## Smoke Reviews
  ### 1. Autodesk review

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Allie K. | Biomedical Devices Researcher, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 17, 2018

**What do you like best about Smoke?**

The way I love about video editing, in general, it gives you a way to express yourself in the way we never done before and Autodesk is just one way of doing that! I have always used Autodesk products like autocad, revit and Maya but smoke is just one of the best you can ever use for video editing and its just free for students thats really why i have it. Oh don't forget 3D and color correction

**What do you dislike about Smoke?**

it's really one of the best available, it just takes lots space on the computer otherwise its just amazing

**Recommendations to others considering Smoke:**

just switch if you haven't already, I believe it will change your mind, its free to students or in academic

**What problems is Smoke solving and how is that benefiting you?**

just personal video editing

  ### 2. Good experience with Autodesk Smoke - would recommend.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 14, 2018

**What do you like best about Smoke?**

Ability to lay out extremely complex scenes and even 3D environments that can render in parallel.

**What do you dislike about Smoke?**

Only runs on Mac and requires a pretty powerful machine.

**Recommendations to others considering Smoke:**

A great product to use if your machine is powerful enough to run it properly and you're a Mac user. Highly recommended and very easy to use if you have any sort of previous experience with editing videos (even on something simple like iMovie). Keep in mind that it's quite expensive and goes by subscription.

**What problems is Smoke solving and how is that benefiting you?**

There's a familiar learning curve for anyone who has some sort of video editing experience. Not solving business problems per se.

  ### 3. An incredible software for video editing and effects

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alejandro C. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 18, 2018

**What do you like best about Smoke?**

The number of default effects included in the program and all its extras.

**What do you dislike about Smoke?**

The system requirements are very high for a basic editing program.

**What problems is Smoke solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I had to edit a corporate video for a company and it solved the problem for me.

  ### 4. Editing and graphics made easy

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rubin J. | Senior Software Engineer, Computer Software, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 03, 2016

**What do you like best about Smoke?**

The plethora of effects available for one to use are the best feature of the software.. In particular, I really liked the 3D graphics effects and motion effects

**What do you dislike about Smoke?**

faced some issues while rendering. My PC got stuck some times. May be it could be made a bit more lite to benefit the user

**What problems is Smoke solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Editing

  ### 5. A new post-production option

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 03, 2016

**What do you like best about Smoke?**

I like the integration with Autodesk Maya and all the workflow between those two software programs. It is the best for 3D postproduction and visual effects. I really like the interface and the user-friendly ease of use. I really like the editing part. You don't have to change software for editing and adding effects. Another advantage is that you can import from other editing software. The timeline effects are simple and great, but you can create complex effects in its node mode. The most interesting thing is the action node.

**What do you dislike about Smoke?**

The only thing I don't like is that it doesn't have enough plugins, but I'm sure it's going to be one of the best software for 3D integration.

**Recommendations to others considering Smoke:**

I highly recommend it if your focus is the use and integration with 3D. Although it is also useful for other things, that is its greatest strength compared to conventional post-production effects software.

**What problems is Smoke solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The workflow between other Autodesk software avoiding the format options or compatibility.

  ### 6. I'm a director and always request Smoke or Flame for our compositing finishing work

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Motion Pictures and Film | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 31, 2016

**What do you like best about Smoke?**

flame and smoke are really the only way to finish in a commercials or music video pipeline. Other desktop comping software still does not compare to a senior flame or smoke artist

**What do you dislike about Smoke?**

Some times it will crash when we are in a deadline. But that's just software isn't it?

**What problems is Smoke solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've been directing music videos, films and commercials for the past 10 years and still love the flame / smoke process!

  ### 7. Best video effects software

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Biotechnology | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 11, 2016

**What do you like best about Smoke?**

The 3D graphics effects are really awesome. Compositions and pre compositions feature makes for an added utility. And it is cost efficient.

**What do you dislike about Smoke?**

I experienced some glitches while working with this software. Renedering could be more efficient. It takes up a lot of RAM while running.

**What problems is Smoke solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Video effects editing

  ### 8. Smoke for Post Production

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Liam S. | Compositor, Motion Pictures and Film, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 15, 2016

**What do you like best about Smoke?**

There are good video editing capabilities found in programs such as Avid Media Composer and a strong compositing package similar to Nuke all rolled into one package. Added to this the node based features make this a strong and user friendly program for your post production needs.

**What do you dislike about Smoke?**

It can only be used on a single monitor and is a Mac only product. Its nice to have an edit suite and a compositing program all rolled into one but if you can then having 2 separate programs dedicated to each task might better.

**Recommendations to others considering Smoke:**

If possible or you can afford it then Nuke and Avid are 2 good programs for compositing and editing.

**What problems is Smoke solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Post production

  ### 9. Nice for advanced video effects editing

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Srishti G. | Software Engineer, Biotechnology, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 12, 2016

**What do you like best about Smoke?**

Dynamic importing to PP & 3D graphics are the best features that I like. Support to Maya extensible plugin adds to the package

**What do you dislike about Smoke?**

Experienced slow rendering and some glitches while rendering

**What problems is Smoke solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Video editing and review

  ### 10. Smoke is Flame's baby brother

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Motion Pictures and Film | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 14, 2016

**What do you like best about Smoke?**

Smoke is the younger more sleek brother of Flame. This being said at the price point it offers huge flexibility and versatility. It offers many features that Flame provide at a fantastic price point.

**What do you dislike about Smoke?**

It is rather confusing and could be a more fully formed product. It is not quite at Nuke's level of features or usability.

**Recommendations to others considering Smoke:**

If you are still using Flame then Smoke is a must have for doing smaller less intensive tasks. It is easy to give to juniors to do cleanup or tracking that you wouldn't necessarily need a full Flame licences to do.

**What problems is Smoke solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is a good companion to Flame and offers additional benefits such as cost and flexibility.

  ### 11. Autodesk Smoke - Post production skills

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Guglielmo R. | Stage - Visual Artist, Design, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 12, 2016

**What do you like best about Smoke?**

Node based compositing - 3D workflow with other 3d softwares

**What do you dislike about Smoke?**

User Interface is really hard to understand

**Recommendations to others considering Smoke:**

Smoke is a professional software . You can use it if you have the skills to understand it.

**What problems is Smoke solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I realized a good post production of a video made for an exam in my university. It's better than other softwares like After effect because is more professional and full of features.
