licensure solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Student Learning and licensure has helped greatly with our data collection.

 ### 16. Review of the Watermark Student Learning & Licensure

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Watermark Student Learning & Licensure?**

Easy access, help organizing and keeping track of student work, support building e-portfolio, help with program accreditation

**What do you dislike about Watermark Student Learning & Licensure?**

Cost, not fully integrated into the Learning Management System (LMS) the program is currently using

**What problems is Watermark Student Learning & Licensure solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Data collection across courses for program accreditation: Watermark Student Learning & Licensure makes it possible

 ### 17. Works for Student Teaching programs

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sean N. | Learning & Technology Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Watermark Student Learning & Licensure?**

Watermark works great for scalability and improving student learning in online courses. It particularly has been great for us with regard to eportfolios and peer assessment; two things very hard to do at scale! It also integrates with Canvas LMS which is huge!

**What do you dislike about Watermark Student Learning & Licensure?**

It can be difficult for students to adjust to initially.

**What problems is Watermark Student Learning & Licensure solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Scale for problem-based learning and learner engagement

 ### 19. Heavily skewed to Education

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 18, 2025

**What do you like best about Watermark Student Learning & Licensure?**

Allows us to store data and create reports for accreditation

**What do you dislike about Watermark Student Learning & Licensure?**

SLL is an improvement over manual processes, but it is clunky, does not always integrate well with other Watermark products and is not intuitive. You must learn its quirks.

**What problems is Watermark Student Learning & Licensure solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Provides a consistent process for competency assessment and report generation. Makes the assessment process more consistent.
