My laptop is not so fast in processing so i rely on textadept to write my code, which is easy and user friendly for me to use it. **What do you dislike about Textadept?** I have been using this editor for quite some time and i dont think that it has some major drawbacks. But one thing is that it should have a good theme for attractive looking feel and some extra features that other IDE's offer. **What problems is Textadept solving and how is that benefiting you?** As a computer science student i have to learn new coding languages and write code for practise. So to do that i require a text editor so i use textadept to write and compile my code a keep up my learning process at my desired pace. Since it is light weight so it does not require much of RAM of my slow pc. ### 2. Textadept supports c++, python and java development, and many more languages. Its a good alternative if you need a clean and fast editor. **What do you dislike about Textadept?** Settings are grouped under a few menus. It would have been helpful to add better navigation and code formatting support (including markdown). **What problems is Textadept solving and how is that benefiting you?** We develop in a low config Linux environment and Textadept is blazing fast in such scenarios. It has an elegant and customizable user interface that can be run on Windows, MacOS and Linux. What I like most is that it also has a terminal version. I also like that I can configure it to my liking through add-ons to achieve infinite extensibility. **What do you dislike about Textadept?** What I like least is that the terminal version of Textadept lacks a division of vertical and horizontal views. In addition, keyboard shortcuts can have confusing combinations that are at least not difficult to reallocate. **Recommendations to others considering Textadept:** I recommend the use of Textadept if you want to have all the freedom to personalize your work environment. This editor will allow you to carry out the development of your projects with ease. In addition, I can customize your GUI through add-ons by adapting this tool to my liking. I have also benefited from its autocomplete functions to make code writing faster. ### 11. I love its preview function, so I can see the code of the whole file and access it easily. I like your library of plugins, which allow me to customize the editor. The accessibility of the user platform, which allows the development of several programming languages such as CSS, HTML or JS at the same time, is another of the most important features of this software. **What do you dislike about Textadept?** What I did not like about the application is that it does not have a GUI to change the keyboard shortcuts, I must do it manually. It is also an inconvenience if the add-ons are updated incorrectly since the program must be uninstalled and installed again losing all the configurations. **Recommendations to others considering Textadept:** Textadept is easy to use and your customization options will enchant you. I consider it an opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of open source and explore the different opportunities it offers. I recommend using this editor to take advantage of the large number of add-ons. **What problems is Textadept solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use Textadept to simultaneously develop HTML, CSS and JS code. The most important benefit at the enterprise level has been that we have replaced a paid editor with a free and open source editor. The editor has allowed us to expand knowledge in terms of customization by immersing ourselves in the open source market. ### 12. Textadept has "normal" ones! Ctrl+S to save. Shift and move the cursor to select text. Shift+Tab to unindent. Ctrl+F to find. It even has mouse support. You'll forget you're working in a terminal. It's also INSANELY fast to open. While vim sometimes took a couple seconds to open if my computer was busy, textadept always has opened in the blink of an eye for me. **What do you dislike about Textadept?** The only real downside is the small comunity. Compared with something like vim or atom, that has thousands of addon's, textadept doesn't offer as much in terms of community-added features. However, it does have a powerful scripting language at its core, and I had fun and not too much trouble creating my own startup scripts and syntax highlighting extensions. Also, the author is prolific and extremely responsive to emails. Twice I've had a question or a bug and he sent me a code example or patched the development version on Github within a day. **Recommendations to others considering Textadept:** Try it! **What problems is Textadept solving and how is that benefiting you?** We had to write software made out of lots of jumbled pieces that worked on lots of environments. We couldn't standardize on a single IDE and OS but were constantly developing on Windows, on Linux, or remotely via SSH. It gets confusing and slows down productivity having to mentally switch from one set of keyboard shortcuts in Sublime Text for example, to using Vim over SSH. Textadept is unique in that it has both a console and a GUI version. Being able to use "normal" keyboard shortcuts for navigating and editing files was a huge boon and saved me from having to make mental context switches.
