**What do you like best about ScalePad Backup Radar?**

The platform offers centralized alerting and a structured approach to monitoring backup activity across environments, which can be useful for organizations looking to standardize their backup oversight.

**What do you dislike about ScalePad Backup Radar?**

We spent several months attempting to deploy Backup Radar in our environment and integrate it into our Comet backup workflow, and ultimately were not able to get it into a place where it was operationally usable.

The primary challenge for us was the Comet integration. The data being pulled into Backup Radar did not provide the level of detail or accuracy needed for us to confidently monitor backup success and failure states. This created gaps in visibility that made it difficult to rely on the platform for day-to-day operations. In our case, pass/fail reporting and actionable alerting were not at the level we needed for an MSP environment managing multiple endpoints.

During our onboarding and follow-up interactions, we were told that some of these limitations were due to constraints within Comet’s API. However, after further testing and ultimately building our own internal tooling, we were able to confirm that the API is capable of providing the required data. This led us to conclude that the limitation was in how the integration was implemented rather than an external constraint, which created confusion and reduced our confidence in the platform.

We also found that getting to a usable state required more manual effort and workflow adjustments than expected. Instead of simplifying backup monitoring, it introduced additional overhead, and we were not able to establish a streamlined, reliable process for our team.

From a business perspective, the biggest issue was that after a good-faith effort to deploy and test different approaches, we did not have a clear path to adopting the product in a production environment. Without that, it became difficult to justify the ongoing cost.

Overall, the platform may work in environments with simpler backup requirements or different tooling, but in our case it did not align with our workflow or provide the level of visibility we needed.

**What problems is ScalePad Backup Radar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backup Radar is designed to centralize backup monitoring across multiple platforms and provide a single pane of glass for tracking backup success, failures, and alerting. The goal is to reduce the manual effort required to check backup jobs across different systems and to help MSPs proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact clients.

In theory, this is a valuable concept, especially for environments managing multiple backup solutions or a large number of endpoints. Having a centralized view and alerting system can improve visibility and reduce the risk of missed failures.

In our case, while the platform aimed to solve this problem, we were not able to realize those benefits in practice. Due to limitations in the integration with our backup platform and the level of detail available in the data, we were not able to rely on it for accurate monitoring. As a result, it did not reduce our operational workload and we continued to rely on other methods to verify backup status.

Overall, the problem it is trying to solve is valid and important for MSPs, but the effectiveness will depend heavily on how well it integrates with your specific backup stack and whether it provides the level of visibility needed for your workflows.

After revisiting the experience with our team, it appears the biggest challenge came from the way the backup environment was structured. Backup Radar is designed around a standard MSP-to-customer hierarchy, while your setup introduced an additional MSP/provider layer that made customer mapping difficult within the platform. That limitation impacted how backups could be assigned and monitored reliably.

You also raised concerns around Comet status visibility. That’s valid feedback, and improving the level of detail surfaced from Comet integrations is already something our product team is tracking closely.

I use ScalePad Backup Radar to keep an eye on all our backups and make sure everything is running smoothly. It alerts me if something goes wrong, helping me feel confident that our important data is safe and secure. The dashboard is super clear, alerts come right when you need them, and I always feel confident that our data is protected. Setting up ScalePad Backup Radar was really easy. Connecting it to our devices was straightforward, and the instructions were clear, so I could start monitoring backups quickly without any headaches or delays. I also use it alongside our other monitoring tools, and it fits in nicely with everything else we use, giving me a clear picture of device health and making it easier to catch and fix backup issues quickly.

**What do you like best about ScalePad Backup Radar?**

Backup radar integrates with different backup solutions such as Veeam, Azure, AvePoint, ShadowCraft, etc. No matter what backup productions our customers are using, Backup Radar support them.

It gives me a centralized place to monitor and troubleshoot the backup issues. We don't need to spend time on login to every customers' backup portal and check them one by one. It's really easy to use.

It's easy to implement. In most case, you just need to set up an email notification sent to Backup Radar. Backup Radar will be all the rest things for you.

We also receive emails from Backup Radar daily for the backup summary. So we get a full picture of what was going on for backup tasks last night without logging to the Backup Radar portal.

It's also easy for us to generate reports for our customers weekly, monthly, etc. This saves us a lot of administrative effort, so we can focus on more important tasks.

Backup Radar is really helpful.

**What do you dislike about ScalePad Backup Radar?**

Not really at the moment. The customer support is good. It can resolve almost all the questions or issues that we raised.

**What problems is ScalePad Backup Radar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The centralized portal for mintoring the different backup solutions for all our customers made us saved a lot of time. We don't need check the email notifications from all different backup platform every morning and log in to all different customers' backup servers or portals to monitor, troubleshoot the issue.

Backup Radar gives us a centralised view of all our client backups, helping to ensure nothing slips through the cracks. The automated ticketing and alerting system reduces manual checks and improves response time when something fails. It's easy to integrate with major backup vendors and works well with our PSA tools, saving time and increasing reliability across the board.

The UI could be a bit more modern and responsive—it sometimes feels dated. Customising reports and alerts can also be a bit unintuitive, especially for new users. We'd also like to see more granular control over ticket generation rules and better documentation in certain areas.

Mostly it is filtering out the chatter in backup notifications.  It filters things down to letting me know of errors and more importantly when backups are missed.  
Now when a client asks me how their backups are doing I can get that info in one place and even produce a report, something that I would have to spend extra time looking at each backup system and manually compiling a report.

In a perfect work it would really help you with saving time with checking your backups. The portal is easy enough to navigate around. The best thing about Backup Radar is their support Teams and Account Managers, they are all very friendly and helpful.

It requires an awful lot of setup and things have to be very specific to work. Which sounds simple, but being an MSP of over 100 customers, using different backup types, it can be difficult to get to a stage where it is completely reliable.

It is very helpful to have all of our backups being monitored in one place.  The integration with Connectwise makes the auto ticket creation cut time on admin tasks.

It could be better at how you manage companies backups and the way you add and remove them from the platform.  I would like to see more updates and improvements added.

Able to monitor any backup from any software via integrations or simple email alerts. Great support staff and improvements over the years making things better. I use it daily and love how easy things are to see the status of jobs.

Tags - Since we activate all jobs using templates, and since we can't use 1 template per customer to activate jobs, we have to have multiple customers activated by single templates, this prevents the ability to apply tags that are customer specific. 
Backup Radar needs the ability to edit job tags and other info, without forcing the job to be a stand alone job.

**What do you like best about ScalePad Backup Radar?**

We use Backup Radar to avoid having to go to multiple portals. It helps streamline checking our backups and saves us a few minutes a day, which is hours in the long run. We do not use it much, but it has numerous other features. We use Backup Radar every day, and it is easy to just sign in and check the backups. When we first set up Backup Radar, it was incredibly easy to set up, and the customer support was helpful when we had questions.

There is not a thing I dislike about Backup Radar as we do not use it for much, we only use it to view our backups.

Problems that Backup Radar solved for us, is not having to go to multiple portals. It was a hustle, signing to each portal and checking the backups. It is much more efficient to sign in one time and view all.

The Backup Radar can generally handle and interpret or evaluate many common backup programs. Backups from popular NAS manufacturers (such as QNAP or Synology) are also processed. The reporting, user management, and the overall interface are very intuitive. Tickets can be opened directly in the tenant. SSO via Google or M365 is possible. Email processing and API integration are possible.

**What do you dislike about ScalePad Backup Radar?**

Interpretation of backup reports only in English. If you don't work much with standards with your customers, it becomes very laborious to set up the product. Support for Germany is unfortunately always delayed.

Backup Radar has managed to automate many manual checks in our daily routine, saving us a lot of time that we can now use for other things.

The major upside is to get a quick overview on the backup results. This helps if you have many, backups that you cannot manually check.

It is also really easy to add a new company in the program, let them send a notification, be it with email or API and it works. It also links perfectly into our own ticketing system with a API integration.
I use this software each day for a few hours and i have almost no issues with it.

The least helpfull would be support if they require a third party to assist them.
Their own support is super helpfull!

**What do you like best about ScalePad Backup Radar?**

We have so many backup solutions, having Backup Radar pulls everything into one Pane of Glass for us to look at and resovle any issues. It was very easy to implement and they had a support rep on as many calls as we needed during the implementation process. The integration with Datto and Azure backups was seemless. We use this prodcut every day to help our clients with their backup solutions.

**What do you dislike about ScalePad Backup Radar?**

One thing that could be better is Barracuda support. There is nothing to let us know if the device is offline or if the device is full.

The main problem that Backup Radar solved for us is bringing all of our backup solutions into one view that way we do not have to log into every backup portal daily to check on backups.

With over 400 backup jobs, Backup Radar is a must have to quickly see what needs attention without having to login to multiple different systems to check them by hand.
Login and check the status at least once a week, unless there has been a failure or issue and then the automated email generates a support ticket to have a look at it sooner.
If the very few off times that support was needed, it was super fast (even over a holiday period), very helpful and professional.

**What do you dislike about ScalePad Backup Radar?**

The only downside that I can think of would be when you are first learning to activate a backup job, the settings aren't always self explainitory or intuitive, some additional tooltips or even some exampls would be nice, but once you have done a few and know what everything does, it isn't much of a downside after that.

Solving not having to log into hundreds of servers or online portals to check backup statuses, resulting in hours of saved time that can be better spent elsewhere.

The ability to unify all our backup platforms and providers into essentially a single pane of glass view is very useful, both from a top-down perspective, and from reporting and management angles too.

The setup was rather messy, but ultimately we got everything how we wanted it configured - though the steps are rather convoluted to pin down relevant data/reporting etc.

Backup Radar manages the backup alerts from you, making the tickets, and closing the tickets once the ticket is solved manually or automatically. Integrating with your backup systems is straightforward, with 1 day to install and 3 to love it. Great customer support that will help you any time you need. You may only need to use it once a day to check it out, but it will work for you 24/7. Easy and intiuitive GUI.

No more sea of tickets for you to take care of, Backup Radar takes care of the routine tickets. So you can get to the urgent tickets faster. You can concentrate your effort on the tickets that need attention. If a backup fails in the middle of the night, it will get you an alert, but if the backup re-try successfully, Backup Radar will close the filed ticket and report the re-try was successful. If it was something you had to fix yourself, Backup Radar will notice if is fixed and close the ticket for you.

I have a large number of clients I need to monitor, each device that is monitored is encapsulated very usefully as I can get all the information I need about the errors/successes about the backup in one place. It has also been very intuative adding new monitoring into backup radar. I use backup radar among other software everyday and it is by far the easiest to navigate and use.

**What do you dislike about ScalePad Backup Radar?**

The only gripe I have with Backup Radar is the long loading time on the dashboard. The experience would be perfect if this loading time was a little shorter as it would allow me to visualise the scale of the errors before I need to begin working on them.

It solves the problems that come with monitoring the vast amount of backups that need to be checked every day. Backup Radar's easy to use interface makes this a quick and clean process.

We have a single pane of glass view across all the backup jobs for all of our clients. Whether the customer is in Spanning, Acronis, Veeam, or Azure, we can monitor, as well as report on the backup jobs. The automated reporting features to our customers are super handy and valuable.

I cannot say that there is something I dislike. On the odd occasion when something does not work as expected, we always have a dedicated and professional support team ready to assist in getting our issues resolved. (well, I only made use of them 2 times, and each time, the support has been excellent.)

**What problems is ScalePad Backup Radar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We can monitor all backup jobs across our customer base, be it in Veeam, Acronis, Spanning, and Azure. Not only can we monitor our backup jobs, but we can also report to our customers. Backup Radar integrates perfectly into our systems, and from an auto ticketing side in the event of missed backup jobs, or failed backup jobs, it is priceless. Backup Radar also ties back into IT Glue, and we can have visibility into everything relating to our customers this way without a lot of manual interaction.

Seems to have a hard time sometimes picking up successes. But this may be due to the backup software not informing backup radar properly.

**What do you like best about ScalePad Backup Radar?**

The best and most underrated aspect of backup radar is it's ability to distinguish successes and failures independently from the services the backup originates from. Being allowed to track if a job has executed correctly, and even if it has executed at all, have made me more agile and quicker on my decision making and fixing the problems. 

Before backup radar, other backup services providers always marked as success if the last execution was that way, and didn't take into account the incremental backups you could have during the same day, that can miss. Therefore didn't show that no result, backup radar never misses to notify me when a expected job doesn't execute, marking it as missed even if that same day we had a success, because it updates during the day it isn't only a tool you use at the start of your workflow, but one that helps you throughout all your working day.

Another really great aspect is the interface, dashboard specially, it's modular and fully customizable. To be highlighted is it's integration with log sending, is what you could say "plug and play", you add the email in box and instantly it detects the new objects in the mails so you can associate them to plans. I had a problem with a mailbox that was sending the wrong emails, and they were quick to answer and find a solution, so I can't complain about customer service either.

**What do you dislike about ScalePad Backup Radar?**

If I had to say , the part that doesn't fit with me the most is the way it shows the date a information is from, I would like for them to show or make a way so I can know in a glimpse that the information I'm looking at is from, and I would love for them to add the ability to show the different states during the day, with some type of option to load the information only until 10am, or from 10am to 6pm, it would allow me to segment and divide the working day better, making monitorization even easier.

Is very helpful for managing multiple tenants and backups methods through only one dashboard. This helps me save many time entering different servers or portals to access the same type of information, making me have more time for what is really important. Also help us to manage easily the retired systems and backups plans without wasting time.

Backup Radar has been of huge benefit to our internal documentation to track & audit backups. The tool is very capable and shows you just enough of what you need to know regarding backups. The integrations are very easy to setup and support has been very responsive. We use this tool on a daily basis. I can't ever imagine going back to tracking manually.

There is no ability to import previous backup statuses when integrating. Meaning you can only track a backup status the day you implement.
