Urban Human Resources Reviews & Provider Details

Headline: Fractional HR Partner and Compliance Risk Strategy for High-Growth Startups & Nonprofits Overview: Urban Human Resources is a premier fractional HR consulting firm designed specifically to protect and scale the organizations "the system reads last." We partner with Bay Area startups, minority-owned businesses, and nonprofits managing 10 to 150 employees to engineer airtight HR foundations before a costly penalty, wage claim, or star-employee resignation forces your hand. Led by McKinley Malbrough III—holding a Juris Doctor (J.D.) in employment law and a Master of Science in HR Management (MS-HRM)—Urban Human Resources bridges the gap between complex California employment compliance and organizational culture. We actively mitigate employer risk without standard corporate bureaucracy, ensuring your business stays safe, pays fairly, and retains top talent. Why Growing Organizations Choose Urban Human Resources: • Unparalleled Legal & Tactical Expertise: Fewer than 2 in 100 California HR professionals hold a professional degree. Our strategy is built by a trained legal mind who tracks where standard HR advice breaks down, leveraging a J.D. to identify operational vulnerabilities before they turn into lawsuits. • Proactive California Compliance: From out-of-date handbooks and unchecked contractor classifications to California pay transparency compliance, we run a rigorous 22-item checkup to ensure your documents hold up under structural agency scrutiny. • The PEO Alternative: We provide elite, localized HR expertise across nine core disciplines—including compensation equity, employee relations, and talent acquisition—without forcing you to surrender your payroll, benefits, or operational control. Who We Serve: We are built for small-to-midsize California businesses, fast-scaling tech startups, and purpose-driven nonprofits that cannot afford to lose their key performers or suffer the catastrophic regulatory penalties that sink growing small companies.
