Recommendations to others considering VideoLan: I think very few only would not have used VideoLan until now. But if you are that few, don't wait and get used to this video player. Over my career, we have had a lot of meeting recordings and they have also evolved over time. Firstly the recording formats were cisco based, then skype came and now zoom or MS teams. I get frustrated by all of the proprietary and other video playback mechanisms (Quicktime, Windows Media Player, DVD Player, etc.), let alone the sometimes clunky playback within a lot of the video editors. So, when I have an external disc with video or an mp4, or even audio (disc, mp3) and, even, streaming that I want to open, VLC is my first, one-stop go-to. It's just easier than juggling a bunch of different playback software, depending on the format! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about VideoLan? I do wish VLC had a 10-15 second FastForward/rewind button like one sees on the Prime Player, CBC Gem and on some other media and streaming playback engines. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. Saves me time, saves me Apple dock space (because I don't have to have each individual player parked on it) and saves me frustration.
