## Unleash Reviews
 ### 1. Superb Speed and Control, Perfect for Feature Flagging

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joao L. | Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 21, 2026

**What do you like best about Unleash?**

I use Unleash to feature flag our backend features, and I really appreciate being able to release with more confidence and test in production safely. The easy SDK that supports multiple languages is great because it covers our full stack. The self-host possibility is a big plus for us, as it gives us control over who accesses Unleash, which helps us guarantee a better SLA by not depending on other services' uptime. What I like most is the speed; it never fails to return a possible result and allows us to have multiple flags running without affecting our latency. Compared to other similar tools, Unleash is extremely fast, and the initial setup was super easy.

**What do you dislike about Unleash?**

I would love to have longer timeframes on metrics and to be able to assign users to specific variants, more like an experiment than a feature flag.

**What problems is Unleash solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Unleash for more confident releases, controlling feature availability, and safe production testing. It supports our full stack, offers speed without affecting latency, allows self-hosting for better SLA, and manages access.

 ### 2. Effortless Feature Management with Real-Time Insights

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jack M. | Team Lead - Mid-Level Software Engineer

**Reviewed Date:** January 30, 2026

**What do you like best about Unleash?**

I find Unleash's easy setup both from an integration standpoint (code) and a non-technical UI very beneficial. This allows more exposure to people in the business, letting them tweak things without needing engineering expertise. I appreciate that picking up where we left off with Unleash, after prioritization shifts, was simple and quickly showed us the benefits. Unleash provides a straightforward interface with insightful information that many roles in the business will be keen to use. The quick setup tutorial helped us see it working in a short amount of time, and there are plenty of SDK options that suited our needs. I also like that Unleash allows us to kill a switch instantly when issues arise without needing to deploy, test, or lean on business resources, and it provides an easy way to handle rollouts in various ways.

**What do you dislike about Unleash?**

Understanding segments and constraints has been a bit of a task as we switch to using this terminology. We were also surprised to not be able to use SSO without switching to a paywall.

**What problems is Unleash solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Unleash to manage feature flags, track active and stale ones, and get metrics. It provides an instant kill switch for faulty features and simplifies rollouts. Its simple setup and UI let non-tech people adjust features, boosting collaboration without engineering support.

 ### 3. Unleash Makes Feature Toggling Easy to Manage for Non-Technical Users

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Logistics and Supply Chain | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 28, 2026

**What do you like best about Unleash?**

I believe Unleash makes feature toggling better managed and easier to use, especially for people who don’t have a technical background.

**What do you dislike about Unleash?**

Unleash should introduce more consumer-friendly pricing packages, such as a viewer-access-only option. Right now, users still have to pay the full seat price even when they don’t use many of its features.

**What problems is Unleash solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Honestly, Unleash has been a lifesaver. It’s like having a remote control for our app's features. We can now test new ideas with a small group of users before releasing them to everyone, which takes all the stress out of launch day. If a bug pops up, we just flip a switch and turn the feature off instantly. It's made our team way more confident and we're able to ship new things so much faster.

 ### 4. Unleash Transformed Our Feature Management and Delivery

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sergio R. | Head of Staff Engineering, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 08, 2025

**What do you like best about Unleash?**

I love that Unleash is open source, easy to try before you buy, and provides all the advanced capabilities we need—like advanced rollout strategies, real-time governance, SDKs for every stack, and especially detailed metrics for feature flag exposure. It freed our engineers from maintaining in-house tools, letting us focus on delivering value to customers faster. The support and Slack community are also excellent, providing quick answers and valuable insights.

**What do you dislike about Unleash?**

Honestly, there isn't much to dislike. Our in-house solution worked, but maintaining and evolving it was a drain on engineering resources. With Unleash, we no longer waste time reinventing the wheel or struggling with limited capabilities and lack of documentation. If anything, I would say that for very simple scenarios, building your own might seem cheaper, but for complex use cases like ours, Unleash is much more efficient.

**What problems is Unleash solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- Faster time-to-value
- Lower risk
- Fearless experimentation
- Business impact you can measure
- Strategic alignment

 ### 5. Essential Feature Management for Scalable Experimentation

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ivan L. | Principal Platform Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 07, 2025

**What do you like best about Unleash?**

I love how Unleash enables us to manage feature flags and experiments seamlessly across multiple languages and environments. Its API-first approach let us automate provisioning and configuration, while the built-in support for multi-tenancy and constraints makes it ideal for our complex microservice architecture. The ability to extract experimentation data into our warehouse and the robust SDKs across languages have been game-changers for developer productivity and reliability.

**What do you dislike about Unleash?**

At times, running multiple on-prem Unleash instances added operational overhead, especially as our architecture scaled and matured. Migrating to Unleash Cloud presents some challenges, particularly in consolidating environments and ensuring smooth service continuity, but we're optimistic about the benefits this change will bring.

**What problems is Unleash solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Unleash helps us improve our development velocity by releasing features in a focused, deliberate way. Safer releases = faster, incremental releases!

 ### 6. Unleash Supercharged Our Feature Delivery at Scale

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Furniture | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 07, 2025

**What do you like best about Unleash?**

I love how Unleash has brought us stability, scalability, and confidence at Wayfair. The switch from our in-house tool to Unleash solved our scalability and maintenance headaches, and features like Edge, segmentation, and the Admin UI have been game changers. We can now experiment and roll out features safely, recover instantly from issues, and manage thousands of feature flags with ease. The cost savings and reduction in engineering overhead have been huge, and the platform's observability and governance features are essential at our scale.

**What do you dislike about Unleash?**

Initially, we had to use a one-size-fits-all strategy for configuring Unleash, which led to some bottlenecks when all services queried the main server directly. However, adopting Unleash Edge quickly resolved those issues for us. We're also looking forward to leveraging new features like milestones in version 7, which aren't available yet in our current version.

**What problems is Unleash solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Managing feature flags is straightforward, and the platform offers strong security and reliable stability.

 ### 7. Great Feature Flags, but Per-User Pricing Feels Too High

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Paul S. K. | R&D Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 04, 2026

**What do you like best about Unleash?**

Feature on/off when deploCentrally manage feature flags (feature toggles) to instantly turn features on/off without deployment.

**What do you dislike about Unleash?**

The per-user subscription price is too high for the features it provides.

**What problems is Unleash solving and how is that benefiting you?**

During the process of deploying a web service, you can block features that require more testing or stakeholder consent.

 ### 8. Empowering Confident Enterprise Feature Delivery with Unleash

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sitarama M. | Director - SaaS Cloud and Hybrid AI, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 14, 2025

**What do you like best about Unleash?**

I appreciate Unleash's enterprise-grade security, particularly its fine-grained role-based access control and seamless SAML integration with our corporate LDAP. Its context-aware, dynamic feature toggles enable fast experimentation and safe rollouts. The broad agent support across our complex technology stack, including proxies for single-page applications, made integration smooth. The ability to combine multiple rollout strategies, such as IP-based filtering and A/B testing, has been invaluable. Unleash has allowed us to decouple deployments, perform surgical rollbacks, and scale feature delivery intelligently, enhancing our innovation speed and confidence.

**What do you dislike about Unleash?**

None so far after using it for 3+ years and rolling it out for multiple teams.

**What problems is Unleash solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Kill Switch - enables us to just turn off a new feature where an issue is identified rather than roll back, releases done with confidence.
Reduce costs - interdependent teams bear huge costs when rollbacks happen, the time spent already and replanning for the release takes time away from other product roadmaps.
Continuous improvement - experimentation toggles live longer than release toggles and when combined with gradual rollout strategy, they help shape features based on usage and feedback.

 ### 9. Open Source Flexibility with Simple Setup

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Konrad M. | CTO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 11, 2026

**What do you like best about Unleash?**

I appreciate that Unleash also offers an open-source variant that we can run locally, especially in the development environment. It is helpful that the developers have Unleash directly locally and can test everything with it. Additionally, the initial setup was generally very easy, apart from a few specific adjustments we had to make.

**What do you dislike about Unleash?**

Nothing, we are completely happy

**What problems is Unleash solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Unleash to quickly and efficiently manage features, unlock them for specific customers, and conduct A/B tests.

 ### 10. Scalable and Flexible Feature Flag Management for Growing Teams

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Paulo Fernando F. | Senior Staff Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 08, 2025

**What do you like best about Unleash?**

We’ve been using the open-source self-hosted version of Unleash for over three years. Before that, we had a very simple in-house solution with many limitations. When searching for a more robust alternative to support our growth, Unleash stood out among the options. The best part is how it allows us to manage dozens of feature flags in a fast and simple way, enabling over 15 tech teams to work independently while implementing their own release strategies.

**What do you dislike about Unleash?**

The main limitation we face today with the open-source version is the inability to create multiple projects to organize and separate our feature flags. This makes it harder to scale the setup as our teams and number of flags grow.

**What problems is Unleash solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Unleash has helped us centralize and scale our feature flag management across a growing number of development teams. It solved the lack of visibility, control, and flexibility we had with our previous in-house solution. With Unleash, we can safely roll out new features, test in production, and enable gradual releases, all with minimal effort. This has improved our release confidence and reduced risk across multiple teams working in parallel.

 ### 11. Powerful, Flexible Feature Management and Experimentation at Scale

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 12, 2025

**What do you like best about Unleash?**

I love how Unleash empowers us to manage feature flags and experimentation across a complex, multi-tenant architecture with multiple programming languages. The API-first approach, robust SDKs for different languages, and the ability to standardize feature flag usage have made it easy for our developers to adopt. It's been especially valuable for running A-B tests, integrating analytics, and safely rolling out or fine-tuning models in production. The move to Unleash Cloud promises to simplify maintenance and centralize our management, which I'm excited about.

**What do you dislike about Unleash?**

One challenge we've encountered is the overhead of managing multiple on-prem Unleash instances, especially before features like progressive constraints were available. Migrating to Unleash Cloud requires careful planning and some custom tooling to ensure a smooth transition without disrupting existing services. While these aren't deal-breakers, they do add some complexity to our workflow.

**What problems is Unleash solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Unleash is helping us run AB tests and deliver features to customers in a flexible and safe way

 ### 12. Partner, not just a vendor

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Telecommunications | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 13, 2025

**What do you like best about Unleash?**

I liked that they were very down to earth. Was easy to have discussions on capabilities and prices. They were very accommodating in our discussions when it comes to price plans. The company I work for has so many policies and others which makes it hard just to go out and acquire the software. They were very helpful here. We've used the open source for years prior to this and there was no push in us getting an expensive payed plan. They were just trying to help us out to ensure we get the plan that is best suited for us. Which means they're in it for the long run by having happy customers rather than earning a quick buck.

**What do you dislike about Unleash?**

Perhaps just me, we haven't really gotten started with the enterprise version yet, but one thing I miss is having the possibility to add a comment for each time a toggle is changed. So there can be a change log if you want. So if I change the toggle, I can add a comment to why.

**What problems is Unleash solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I helps us make safer releases. Easy to toggle off in case something goes wrong in Prod. But when using it full fledged, we're able to do Canary Deployments by only exposing it to a percentage of users. Or split it up so that only a specific segment get the feature as a start. We can also target direct users only, so that we can run some quick tests in Prod our selves prior to exposing it to customers.

 ### 13. We moved to Unleash Edge now

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 11, 2022

**What do you like best about Unleash?**

Unleash Edge was a good investment for latency

**What do you dislike about Unleash?**

Stability of Edge could be better as we had two incidents.

**What problems is Unleash solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have continuous delivery every day, and Unleash helped us with the gradual rollout and easy enable and disable features. This is a great value of reliability.

 ### 14. Reliable and Flexible Feature Flag Management

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ioannis P. | Senior Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 07, 2025

**What do you like best about Unleash?**

Unleash has made our release process much more flexible. Feature flags let us deploy changes safely and roll out features gradually. It has become one of the most essential tools in our development, testing, and release workflow. It is now a part of our daily operations.

The Python and React SDKs integrated smoothly into our code and tests.

The Unleash UI is intuitive and provides all the necessary tools to manage the entire feature flag lifecycle, from creation to cleanup.

The service has been reliable with excellent uptime, and the support team checks in proactively, even though we have not had issues.

Unleash does exactly what we need. It is a simple and reliable feature flag management solution.

**What do you dislike about Unleash?**

I don’t have any major complaints, but if I had to mention something, I’d love more advanced querying capabilities, potentially supported by AI-driven insights.

**What problems is Unleash solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Unleash solves the problem of having to change configuration values or redeploy services every time we need to enable or disable a feature. Instead, we can manage feature flags in real time, making it much easier to control and deploy changes without requiring a full deployment cycle. This flexibility allows us to react quickly to customer feedback and make gradual changes without interrupting the system.

Additionally, Unleash simplifies monitoring feature flag states across all our customers and gives us the ability to define advanced conditions for how flags behave. This ensures better control and fine-tuning of our features, benefiting both our internal teams and end-users.

 ### 15. Feature Flag Development

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sumana S. | Software Engineer II, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 16, 2025

**What do you like best about Unleash?**

I have used the feature flags with percentage based category to run our application in shadow/staging mode to ungraded to Production.
- Very easy to set up
- Synergy with Java, Kotlin, Spring-Boot Tech stack integration
- No Config change going from Staging to Production

**What do you dislike about Unleash?**

Nothing very critical, the unleash key has to be set with care in the app's secret storage.

**What problems is Unleash solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Risk mitigation on production development while building new features

 ### 16. Unleash at scale in banking

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Henning Johan K. | Principal Engineering Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 14, 2025

**What do you like best about Unleash?**

My favourite aspect with Unleash is the quality of documentation, broad set of SDKs, extremely stable runtime and hasslefree upgrade and transition to new versions with a growing set of relevant features.

**What do you dislike about Unleash?**

The breadt of features can be a challenge at first, so feature flags as a general concept need to be analyzed for the organization. The UI in Unleash has grown quite abit over the years, making concept and features more complex to get into.

**What problems is Unleash solving and how is that benefiting you?**

To us Unleash solves the deployment of new features all the way to production, with testing in production as a key requirement. We also use Unleash to provide killswitches when services goes down.

 ### 17. A shining example of successful CI/CD with feature management

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 07, 2025

**What do you like best about Unleash?**

Unleash is one of my favorite vendors to work with. Their support is stellar, the product is so clean and constantly growing and changing, and you can tell that they actually practice solid CI/CD which is really their whole business model. I love that the software I use to better my own organization's processes actually come from a company that is modeling what I'm striving for myself. Their documentation is very easy to understand, and they keep coming out with features that I didn't even know I needed. I would highly recommend Unleash over any of the other tools and companies I reviewed when choosing a feature switching software. Several times, they have approached us for feedback and then taken our recommendations and put them into the app immediately. It was exciting to see our suggestions available to us, sometimes just a few months later.

**What do you dislike about Unleash?**

The only downside I can think of, which is also a positive, is that they come out with new features so often it takes someone fully dedicated to feature management to keep up, maybe even multiple people. It's not the kind of tool you can just set and forget, it has to become an integral part of your organization.

**What problems is Unleash solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Unleash removes a lot of the risk of change to our risk-averse organization. This helps us grow and try new things without the fear of interruptions of service for the end user.

 ### 18. Great solution to let Business manage Development releases - if used correctly

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Electrical/Electronic Manufacturing | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 20, 2025

**What do you like best about Unleash?**

Unleash helps us manage releases accross multiple stages of development for our platform (preprod / prod / ...) The permissions allow us to choose teams other than the development team to test and deploy features into the different environments without intervention of the development team. As a business user, I like that the views are customizable. I don't need to see the lower environments, so I can hide them from view and focus on my own responsibilities. Unleash also allows to document what every feature flag will do (or link through to the documentation (but that is up to the team to always fill this out). Gradual rollout also allows you to do a test run on a limited crowd before full rollout of a feature.

**What do you dislike about Unleash?**

Finding the right feature flag is sometimes hard. Either you have to know the name of the feature flag or be lucky that your keyword is in the description. Unless described in the text, it's not always super clear what the impact of a feature flag will be. A visual guide (before / after) or some sort of preview browser extension could help in this matter.

**What problems is Unleash solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Allowing business users to coordinate roll-out of features, instead of having to rely on and coordinate with the development team which is off-site.
When development team is ready, the feature pops up and is ready to Unleash, but often we need to manage communication to internal and external parties, write documentation, prepare adoption, etc which sometimes requires specific timing. Unleash lets us handle that gracefully :)

 ### 19. Unleash empowered our team and reduced release anxiety

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sam M. | Software Development Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 04, 2024

**What do you like best about Unleash?**

Unleash was beneficial in these 6 key areas for our team:

1. Reduced release anxiety: By making it easier to roll back changes, it took the pressure off release days.

2. Minimized downtime: This was a key improvement for our stakeholders.

3. Improved our codebase: Unleash gave us the breathing room to refactor and upgrade our aging Java codebase.

4. Gained confidence in releases: Both our team and stakeholders felt more secure with the release process.

5. Decoupled front-end and API development: By putting API features behind feature flags, we could develop and deploy API features independantly of when front-end changes could be made.

6. Self-hosted offering: This made it easy and low cost to evaluate Unleash.

**What do you dislike about Unleash?**

There wasn't a good path to migrate from the self-hosted option to a paid option hosted by Unleash without starting from scratch with feature flags.

**What problems is Unleash solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Unleash reduced our release anxiety, minimized our release downtime due to rollbacks, assisted us in improving our codebase, and helped stakeholders gain confidence in our releases.

 ### 20. managing feature flags in the right way

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer & Network Security | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 11, 2025

**What do you like best about Unleash?**

Unleash is an exceptional service that has truly transformed our release management process. Its user-friendly interface makes it incredibly easy to deploy and test features in our lower environments, while also offering robust support for production releases. One of its standout features is the ability to execute gradual rollouts, allowing us to introduce new functionalities in a controlled and reliable manner.
Overall, Unleash has streamlined our deployment strategy and significantly reduced the risks associated with feature launches. I highly recommend it to any team looking for a flexible and efficient release management solution.

**What do you dislike about Unleash?**

Nothing, I really like how it is right now

**What problems is Unleash solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Unleash solves the challenge of managing feature flags by providing a centralized, user-friendly platform that lets you easily organize and control a large number of flags across different projects. Previously, handling multiple feature flags was cumbersome and often led to mismanagement or inconsistent configurations, especially when flags were scattered or managed manually.

 ### 21. Great toggle management with affordable pricing

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Caio R. | Head of Engineering, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 10, 2025

**What do you like best about Unleash?**

How simple it is to get started and keep scalling our product.

**What do you dislike about Unleash?**

It would be lovely to have a better experience on using toggles on serverless applications.

**What problems is Unleash solving and how is that benefiting you?**

All of our products feature relaising is managed through unleash, making it easy to ship code frequently without worrying about when to release. It also allowed us to do A/B tests and canary releases.

 ### 22. The perfect tool for feature flag management

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adrien D. | Senior staff engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 04, 2024

**What do you like best about Unleash?**

First and foremost the team is very responsive and push fixes and address vulns super fast.

The categorization of the flags per projects is just awesome. The differentes Strategies available per environment are simple and perfect to keep continuously deploying app upgrades while keeping the app stable.
We are using Stretegy constraints a lot and permit to even rollout features on a per customer basis or even date.

The proxy, easy to deploy is also a very smart approach to keep things tidy and safe.

**What do you dislike about Unleash?**

If I had to nit pick... let's say that some aspect of the UI could be improved.

**What problems is Unleash solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use it a lot.because it allows us to continuously deploy experiments and new feature without worrying of breaking the UX.

 ### 23. It does a good job in an intuitive UI, documentation is good, exactly what a developer wants

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Telecommunications | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Unleash?**

I enjoyed reading their documentation to understand how it works, which I found useful while researching the best way to use unleash within our infrastructure at work.

The UI is simple and intuitive, it was really easy to get started and create our first feature flags!

Their sales team does a good balanced job in engaging with you without exaggerating.

**What do you dislike about Unleash?**

The Enterprise plan used to be a bit expensive, but with the new payg offer is now very reasonable.

Nothing major really, maybe it would be nice if unleash service could also host the proxy for you.

**What problems is Unleash solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use git trunk as our development strategy and it has been hard to push the team to not be worried about merging often. Feature flags will greatly help with that.

The product team will also be able to test features before we release them to a wider audience, this is great when some features are not exactly identical on staging environments.

 ### 24. Great platform for feature toggles

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Josiah D. | Sr Infrastructure Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 15, 2025

**What do you like best about Unleash?**

Unleash has been a great platform for our organization. It's super user friendly and the free training courses have helped get our developers using the platform in very little time.

**What do you dislike about Unleash?**

We have no dislikes with the product itself. My only complaint would be with communication with Unleash sales. It was difficult to simply get pricing for the enterprise edition of Unleash.

**What problems is Unleash solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using Unleash as a typical feature toggle for new features, but also to target certain customers for enabling features.

**Reviewed by:** Seth A. | Head of Engineering, Hospital & Health Care, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 20, 2025

**What do you like best about Unleash?**

Unleash does exactly what we need it to.

**What do you dislike about Unleash?**

Segements are somewhat laborious to create and use.

**What problems is Unleash solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Unleash helps us release specific features to specific users in a targeted manner. It keeps our releases moving out quickly while ensuring anything that shouldn't go live doesn't.

 ### 31. Fundamental to our product releases

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 24, 2024

**What do you like best about Unleash?**

It works out of the box, is intuitive and fast to set up and works instantly with our core technology stack (Next.js, Typescript, .net core).

We get segments out of the box, and enough options to target our gradual rollouts. It is a fundamental part in our deployment and release process and as such used throughout the day, every day.

**What do you dislike about Unleash?**

Nothing really. Overall it's a great product.

**What problems is Unleash solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows us to move fast and push new features out quickly (by limiting the inital audience). It also allows us to test certain things directly in a production environment.

It significantly reduces the cost of change and feature development for us.

 ### 32. Easy to implement and does as advertised

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chad N. | VP Engineering and Governance, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 06, 2025

**What do you like best about Unleash?**

Easy to use. We were able to teach the engineers and product folks to use it very easily.

**What do you dislike about Unleash?**

It is not about Unleash but the industry. there needs to be more education about Feature flags don't have to be about a large feature it can even be a single line of code.

**What problems is Unleash solving and how is that benefiting you?**

it is allowing us to do User Acceptance testing and slow roll out as we train folks on new functionality.

 ### 33. Absolute joy to work with, and powerful cache capabilities

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joachim B. | Head of Engineering, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 05, 2024

**What do you like best about Unleash?**

Setup is well documented, features such as its edge proxy is really powerful, and caching allows our startup to stay well within the default Pro Plan.

**What do you dislike about Unleash?**

Not much frankly.
Editing your feature flags with custom variants such as when using their json-editor, it can be slightly cumbersome, as it may discard all changes on pressing escape. (force of habit). But thats mainly a user error tbh.

**What problems is Unleash solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Feature flagging and A/B testing, even across service levels.

 ### 34. Unleash: empowering Software Engineering teams with agile feature management

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 28, 2024

**What do you like best about Unleash?**

1. Developer-friendly integration
2. Allows role-based access control of feature flags
3. Supports A/B testing
4. Active community and regular updates

**What do you dislike about Unleash?**

1. Pricing (too expensive for larger teams)
2. Too easy to disable production feature flags by mistake
3. Limited analytics

**What problems is Unleash solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our team used to manage different features/releases using standard environment variables, which were unreliable and made our release process slower. With Unleash, we can now release quicker and perform experiments across different environments. It was indeed a game changer for us. Plus, it's a very intuitive tool.

 ### 35. Very usefull for a to b testing

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 07, 2025

**What do you like best about Unleash?**

It's very useful for a to b testing different states of software with customers/clients/internal teams. Was easy enough to implement.

**What do you dislike about Unleash?**

So far I haven't seen any downsides that affect how I need it to work.

**What problems is Unleash solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The ability to ab test in features in a production environment by selecting portions of an audience.

 ### 36. Feature toggles are needed in modern development

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Henning S. | Board Member, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 23, 2024

**What do you like best about Unleash?**

It is easy to get started with Unleash. In my experience set up an instance, show how to use it and how it is beneficial, and developers will start using it immediately because it solves an important problem. When you have critical mass, set some guidelines, so that you avoid a mess. Also, their solutions architects are great!

**What do you dislike about Unleash?**

We're a bit stuck on an early version, and since it works so well the business case to upgrade it is a bit challenging.

**What problems is Unleash solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We deploy code thousands a times per week, but we need to control when features are available to users.

 ### 37. The best Feature flag tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Fernando G. | Software engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 07, 2024

**What do you like best about Unleash?**

Choosing Unleash for our company was an excellent decision. It’s incredibly flexible, user-friendly, and easy to implement. The local caching feature adds efficiency, and its support for older versions of Java and multiple languages ensures compatibility across our tech stack.

**What do you dislike about Unleash?**

-- i cant say anything negative about it

**What problems is Unleash solving and how is that benefiting you?**

uooo a lot, canary, LaunchDarkly, feature testing ...

 ### 38. 10X your engineering velocity

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Frikk F. | CTO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 23, 2024

**What do you like best about Unleash?**

Super easy to setup.
Works like a charm.
Allows us to ship consistently without downtime across our nextjs frontends and nodejs backends.

**What do you dislike about Unleash?**

The UI of creating new flags could be slightly more simplistic. But that will improve over time I'm sure.

**What problems is Unleash solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Deploy new code to production multiple times per day with low maintenance cost.

 ### 39. Feature Flag enablement

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Logistics and Supply Chain | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 01, 2024

**What do you like best about Unleash?**

The easy way that our colleagues can setup a feature flag to be tested by us on the product side, and also how it's easy to setup for our clients as well.
The integration with our backend code is quite simple and comfortable to make updates anytime that we need.

**What do you dislike about Unleash?**

As I'm part of the design team sometimes is not comfortable for us to understand which terminologies are being used on Unleash by the engineers, It's too technical.

**What problems is Unleash solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Unleash is helping us to make the feature flag of some features we're delivering easier to test into the company and within clients

 ### 40. Using Unleash for a year. It works very well. The team is great, always available on their slack.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Human Resources | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 29, 2022

**What do you like best about Unleash?**

Technology (cache system), open source, well maintained on GitHub, interface is better on every release

**What do you dislike about Unleash?**

I can't find. Unleash is being used more and more in my company.

**What problems is Unleash solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Unleash help me with my deployments and release process. Also, Im able to do AB testing with Unleash.

 ### 41. It is so intuitive and work wonders

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 12, 2022

**What do you like best about Unleash?**

The fact that you easily can control what functions you want live and not, and also that you can choose which user to have that function and stuff.

**What do you dislike about Unleash?**

Nothing that I can think of right now, but I also have not tried everything and I am not too experienced yet.

**What problems is Unleash solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Functions that will is ready to be in production from a side, but still waiting to be finished on the other side so we can unleash it

 ### 42. A Solid Choice

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joe J C. | Platform Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 03, 2024

**What do you like best about Unleash?**

Unleash provides different options depending on your pocket and the needs of your project.

* cheapest and easiest approach is to use the Unleash instance built into Gitlab <https://docs.gitlab.com/ee/operations/feature_flags.html>.
* if your requirements expand Unleash is open source so you can host a more sophisticated instance on your own infrastructure.
* if you don't want to or can't host yourself then Unleash provide a subscription based service.

The response time is fast and consistent because Unleash caches the feature flags locally so Unleash can be used to test performance alternatives in production.

**What do you dislike about Unleash?**

Unleash (and indeed all the feature toggling services) trivialise the use of feature toggles. This is probably by necessity to lower the barrier to entry and to get the idea across. However, effectively introducing feature flags requires some changes in mindset and organisational behaviour. Ultimately this will lead better outcomes but don't expect a free ride.

**What problems is Unleash solving and how is that benefiting you?**

An Unleash feature toggle it my first line of defence when changing legacy code. Working behind a feature toggle I can confidently make changes in production without disrupting the business.

 ### 43. Activate your code as you want

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nuno P. | Principal Backend Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2023

**What do you like best about Unleash?**

Unleash is very easy to use with its basic features, but is also very customizable, allowing the definition of other contexts to be used as validations for feature activation.
If you want to deploy it in your system, they have the source code that you can compile and deploy or the Docker image that can be deployed in your infrastructure. Also, integrating it with your applications can be simplified by their official and community integration libraries.

**What do you dislike about Unleash?**

The feature dashboards are filled with data retrieved by the application that use Unleash, and this can lead to some confusion when a certain feature is active for all users, but the dashboard reports that some requests were returned as disabled.

**What problems is Unleash solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For us, Unleash is giving us these five main benefits:
1. Allowing code to be deployed to production as "disabled" without having to worry about application errors;
2. Schedule when a feature is released, even if months have passed after that feature was deployed to production;
3. Have a rollout release of a feature, for internal testing, first adopters, and then all end-users;
4. Restrict a feature by any kind of condition (geographical, temporal);
5. Quick rollback if some feature is troublesome.

 ### 44. Awsome Feature Toggle Service

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aline P. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 06, 2023

**What do you like best about Unleash?**

We have everything that a feature toggle product should offer, pleasing the technology as well as the product team. It has a very smooth learning curve and the UI is very intuitive. We are running the Open Source version and currently thinking about moving to the Enterprise one, as we like it so much and are starting to use it on all of our applications.

**What do you dislike about Unleash?**

The greatest pain we had I believe would be with observability. We've set up the Datadog Events integration, but we would really like a metric view of how our features are going (without having to also create Custom Metrics on Datadog). But really, it's more of a improvement opportunity than a complaint.

**What problems is Unleash solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Centralizing different features configurations in one place, serving both backend and frontend applications. Also providing us with many helpful features such as users fine grained management and multiple features strategies.

 ### 45. Best product ever

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 11, 2024

**What do you like best about Unleash?**

User-Friendly Interface
Scalability
Integration Capabilities

**What do you dislike about Unleash?**

Nothing, the product is perfect until now

**What problems is Unleash solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm using this for feature flags

 ### 46. Overall the best one out there

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Max J. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 11, 2023

**What do you like best about Unleash?**

We looked at 10 feature management solutions and Unleash came out on top. Both the server and the SDKs are fully open-source. It has a modern architecture with server-side assignements in the SDK. The documentation is great too.

For the managed solution:
- Fair pricing model that is based on number of operators and not on traffic.
- Role-based access, audit log and SSO.
- Data privacy: user IDs are not tracked and service can be run in the EU.
- Very responsive and reactive support.

It was easy to integrate into our infrastruture. The grouping toggles into projects and creating API keys for sets of projects has enabled us to better separate permissions of our apps. We have a lot more stability with Unleash compared to our old system.

**What do you dislike about Unleash?**

The statistic about when a feature toggle is outdated is based on its age since creation, not on when it was last requested. The requested statistics don't work when using the Frontend-API and showing the statistics cannot be disabled.

**What problems is Unleash solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Unleash works great for rollouts and for A/B tests with different variants. We make use of it on a daily basis. Engineers and product managers all use the UI without any problems.

 ### 47. Very happy with Unleash. It's helping us accomplish a lot with an easy and cheap setup.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Martin J. | Nordic Frontend Engineering Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 30, 2022

**What do you like best about Unleash?**

The best thing about Unleash is that it puts the developer in the center. A lot of similar tools sideline the developers in favor of marketing people. Unleash is more technical and super flexible.

**What do you dislike about Unleash?**

The required proxy is dislikeable. But that is being resolved soon, so not really relevant anymore. I also dislike how the 304 responses from the proxy are flagged as errors, "Unleash did not receive an OK response".

**What problems is Unleash solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use it for kill switching, A/B testing, and gradually releasing new features. It is an essential tool in helping us achieve a better customer experience.

 ### 48. Gives confidence

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 02, 2024

**What do you like best about Unleash?**

As a developer, it's easy to set up the feature flags once and use it in the code. Meanwhile, QA and non-techies can easily toggle them on or off whenever needed.

They offer a free self-hosted solution to get started. Being able to spin it up in a docker container and try it out myself within minutes gave me a lot of confidence in the tool.

**What do you dislike about Unleash?**

I think some strategies are not included in the self-hosted version, but you can add them yourself as a custom strategy.

**What problems is Unleash solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Roll out features for testing and QA without showing them to end users.

 ### 49. It's amazing tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dennis Siqueira d. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 03, 2023

**What do you like best about Unleash?**

An amazing developer tool is like a trusted companion for coders, seamlessly simplifying complex tasks and boosting productivity. It offers a clean and intuitive interface, comprehensive documentation, and a robust set of features that streamline coding, debugging, and collaboration. With lightning-fast performance and powerful integrations, it transforms the development workflow into a smooth, efficient, and enjoyable experience. In the hands of developers, we deliver high-quality software with confidence and speed.

**What do you dislike about Unleash?**

I've been using Unleash for 4 months and I don't have any problems.

**What problems is Unleash solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Log feature toggles easily

 ### 50. Streamlining our development

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jussi R. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 02, 2023

**What do you like best about Unleash?**

We really managed to streamline our development process in our multiproduction environment.
In addition of streamlining our own processes, the business has received huge benefits from being able to pilot features in production with ease.

**What do you dislike about Unleash?**

There's a lot of small stuff that you encounter during the first implementation. After getting those resolved it's all good, but if you have multiple teams remember to do knowledge sharing!

**What problems is Unleash solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We're able to do releases more often and pilot new features in production with ease.
