"Easy Way to Add AI Features to Web Apps"
3.5/5
What do you like best about Vercel AI SDK?

I’ve been using the Vercel SDK and honestly, the experience has been pretty good so far. The setup is simple, and I didn’t have to spend a lot of time dealing with complicated configurations.

What I like most is how smoothly it works with modern web apps, especially Next.js. The documentation is also helpful when you get stuck, and deploying changes through Vercel is really quick and convenient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Vercel AI SDK?

The main thing I dislike is that some of the advanced features can be a little confusing at first, especially when you're new to Vercel. Pricing can also become a concern as the project grows and you start using more resources. Apart from that, I haven't faced any major issues so far. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A Flexible and Developer-Friendly SDK for Building AI Applications"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Vercel AI SDK?

What I like best about Vercel AI SDK is its simplicity and flexibility. It provides a unified API for working with different AI models, making it easy to switch between providers without rewriting much code. I also like the built-in support for streaming, structured outputs, tool calling, and AI agents, which makes it much faster to build and prototype AI-powered applications. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Vercel AI SDK?

What I dislike about Vercel AI SDK is that its rapid development can make upgrades and version changes somewhat challenging. Major releases may introduce breaking API changes, and some migrations require code modifications even when codemods are available. This can add extra maintenance effort, especially for projects that need long-term stability. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Build Production-Ready AI Apps Fast with Easy LLM Switching"
4/5
What do you like best about Vercel AI SDK?

What I like best is how it eliminates complex infrastructure boilerplate—like server-sent events (SSE), streaming state management, and multi-provider lock-in, so you can build production-ready AI applications in minutes. You can switch underlying large models (LLMs), from OpenAI to Anthropic, Google Generative AI, or xAI Grok, by changing just two lines of code. Functions like generateText and streamText look the same whether you’re calling a cloud-hosted frontier model or a local model. I also like the community adapters and the thriving registry, which allow the community to build custom adapters for almost any emergent model provider. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Vercel AI SDK?

while the vercel AI SDK is incredibly powerful working with it day to day there are a few architecture trade-offs, pain points, and areas of friction that can be frustrating.

the SDK is technically framework agnostic but the documentation, features and optimal developer experience heavily favor Next.js and vercel infrastructure.

Running complex multistep agent workflows on edge functions can easily hit deployment timeout limits(like vercel's free/pro tier caps) forcing you to refactor to traditional serverless or container environments.

The AI landscape changes weekly meaning the SDK undergoes frequent API updates.

Moving between major versions requires re-writing legacy code bases making long term maintenance of production application highly demanding. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Vercel AI SDK: TypeScript-First DX for Streaming, Tools, and Structured Outputs"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Vercel AI SDK?

Vercel AI SDK makes it much easier to build AI-powered features into modern web applications. The developer experience is excellent, particularly when working with streaming responses, tool calling, and structured outputs. I also like how it lets you integrate different AI providers without having to deal with provider-specific APIs throughout the codebase. Its TypeScript-first approach feels natural and production-ready. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Vercel AI SDK?

The ecosystem moves quickly, so APIs and recommended patterns can shift from one version to the next. Some of the more advanced features may also take a bit of time to grasp, especially if you’re new to AI application development. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Powerful SDK for Building AI Applications"
5/5
What do you like best about Vercel AI SDK?

Vercel AI SDK makes AI application development much faster with its simple API, streaming support, and seamless Next.js integration. I especially like the consistent interface across multiple AI providers, which makes it easier to test and switch models without rewriting large parts of the application. The streaming capabilities help create more responsive AI experiences and improve overall performance. The straightforward setup also keeps onboarding relatively quick, while the flexible approach can provide good value compared with building and maintaining separate integrations for different AI providers. Overall, it simplifies development and makes it easier to build, iterate, and scale AI features efficiently. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Vercel AI SDK?

One area that could be improved is the overall developer experience for more advanced use cases. While the SDK is straightforward for basic integrations, the workflow can feel less intuitive when working with complex configurations, streaming responses, or multiple providers. Clearer UI patterns in developer tools, more guided setup flows, and better visibility into errors and configuration issues would make the experience easier to navigate, especially for developers who are new to AI development. "Unified APIs Make Building AI Apps Fast Across LLM Providers"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Vercel AI SDK?

Makes building AI-powered apps so much easier with unified APIs across different LLM providers. Streaming responses work great out of the box, and switching between models like OpenAI or Anthropic takes minutes, not hours. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Vercel AI SDK?

Documentation can lag behind new releases, so newer features sometimes require digging through GitHub issues. Also, error handling could be clearer since some provider-specific errors are hard to debug at first. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Fast & Easy to Build , Simple to Integrate . Powerful for AI Apps."
4/5
What do you like best about Vercel AI SDK?

The thing I like most is how straightforward it is to stream AI responses into the UI. The React hooks and UI utilities remove a lot of the boilerplate I'd otherwise have to write myself.

I also like the unified approach to working with different model providers. Switching between providers such as OpenAI and Anthropic is relatively painless compared with maintaining separate integrations for each provider.

The documentation, examples, and TypeScript support also make it fairly quick to get a basic AI feature running. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Vercel AI SDK?

The SDK can feel more complicated when moving beyond basic chat and text generation into advanced tool calling, streaming states, error handling, and more complex agent workflows.

The ecosystem also moves quickly, so keeping up with API changes and major-version updates can require some refactoring. Some advanced use cases require digging deeper into the documentation or source code rather than relying only on the basic examples. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Vercel AI SDK?

It gives a clean, unified API to work with multiple LLM providers without rewriting code for each one. Streaming responses and React hooks make building AI features fast and painless. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Vercel AI SDK?

Docs can lag behind the pace of updates, so newer features sometimes feel under-explained. Breaking changes between versions also show up more often than I'd like, which means extra time spent fixing things after an upgrade. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Smooth Real-Time Streaming and Effortless AI Switching in One Powerful Package"
5/5
What do you like best about Vercel AI SDK?

What I like best is how it handles the whole package without making things complicated. On the UI/UX and performance side, the real-time streaming is super smooth and snappy, and hooks like useChat save you days of fighting with UI state. The onboarding is incredibly easy too because the docs have great examples that get you up and running in minutes.

What really blows me away though is the integration and AI capability—being able to switch between OpenAI, Gemini, or Claude with just one line of code is a game-changer, and features like tool calling and structured JSON output make the AI feel genuinely smart. Plus, from a pricing and ROI perspective, it’s open-source and lets you use your own API keys, which saves an insane amount of development hours without locking you into some expensive ecosystem. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Vercel AI SDK?

If I have to talk about what I dislike, the main thing is that it moves incredibly fast, so breaking changes between versions can sometimes be a bit frustrating to keep up with. Also, while the onboarding for basic chat features is super smooth, the documentation can get a bit confusing or sparse when you try to dive into more advanced stuff like complex multi-step agents or custom middleware. Lastly, because it's so tightly optimized for Vercel and Next.js, using it with other frameworks or purely non-Vercel environments sometimes feels like you're fighting the ecosystem a bit, and you don't get that same seamless 'magic' experience everywhere.
