If you're looking for tax regs or other information to back up your findings, this is one of the most useful software out there to gather all information into an easy to use place when searching certain words. It also helps by adding boolen functions so you can summarize your searches very well and try to pinpoint what you're looking for. **What do you dislike about Checkpoint?** As with anything that looks over tax documents, the information you receive sometimes isn't always useful and the software does not help too much at times. Sometimes the stars next to certain items are not always what you're looking for and you won't always know you've selected the wrong item until you're 15 IRC pages deep into a research project. **Recommendations to others considering Checkpoint:** If you're looking to help add value to your clients through tax positions you're not certain about, it's one of the best ways to do so. In the field of Tax research, it's unbeaten. **What problems is Checkpoint solving and how is that benefiting you?** When you're interested in looking up specific regulations for Tax research, Checkpoint is extremely useful and one of the best research services out there. It is helpful when you're looking up areas of tax law that are not that clear and it puts all the tax court cases you need into a summarized place. I really appreciated the Boolean functions that checkpoint offers, it really helped me summarize down what I'm looking for much easier. ### 6. There are so many resources to new accounting standards updates, resources to standards and regulations, Financial statement tools, and especially since the field I work in is a specialized industry it has quite a lot of resources for that industry. **What do you dislike about Checkpoint?** Personally I would like to know when each audit program is updated to a newer version, especially in the industry that I work with. This would greatly reduce the time it takes to update a new checklist. **Recommendations to others considering Checkpoint:** I would recommend Checkpoint tools because of its resources and current information especially regarding new accounting standards, audit programs, and many other tools and tips that can help in the accounting business. **What problems is Checkpoint solving and how is that benefiting you?** The biggest problems that are being solved are audit steps from the audit programs pointing us in the right direction. That is the best things that these audit programs offer because of the ever changing nature of the business we have a roadmap as to what needs to be tested and what we should look for. ### 9. They all have great content, but Checkpoint offers the quickest and easiest answers. The search tool is great, browsing is easy. When it comes to the user, there are no complaints. My favorite tool is the create-a-charts, which are dynamic and update as the tax rules and regulations change. They are also very customization and a great way to get quick answers **What do you dislike about Checkpoint?** The cost - it tends to be more expensive than just about every competitor. While I do think it's worth the cost, you may want to consider other options based on your company's needs. **Recommendations to others considering Checkpoint:** Don't accept the pre-determined packages they offer - it's probably more than you need. Work with your representative at RIA to get only the modules you need. Soon, they may be switching to only packages and no a-la-carte options, but for now I've found that it's cheaper to go with a-la-carte because half of what's included in the packages are things we wouldn't use **What problems is Checkpoint solving and how is that benefiting you?** Tax research - our company operates in all 50 US states and several countries around the world, so having a good tax research tool is a must. I utilize the create-a-chart function the most often, but also use the search function from time to time ### 10. Checkpoint mimics other TR tools in look, so it is easy to use and familiar. I like all the newsletters options and ability to get to full primary text quickly. **What do you dislike about Checkpoint?** The validation of IP authentication is frustrating at times. I have found that if I switch Browser, at times it will ask me to re-validate and re-register. This is a formality but frustrating. There has been talk to switch everyone to unique user IDs, but as long as IP authentication works - it is less painful that having everyone on different IDs. Also, some of the generic information seems to parallel with Practical Law information and what can be found there. **Recommendations to others considering Checkpoint:** Definitely a valuable tool for anyone dealing with Tax, Estate Planning, Employee Benefits planning and the law. Take the time to sign up for newsletters that would be most useful for your practice and get familiar where to search. I love the quick search box option if I am not sure where something might be found.
