## screenflow Reviews
  ### 1. Professional Video Capturing with Room for Improvement

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chris G. | Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 01, 2025

**What do you like best about screenflow?**

I appreciate ScreenFlow for its professional video capturing and editing capabilities, and the wide array of editing possibilities it offers, including animation and keypoints. The platform's ability to record my screen efficiently is a significant advantage. Additionally, I love that I can export different sources like the webcam and display separately, and I have the option to add more videos if needed. The simple interface combined with the animation features, such as zoom effects, are easy to use and implement, which enhances my workflow without being overwhelming. Furthermore, the audio quality improvements are particularly impressive, providing a higher quality output that I value.

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

I find the lack of an autozoom or follow feature inconvenient as it requires more manual effort in editing. It would be beneficial if the software automatically followed the mouse cursor and zoomed in accordingly to save time on edits. The handling of the mouse could be improved with more options for cursor design and management. Additionally, the user interface is outdated and can feel overwhelming compared to more modern applications, suggesting that a redesign would be beneficial. Moreover, there are limited animation possibilities, which limits creative options during video editing.

**What problems is screenflow solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use ScreenFlow for professional video capturing and editing with simple animation and keypoint features, solving the problem of recording my screen efficiently.

  ### 2. Quick and Easy edits and uploads!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brandon B. | MAD MAX STUDIOS - Owner/Proprietor, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 08, 2024

**What do you like best about screenflow?**

The user interface is very simple and smooth to use. Editing video content is very streamlined and effecient in the platform.

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

The scroll bar at times doesn't move effectively with the Mac Book track pad motions.

**What problems is screenflow solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Screenflow creates a much higher quality video capture than other softwares, such as Loom Video. It also gives me the ability to quickly add on an intro/outro to a screen capture for a much more professional look/feel when creating quick plug and play content. Also integrates with other platforms to load your video, in my case, Wistia.

  ### 3. Best program to record videos capturing your screen and your webcam. There is no other like Screenflow.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Óscar M. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 07, 2022

**What do you like best about screenflow?**

I have used many programs to make tutorials for my YouTube channel and none are anywhere near as good as Screenflow. Not only is the recording process easy, but editing is child's play. Even if you do advanced things like using chroma key, it does everything well and simply.

Can you tell I love it?

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

There is nothing I don't like, I have tried many programs and ScreenFlow is by far the best. To say something, it would be great if it were cheaper, but once you buy it, you will get a lot of value out of it.

**What problems is screenflow solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am dedicated to content creation and was looking for a tool to make video tutorials easily and professionally. My goal is a program that doesn't make me think about it, so I can spend time on content creation.

  ### 4. Extremely user friendly video editing tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 20, 2022

**What do you like best about screenflow?**

Screenflow is by far the easiest and most user-friendly video editing tool I've used. I feel it's perfect for anyone who doesn't have a lot of video editing experience and is looking for a reliable tool for quick editing. The software doesn't have any super fancy features, but it's just what I need for quick editing. It's very easy to use and offers some google quality features for both image and audio editing.

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

I think it lacks some more advanced features and effects for videos. If you need something fancy in terms of, for example, animations and special effects, it looks like it would be harder to achieve the results with Screenflow in comparison to products in the Adobe Suite, for example. However, since I never needed anything that complicated, it's still very good for me.

**What problems is screenflow solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Screenflow helps me whenever I need to put together a promo video or when I need to quickly edit/crop a video into multiple pieces. I also use it to add subtitles on promo and educational videos. It allows for quick results and can easily export to different formats and sizes. I've also used it in the past for screen capture a few times.

  ### 5. So easy to use and yet powerful Video editor

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Claes N. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 23, 2023

**What do you like best about screenflow?**

Easy edit post recording of screen.
Records iPhone screen live even rotating.
Noneed to use Keyframes yet speedier to change settings.
Respnsive customer support

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

Missing functions like tracking and advanced color management.
Can crash, but always recovers.
Save window does not conform to Apple guidelines.
Green screen can be a bit sensitive.

**What problems is screenflow solving and how is that benefiting you?**

No monthly fees for the SW. Edit videos quickly with short ramp up time. Cost efficient. Great for recording sw on screen including iPhone Apps. Customers are happy with short turn around time.

  ### 6. Useful, but complex

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adelle M. | Product Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 15, 2022

**What do you like best about screenflow?**

The best thing about it is that it lets you capture a specific area of your screen, instead of making you record a whole window.

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

There are a lot of features that I don't know how to use. It seems like a complex product. I just know how to do one thing and I stick with that.

**What problems is screenflow solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Screenflow helps my team record short instructional videos that can accompany written instructions.

  ### 7. You're Going to Be Paying Through The Nose For this Product Forever - Get Something Else

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Christy F. | Small Business Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 13, 2021

**What do you like best about screenflow?**

I will say the software is easy to use. I was able to pick up and use Screenflo with minimal time spent learning. I mostly make video edits for my books as promotional items.

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

You will never stop paying for this product even though it's advertised as a license. ScreenFlo updates often, and the updates are not free. They are EXPENSIVE. For the price I've paid with all the paid updates, I would rather have got something better. I suggest either making this a subscription or STOP charging for updates. Vellum never charges for updates like bug fixes which are frankly the responsibility of the creator. Oh, and want to use it on more than one of your devices? NOPE. You've got to buy another full license to do that. I am incredibly frustrated with this aspect and regret buying it. I wish I'd subscribed to Adobe Premiere Pro. For what I've paid now, it's the same. I won't be bothering to pay for any more updates and will be switching.

**What problems is screenflow solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm honestly going elsewhere. For what you pay continuously, there are far better products out there. Even leaving this review has been a pain. They dictate the flow of it. I have to write it how ScreenFlo wants it. I'm not answering your dictatorial format that has been laid out for this review. It's my review. I should get to write it how I like. You guys are the literal worst.

  ### 8. Screen Capturing and video editing done well

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Travas Y. | Lecturer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 28, 2021

**What do you like best about screenflow?**

Screenflow allows me to flawlessly capture whatever is happening on my laptop or desktop. It allows me to capture input from multiple sources and then edit them independently into one movie document. The ability to add multiple layers with the originally captured content is a wonderful feature for tutorials and educational videos. The ability to rapidly crop a portion of any video clip and layer it above or beneath other videos is something I have wanted in high-end video editors, but never really got. ScreenFlow delivers. Above all, the price bracket is just right for entry-level prosumers.

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

I want to see a version of ScreenFlow available on Windows and Linux computers. The thing that makes it so good is itss major limitation. It is only available on Mac OS.

**What problems is screenflow solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tutorials, educational videos, ASL Interpreting practice, community video projects

  ### 9. Easy, intuitive, and feature rich screen recorder for the Mac

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alexander L. | Director, Digital Media and Analytics, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 23, 2021

**What do you like best about screenflow?**

I have used Screenflow for years, and I like how easy it is to record, store, and edit screen captures. Also - unlike some other software I've tried - the resolution/compression of the capture is amazing.

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

I have not found anything yet that I dislike about the product. I only use it for limited settings, but it works admirably for those uses.

**What problems is screenflow solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Screenflow, where recording within an app is impossible, or we need a backup source for a recording. There are also specific software demonstrations where I need to capture the cursor movement and UI animations, and Screenflow works incredibly well.

  ### 10. A lost cause, Telestream makes great looking software with terrible stability

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** George W. | Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 22, 2022

**What do you like best about screenflow?**

User interface, features, price are all what have kept me a user for 10 years.

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

Buggy behavior, gas-lighting support, paying for upgrades to fix bugs which don't actually get fixed.

**What problems is screenflow solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I do a lot of training videos for voiceover actors that relate to audio engineering with software toolsets. Screenflow was my favorite way to do this for many years.

  ### 11. My Go-to Software For More Than Just Screen Recording

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jordan M. | Digital Media Specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 22, 2021

**What do you like best about screenflow?**

It's probably my most-used piece of video creation software. It's definitely my most used for both video and audio editing. It's my daily go-to for SO many projects, big and small. In fact, I've used Screenflow to edit full, corporate-style sales videos. I love it. I don't know what I'd do without it.

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

This is where I'll have to be honest... because I've used it for YEARS and used it a LOT, I've experienced many crashes, freezes, and bugs. BUT nothing so debilitating that it stops a project in its tracks. Usually, any "bugs" can be fixed by simply restarting the software or the computer. In 10+ years of using Screenflow, I think I've only lost projects due to software errors like 2 or 3 times. Not fun, but a pretty good record for 10+ years.

**What problems is screenflow solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Screenflow allows me to quickly jump in and create all sorts of video and audio content on the fly, as inspiration strikes or the need arises, without getting bogged down with complex editing.

  ### 12. Top-notch Screen Capture, Edit, Annotate and Export

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 31, 2021

**What do you like best about screenflow?**

Uncluttered, thoughtful user interface streamlines workflow and makes it easy to apply effects and annotations.

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

There's not much to dislike about Screenflow, as they continue to regularly make major improvements.

**What problems is screenflow solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Documenting the software I build is as simple as recording myself using my software. My clients appreciate annotated how-to videos much more than dry text.

  ### 13. Easy to Learn, Powerful Tool for Recording Your Screen

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dave W. | Owner / Designer / Writer, Online Media, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 07, 2020

**What do you like best about screenflow?**

I like how easy it is to learn how to use Screenflow. It didn't take me long to accomplish the handful of tasks I was looking to accomplish. You can also set templates for things you reuse on a regular basis, which makes video editing faster. I also love that you can export your work as an animated gif, which is often a better method of displaying it to the end user.

They have just enough features to put together professional looking videos, but not SO many that you get overwhelmed. I wouldn't recommend it for 2-hour long, feature-length, cinematic movies for the big screen... but that's not what it was designed for.

For creating educational videos, it's the perfect blend of professional features with ease-of-use.

It's also very affordable, and they host frequent webinars, as well as post many video tutorials on their site. These are wonderfully done and really help learn the new features... and some existing ones you didn't know existed.

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

It'd be great if it was available for other operating systems besides Mac. I'm sure this is a huge undertaking to develop a cross-platform app, but it has really locked me into buying a new Macbook instead of consider other options.

**What problems is screenflow solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I provide support for software I sell, and when people have questions, I often record a video showing them how to solve their issues. They love this over typical written responses.

I also use it to produce video tutorials and create video for online courses I sell. It's a wonderful tool for this.

  ### 14. My favorite thing is how simple it is!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jonathan D. | Customer Success Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 22, 2020

  ### 15. Drag and drop video editor

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carlo B. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 04, 2020

**What do you like best about screenflow?**

Screenflow is more than just a screen recording utility: it effortlessly incorporates audio and video media which you drop onto the editor; working with the timeline is very intuitive.

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

I would like to recommend this to all my friends, but the pricing discourages many.

**Recommendations to others considering screenflow:**

Make sure the sound levels are sufficient, they cannot be widely adjusted within Screenflow.

**What problems is screenflow solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I combine video and audio from my online lectures with additional instructional material, to obtain a professionally looking end product with little effort. A small technical issue: I cannot adjust the sound levels over a sufficiently broad range, need a separate audio editor for that.

  ### 16. Replaced iMovie and Final Cut Pro X

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jonathan D. | Director of Marketing, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 24, 2019

**What do you like best about screenflow?**

Screenflow is the easiest video editor I've ever used. Initially, I only used it to capture screen recordings and publish videos of software demonstrations/training. But I eventually began using it for creating any video shorts--even those that used my computer camera.

The timeline is simple to understand. Editing is very easy. And it processes pretty fast.

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

There really isn't anything I dislike about Screenflow.

**Recommendations to others considering screenflow:**

If you want to make software training videos or explainer videos (where you record your screen as you go through a PowerPoint or Keynote), this is a great software to have. It records your audio, your screen, and can also record from your computer camera (to capture a face shot).

**What problems is screenflow solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I create marketing explainer videos for my work, software training videos for my work, and I also create video explanations for my friends and family (e.g. "how to play the piano").

Basically, I create animated slides in Keynote and then I record my screen as I go through the slide show. I also record my screen as I go through a software demonstration and either take a small snippet and turn it into a GIF or publish the video directly to Vimeo so I can share the video with others.

  ### 17. Easy to use, difficult to share

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Real Estate | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 04, 2019

**What do you like best about screenflow?**

the ease to use, edit, and learn screenflow is ridiculously simple

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

having to upload / export to use the videos is a real pain

**What problems is screenflow solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use screenflow for training enablement and for marketing purposes

  ### 18. Zero to 60....fps!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tammy R. | Graphic Designer, Graphic Design, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 06, 2018

**What do you like best about screenflow?**

Quick to learn, especially if familiar with basic video apps like iMovie! I have been worried about expanding into video production, and the video expert at work recommended Screenflow. He said, "within 30 minutes, you'll be familiar enough with the interface to start creating stuff." He was right!

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

The Video Actions are very helpful, but when, say, scrolling an image, editing the action can affect both the start and end point. Might be user error on my part, but I'm unable to adjust placement of scrolling images without Screenflow "helping."

**Recommendations to others considering screenflow:**

It helps to know timeline basics, so make sure you are already familiar with interfaces like iMovie or similar (or even if you've used AfterEffects/Premiere/FinalCut). Screenflow handles high-resolution easily, and HandBrake is a great additional app for converting .mov to .mp4.

**What problems is screenflow solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have been able to get up to speed on Screenflow quickly, which has allowed me to create nifty video assets for my company's digital signage (BrightSign platform).

  ### 19. Satisfied user of screenflow screen recording software

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 12, 2019

**What do you like best about screenflow?**

It makes it easy to record training materials, instruction videos for clients and team members, as well as troubleshooting videos for customer support when I have an issue with software etc.

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

It can be pricey to upgrade when a new version comes out.

**What problems is screenflow solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have team members overseas and it makes it a lot easier to communicate with them when we need to show them changes we need on a design etc.

  ### 20. Good experience with a more profesional software.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Esteban Andres T. | Chief Marketing Officer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 06, 2018

**What do you like best about screenflow?**

I used to use iMovie, that was included in my Mac. After some tutorials on video making I found this application. From the first moment it was very fast and easy to use. No 12 hours video loading time until you can start working like in iMovie.

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

Maybe there should still be more extra advance features. But I still haven't used the app at his 100%.

**Recommendations to others considering screenflow:**

Its a very good application to start of intermediate PC users.

**What problems is screenflow solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Small demo/tutorial videos. The good thing you can load videos and start working right a way.

  ### 21. What an exceptional screencast and editing tool!!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marcos G. | Production and Content Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 30, 2018

**What do you like best about screenflow?**

It has to be the built-in editor and all the functionalities and cool features it has... there is so much you can do to your video after recording it... you wont imagine!

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

It works only on Mac... for now! Since we have several editing stations, on those that are Mac we use it.... But on all the PC´s we have to use other (not as good) programs

**Recommendations to others considering screenflow:**

Get it Get it Get it!!! Pay whatever you have to pay because this is one of those tools that once you start using them, you never stop!

**What problems is screenflow solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We can record the screen and create awesome trainning or educational videos in a fraction of the time... For example, we can make great looking animations on Keynote o PowerPoint, run them while we record the screen, and voila... you got yourself a great animation video

  ### 22. Time-saving video editor

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bakari C. | Web Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 04, 2018

**What do you like best about screenflow?**

I've been using ScreenFlow for about eight years now, and it is help me to produce tutorial videos and online courses. What is most useful about ScreenFlow is that it records your desktop screen, and then in the editor you can easily crop in what you want to show in your video. In recent years ScreenFlow has added very useful features, including editing templates, the ability to add custom shortcuts for nearly all its features, and faster exporting features. ScreenFlow also includes features for managing video including, including the ability to group related clippings together, as well as as remove clippings that you don't use in your project. I also like how you can easily add annotations to video productions. ScreenFlow has greatly improved over the years, and I suspect it will only get better.

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

Wish ScreenFlow included a way to start over a recording without having start a new recording. It would also be nice to have a script editor in the application that enabled you to create and record a script and then add the video to correspond with the script.

**Recommendations to others considering screenflow:**

ScreenFlow does a have a high learning curve, but it's not impossible to learn. There are sever tutorials on the ScreenFlow website, as well as YouTube. The more videos you record and produce, the more you will learn how to use the program.

**What problems is screenflow solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use ScreenFlow to help me produce online video courses, as well as export productions to my YouTube channel.

  ### 23. Easy to use software for profesionnal videos

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marie G. | Technical Writer (Software), Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 21, 2018

**What do you like best about screenflow?**

I use Screencast since 2016 and found it easy to use. I have never make videos before and I learned how to use it in few days (at least for the basic functions)

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

Screenflow is only avalaible for Mac so I' m not able to do screencasts on Linux or Windows workstations.

**Recommendations to others considering screenflow:**

Screenflow is a great software id you need to creat few videos if you are not a professionnal. You can esaily learn how to use it and have a professionnal export.

**What problems is screenflow solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I make HowTo videos for ou customers. They are then published on Youtube an automatically available in a lot of languages. It helps our Support team for basic questions.

  ### 24. Screenflow makes it easy to non-professional editors to professionally edit promotional videos

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matt M. | Cofounder - Clear Choice Test Prep, E-Learning, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 21, 2017

**What do you like best about screenflow?**

I appreciate that they've kept their program simple at the surface level. For users who don't need to dive any deeper, they can do everything they need without a harsh learning curve. That's a big deal. I don't have time to become an expert on new software that I'm not going to use every day.

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

If you're a perfectionist then you may notice that it's difficult to get your transitions and cuts as clean as what you've seen in the movies and on TV. For a while I accidentally exported GIANT files of each video I shot.

**Recommendations to others considering screenflow:**

Try it out. You should be able to get the hang of it pretty quickly. The interfaces take some getting used to, but you'll find that you can get a lot done without much time commitment in terms of learning how to use features outside of the basics.

**What problems is screenflow solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have used Screenflow to produce promotional content, edit educational videos, and create all our training resources.

  ### 25. Great for trainings, videos and presentations!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 17, 2018

**What do you like best about screenflow?**

I like how easy it is to record video and sound, editing and exporting the videos. It is inexpensive and provides a lot of value to our company.

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

There isn't really anything I dislike. I would like more options for the callouts with different types or arrows and shapes.

**Recommendations to others considering screenflow:**

Its a great product, easy to implement and start using the same day! great for all kinds of screen recordings and videos. editing software is very user friendly.

**What problems is screenflow solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use it to create how-to videos for clients and internally for new hires and new product launches on how the system works. We have found that using the software we can create quick videos on any material.

  ### 26. Not Just For Recording Your Screen

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 25, 2018

**What do you like best about screenflow?**

Screenflow is not just about recording screencasts. It can become your multi-purpose video editor. While it is not nearly as powerful as other tools out there, the barrier of entry is so low that almost anyone could learn how to use Screenflow in less than 2 days of concentrated use.

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

I do wish that Screenflow came with more pre-built in effects. This would allow for one to use Screenflow for their Youtube channel and Let's Plays more often.

Professionally, Screenflow has been amazing. I have produced full operating procedures for our digital marketing company, tutorials for clients, and even high-end productivity videos that are watched by thousands of paying customers.

**Recommendations to others considering screenflow:**

Add more built-in effects. This would fit your niche of being easy to use but would push the cap on advanced one could get with Screenflow.

**What problems is screenflow solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows us to knock out standard operating procedure training easily.

  ### 27. User-friendly, high quality screen capture and video editing software

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Peter L. | Customer Advocate, Computer Software, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 28, 2017

**What do you like best about screenflow?**

Screenflow is easy to use and offers a lot of functionality at a low price. Not only can you record your screen and/or webcam, Screenflow is also a full-function video editor.

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

There is a little bit of a learning curve, especially if you are looking to add text or other effect to your videos.

**Recommendations to others considering screenflow:**

Take the time to go through the tutorials to unleash the power of Screenflow. There are a number of useful tutorials on YouTube of those actually using the software that can show you some useful tips and tricks. Much better than free or other low cost alternatives.

**What problems is screenflow solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Screenflow allows you to quickly create and edit screen capture video tutorials with professional results.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gerard G. | Owner, Internet, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 10, 2018

**What do you like best about screenflow?**

It’s a complete app, allowing for editing clips, sounds, voice, effects. I sometimes use it for even regular video editing where I want to go quick and good.

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

Nothing really. Seriously, for my needs, nothing missing.

**Recommendations to others considering screenflow:**

Get a good quality microphone and you’re golden.

**What problems is screenflow solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Screenflow to create educational videos, usually for onlone courses on usin the web for your business..

  ### 29. The absolute best for recording your screen and camera at the same time

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chris R. | Head Instructor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 28, 2018

**What do you like best about screenflow?**

It's an amazing combination of power, features, and user-friendliness all in one. A novice can create a professional-quality screencast with a very short learning curve.

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

There are just a few things that iMovie does better, like speed control and transitions. These things are secondary to the screencasting experience, so it's a minor quibble.

**Recommendations to others considering screenflow:**

Spend a bit of time on training -- a little YouTubing will go a very long way!

**What problems is screenflow solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows me to create professional screencasts. Even though I'm one person I can create something that's polished enough to look professional.

  ### 30. Preferred Video Editing Software

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dave O. | Product Marketing Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 27, 2017

**What do you like best about screenflow?**

The ease of use and intelligent UI is fantastic. I've been able to import .png graphics and overlay with cropped video with ease. Anytime I think, "I wonder if I can do that?" I click around and usually find a way to do what I'm looking for.

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

I have not used the media library a lot, because it has been so easy to drag and drop clips from my own folder arrangements in my Finder. I will say that on VERY rare occasions I am prohibited from saving a project due to a missing clip (audio clip usually). Even after I locate the audio clip and add it to my the media browser in the tool, it has still prohibited me from saving. I mostly am to blame for this I'm sure and have been very careful to not move files once a project has been started, henceforth.

**Recommendations to others considering screenflow:**

Fantastic buy for the video editor who wants to make short business related videos!

**What problems is screenflow solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm using ScreenFlow to make animated event decks that we show throughout the year, to product release videos that we promote across the web, to short films that we use as social media teasers or movie openers to our keynote speakers.

  ### 31. Intuitive software to help you with screen captures and video editing.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 23, 2018

**What do you like best about screenflow?**

I love how easy it is to edit screen captures. When I started using this software, I didn't have any prior experience with video editing. Screenflow is so easy to learn how to use!

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

I honestly can't think of anything I really dislike about it. I wish I could use MP4 files in Screenflow but I understand why I can't.

**Recommendations to others considering screenflow:**

If you are looking for an easy to learn software for screen captures, Screenflow is the best there is. I highly recommend it!

**What problems is screenflow solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I create all of our video help content for customers with ScreenFlow. I love how easy it is to go back and edit videos when features change or new features come out.

  ### 32. Full Stack Video Editing Software, Tons of Features to Learn, Utilize, and Create Awesome Media

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nate M. | Director of Customer Success, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 30, 2017

**What do you like best about screenflow?**

Screenflow has everything that you need to build awesome media. They have tons of features and allow you to build very eccentric pieces of media with all the layers you need. The learning curve is a bit high with everything you can do, but there are a lot of things on YouTube you can watch to learn, they have a huge community of people who do tutorials.

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

Takes a bit of time to learn. The resources online are not very good and would be ideal to have a type of 'master class' that is done to show you how to do this (Think like a new age 'Bob Ross').

**Recommendations to others considering screenflow:**

It will take some time to work through and see if it works for you depending on what features you need. You can use their free version to test it all out, but any exported media will be watermarked unless you purchase the full version. I would say it could take a couple weeks or a month (depending on your daily usage) to see if it fits your needs.

**What problems is screenflow solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Screenflow for a lot of our resources in making animated tutorials and videos for customers. We also use it for some marketing materials and recording demos or other promotional materials.

  ### 33. Amazing software for making screencasts

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

Sometimes you want to use titles and transitions that are not available in the tool.

**What problems is screenflow solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We've been able to create professional videos to promote our products with little effort.

  ### 34. Easy to use tool to create online video

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Accounting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 01, 2018

**What do you like best about screenflow?**

Ease of use of program.

Its very easy to record.

While I think you do need to do an online course in order to learn how all the editing tools work, once you have done so its quite easy to use.

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

Can't say I dislike anything about the software.

Does have a bit of a learning curve.

**Recommendations to others considering screenflow:**

Best video recording and editing software for the Mac.

**What problems is screenflow solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use it to create sales videos as well as training videos.

  ### 35. Great for quick screen captures and basic editing

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 12, 2018

**What do you like best about screenflow?**

Love how easy it is to launch a screen recording with a simple key combination. Used very frequently when creating our training videos.

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

Sometimes there are export issues or issues with the screens on mobile devices not recording.

**What problems is screenflow solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Training resources and materials are of a much higher quality. It’s quick and easy to produce solid training videos and walkthroughs.

  ### 36. Fantastic video editing software for Mac

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jake S. | Senior Product Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2017

**What do you like best about screenflow?**

I love how easy it is to use. It's a great tool that has a ton of options without being impossible to learn. It's also very affordable.

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

I HATE that it's only on Mac. I wish that it was on PC as well. None of the PC platforms I've seen compare in terms of value and usability.

**Recommendations to others considering screenflow:**

It is a fantastic software that is a bargain price wise for what you get. They also have a free version you can try out before purchasing a license. The paid version allows you to upload videos directly to YouTube, Vimeo, and other hosting sites.

**What problems is screenflow solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We make instructional videos for both employees and customers.

  ### 37. Powerful and better alternative than quicktime

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 07, 2018

**What do you like best about screenflow?**

The fact that you can record the screen, windows, and audio separately is very useful.

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

It does lack some editing features and color representation can get messed up sometimes.

**What problems is screenflow solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use it to record screen demos constantly and it makes it much easier than using quicktime.

  ### 38. Perfect tool for screencasts

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 09, 2017

**What do you like best about screenflow?**

Easy handling, comes with all required features. Even without any professional video cutting/editing background, I was able to use screenflow right away.

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

The color (currently black or grey) of the starting and ending transition cannot be changed. So there is nothing really to dislike, only to improve!

**Recommendations to others considering screenflow:**

best screencast tool for mac, but not available for PC!!

**What problems is screenflow solving and how is that benefiting you?**

You can edit screencasts directly in screenflow. So there is no need for any other video editing tool.

  ### 39. A tool that my friends on Windows are jealous about.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Oliver H. | Vice President of Sales, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 16, 2017

**What do you like best about screenflow?**

The flexibility to record anything from a voice over, to your screen, your webcam or even your iPhone. Screenflow makes it really easy to create professional marketing and tutorial videos for our business.

The price compared to other professional video editing tools like Adobe After Effects is really great and in 99% of all use cases, you probably don't need After Effects to create a tutorial video for your customers.

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

It happened to me twice, that I tried to record my screen only to find out 30 minutes later that I didn't check the "Record Desktop" checkbox. Maybe an additional dialog even when you start recording in the document would help.

Working on a small laptop can also get a little bit difficult if you are working with multiple timelines and audio tracks.

**Recommendations to others considering screenflow:**

Read the manual and watch a couple of tutorial videos first. I had no idea in the beginning of what Screenflow is capable and only discovered the great features over the years.

**What problems is screenflow solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We don't need any external video company for creating our tutorial or marketing videos. Especially when it comes to creating product videos, people within the company probably know the best about the product and can present it in the most logical way. In the end, it's saving us money, a lot of money.

Mixing iPhone screen recordings and screenshots really allow us to create marketing videos that look like the come from a professional ad agency.

  ### 40. Brilliant Screen recording software for the Mac

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Scott S. | Creative Director, Telecommunications, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 20, 2017

**What do you like best about screenflow?**

ScreenFlow has an easy to use interface with useful tools to help you enhance your recorded video. You can do video edits, such as adding click effects, highlighting menu items, adding text and transitions.

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

Screenflow keeps adding useful features and increased stability with each release, so feature-wise it's fantastic for what it does. I do find the 2 computer limit per license somewhat irritating. I prefer that the software be licensed to the user to use on whatever computer they happen to be using at the time. Screenflow is Mac only, but there is similar software available to Windows users.

**Recommendations to others considering screenflow:**

Be aware that Screenflow is for Mac users only. Take the time to learn to use the software properly and you will get excellent results.

**What problems is screenflow solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am producing how-to software instruction videos with ScreenFlow

  ### 41. The must-have screen recorder for Mac

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rob L. | Product Marketing & Education Lead, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 27, 2017

**What do you like best about screenflow?**

Screenflow is powerful but not excessive, so everything you need is at your fingertips and not much else. Recording and assembling clips is easy. And the audio filter to remove background noise is clutch. I've made 20+ marketing videos with product demos using Screenflow and always have a good experience.

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

There are little things like the default animation transition should be crossfade and not one of the gimmicky ones they have in there. You can customize a lot of your defaults so that is easily overcome. The only other thing is if you have a project that has a lot of layers, managing more than 5-6 tracks is a little clunky.

**Recommendations to others considering screenflow:**

Buy it. And get a decent mic with a pop filter - maybe an Audio Technica ATR2100. You'll be good to go.

**What problems is screenflow solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a technology company, we need to put our crown jewel, our software, front and center. I use Screenflow to produce demo and feature videos, primarily for our sales team to help them sell. I also use it for internal training videos and YouTube content marketing. For the YouTube stuff, we'll take a blog post, make a basic deck out of it, and then use Screenflow to record a short video on the same topic.

  ### 42. Best recording software for Mac OS

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Victor H. | AngularJS / Ruby on Rails developer, Warehousing, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 02, 2017

**What do you like best about screenflow?**

I love how simple is to start recording, the user interface is perfect, for mac the top nav button is discrete and the options for editing the video and sound are pro.

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

I will like to see quick tutorials online, I have followed some youtubers but those videos are really long, learning all the ScreenFlow components takes too much time, but at the end it is the best system for screen recording.

**What problems is screenflow solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have resolved my screencasting issues for Udemy, the quality is amazing and all the effects you can apply to the video are good, for example: The click and keypress events are covered which is very good for teaching online videos.

  ### 43. Great demo recording software for SaaS companies

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kevin H. | Chief Growth Officer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 24, 2016

**What do you like best about screenflow?**

It's really easy to get started and create professional looking product recordings in a few mins.

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

Not sure if available but would love a chrome extension to quickly record and output demo videos of our web app.

**What problems is screenflow solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Quick demo videos with voice over. It's really easy to create a bunch of videos since our product is always evolving.

  ### 44. Love this tool!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 27, 2016

**What do you like best about screenflow?**

Video editing and options as far as recording video's exporting GIF's, etc.

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

nothing really. It has everything i need right now. Look forward to new features. There was one feature I really wanted and within a month it was there. Probably mere coincidence though.

**Recommendations to others considering screenflow:**

Watch their helpful demo's and youtube videos. There is a large community out there in youtube who will show you the basics to advanced features.

**What problems is screenflow solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Creating training material for end users and my customers. Great for demoing common use cases, training, etc.

  ### 45. My goto for screen recording

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2016

**What do you like best about screenflow?**

I use screenflow to record webinars for training purposes. I like it better than Camtasia for quick turnaround.

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

There are times when I need to create quizzes that are SCORM compliant, and this is where Screenflow falls a little short for me.

**What problems is screenflow solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've realized that recording webinars with screenflow is a easy to do.

  ### 46. Great piece of software

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tim M. | User Experience Designer, Internet, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 11, 2016

**What do you like best about screenflow?**

Screenflow has everything I need from this type of software. I use it to record user interviews and edit the resulting videos. I also use it to edit any kind of video from other screen recording software, depending on what my client is using to capture the initial date. I can add captions, edit the audio, add transition effects, everything you might expect. You can even use it to record from mobile devices. It's proved itself to be very robust and has never crashed to my memory.

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

There's not a lot to dislike to be honest. The timeline editing can get fiddly but I've found this with other video tools too. I think once you've learned the shortcut keys your workflow speeds up considerably. It's sold at a great price point and for any contractor its a valuable piece of software to have in your armoury.

**Recommendations to others considering screenflow:**

Don't hesitate! :)

**What problems is screenflow solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Screenflow to record and edit user interviews videos (I ask people to look at websites and digital products and give me their opinion about them). The video recording aspect works well and the editor is very quick. I'm able to produce decent quality highlight videos for my clients in no time.

  ### 47. Screen Recorder for Mac

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cho Yin Y. | System Administrator, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 26, 2016

**What do you like best about screenflow?**

This software has several advantages over the default Quicktime screen recording feature. Firstly, the fan does not spin as quick on a Macbook which creates a lot of noise. Secondly, Screenflow allows for basic post-recording processing/editing, which in Quicktime requires importing to iMovie to obtain the same feature.

Also, its screen recording quality is decent as well. When recording games, there is no big decrease in the fps which is ideal for computers that are not in the high-end.

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

The editing features are pretty minimal and sometimes I still resort back to other video editing software such as Final Cut Pro or iMovie. Their project files are also very large and takes up hard drive space very fast if long periods of time are recorded.

**Recommendations to others considering screenflow:**

One should consider screenflow only if there are not lack of funds. Recognising there are free aternatives such as OBS in the market which provides similar services (excluding the editing software), Screenflow might not be ideal for small businesses.

**What problems is screenflow solving and how is that benefiting you?**

To record to screen, present ideas and create tutorial videos on Youtube. With quicktime it is required that an external mic to be plugged in, if not, the loud fan noise will be heard in the recording. Not the case with Screenflow which makes it very friendly.

  ### 48. My go to solution for anything recorded

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Thue Lægdsgaard M. | Marketing Operations Manager, Hospital & Health Care, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2016

**What do you like best about screenflow?**

It's simple and intuitive interface. It is simple to record, but more so it is very easy to edit your recordings, enhance them and even upload them to various platforms. I use this product several times a week and always recommend it when people ask.

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

That you have to install a plugin for recording mic audio and that the plugin has broken on me several times. I'd also love to see a company plan so that we don't have to keep buying individual licenses as people are hired and/or leave. Finally, upgrades are add-on purchases and past version are not supported when a new version comes out.

**Recommendations to others considering screenflow:**

Strongly recommend it to anyone needing to recording any video on a computer.

**What problems is screenflow solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Recording product demo, webinars, weekly reports, internal demo etc.

  ### 49. Best screen capture software out there!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Scott C. | Enterprise Product Manager, Internet, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 06, 2016

**What do you like best about screenflow?**

This is the most robust and customizable screen capture software I've ever use.

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

It's a little cumbersome to use, but I'll take that given the level of performance and customization it offers

**Recommendations to others considering screenflow:**

This is the most robust and customizable screen capture software I've ever use - I would highly recommend it if you need to capture video off your computer often. I use this for recording conference calls since the record feature built into our conference call software is buggy and often doesn't record audio well - this program allows me to do that flawlessly, and is way more robust than using quicktime or other free apps I've tried.

  ### 50. Best Editing/Recording Software for Newcomers

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Katja W. | Studio Coach and Livestream Instructor - German, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 12, 2016

**What do you like best about screenflow?**

The simplicity of Screenflow is simply astounding. It maintains it's simplicity while offering plenty of features and a having a nice overlay. It has more than enough features for anyone who is starting out with recording, video, or even audio editing. Everything is clealy labeled and the software has a nice visibility in general. It has plenty of compatibility with multiple formats that are supported for both importing and exporting. The software is very user firendy and requires only minimal tinkering around with to get used to.

**What do you dislike about screenflow?**

While the software remains simple and easy to use, it lacks in the features department once the user becomes more experienced. This only applies to the editing part of Screenflow as the screen capture part is one of the bests parts of the software. The audio editing features are the ones lacking the most followed by the video editing features. Althoguh they are great for beginners they start becomming repetitive and aren't that useful for more advanced users.

**Recommendations to others considering screenflow:**

For beginners, Screenflow is quite possibly the best entry to screen capture and slight video/audio editing. Although on the pricey side of applications, it is a great software to invest in as it will teach the basics to any newcomer. everything is clealry labeled and easily accessible, making it one of the easiest softwares on the market to use.

**What problems is screenflow solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mainly the capture of tutorials for various other software, and only minimal video/audio editing, which mainly includes syncing up video and audio, and visually enhancing video footage.
