What do you like best?

How easy it is to use. The integration with EG. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

not much to be honest. small niggles.. perhaps the biggest thing I can say is that it has an old school interface. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

if you are going to do a lot of modelling, its really worth it. But it is very expensive for just a model now and again. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

really quick and simple modelling. Determining the most important variables for a pricing model we were doing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

It has a clean and a simplified user interface that helps to get use to the product if you used something else before. There are a huge variety of analytical and statistical models, and a lot of miscellaneous other features help the user actually analyse the data instead of interpreting and trying to untangle the information Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

It works perfectly until you want to do something more advanced, like building a complex machine learning algorithm. Then it starts acting a little weird and the model runtime gets slower. The user interface is clear up to a certain point, where it starts to be a bit confusing if you want to use for more complex problems. I also think the memory handling of the tool could be better as right now you need a lot of memory to run your models properly Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Good piece of software which can be used for many analytical problems, but it is crucial to check different products as well before making a decision. Ask for a demo session and prepare with a lot of questions for that session (e.g.: business problems you want to solve and you want to use the product for) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It is a great product that allows you to build very complex and sophisticated data mining and statistical models to solve even the most complex business problems. The user interface is relatively intuitive but it could be better and more modern. Lots of features and lots of built in statistical models to choose from but if you want to use it on a more advanced level, you may have a little headache Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Dashboard and performance. The dashboard looks pretty old. Sometimes due to large datasets, the performance is a little tarnished Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

SAS Enterprise Miner was able to integrate seamlessly with our SQL database to solve data challenges of our organization, and was a powerful tool used to create predictive data models. Another key advantage is that SAS makes manipulation of datasets much easier than attempting to restructure data tables in SQL. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Licensing issues in addition to pricing can be barriers to using SAS Enterprise Miner. This was enhanced when dealing with external consultants on a data analysis project where some team members had software licenses and others did not. The interface can feel a bit outdated compared to some other software on the market, such as R, but that is a minor point. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Since R (and R Studio) is a free trial, download both and try a free SAS trial to see if one software may be better suited to solving data needs. Both can very powerful tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Analyzing large volumes of claims and characteristics across insurance policies were some business problems that were put to the test with SAS. Could we create scoring models to help predict future claims? Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

SAS Enterprise Miner is easily one of the best statistical software that I used. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

I dislike that the interface seems to be a little too heavy on functionality, Keeping it simple help. The UI could have been improved. The results of the stats are a little too much as well and refining it to the ones the user actually wants would have been awesome. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

I would suggest everyone to go ahead and use the SAS Enterprise Miner without even hesitation as it is easily the best stats software out there in the market. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I realized that at work , I could use SAS Enterprise Miner for solving a statistical problem. The world of statistics has evolved from Minitab and I would recommend SAS Enterprise Miner to everyone who wants to use stats to solve a problem. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

One of the best features is the scoring code. Many times, we rewrite code and end up making errors. Scoring code prevents us from making these errors which could potentially cost us lots of money. The cloud integrations is also a plus as I can access my data anywhere in a secure fashion! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

The interface is quite dated - SAS really needs to update how the user-end looks to make the software easier and modern to use. It takes hours and hours of training to learn the software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are always looking to increase our return on investment. SAS provides us with the opportunity to compare different algorithms and determine the best one. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

What you see is what you get. Interface is very user-friendly. Tons of algorithm choices. Customer support was top class. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

The license is expensive. Also this does not seem to be a standalone license - meaning you have to have other SAS licenses to use EM. And there is a annual renewal process. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We were doing statistical modeling for risk control in the financial services area. We did get the desired models with accuracy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

I like the variety of analytics and data overview that SAS provides. Not only does it provide the ability to analyze the data, it helps identify outliers in the data and remove them. It compares different models and suggest which one performs well with the given dataset. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

It is so vast that it can be overwhelming. But it is expected to be vast and someone with patience to learn can get very good at it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

The insights that SAS provides for my work is amazing. I think SAS is moving in the right direction. My personal experience is that SAS handles almost all the data that I have. The variety of analysis such as forward regression, backward regression, cluster analysis, Decision Trees helps my work a lot. I would recommend SAS to keep improving the product and adding even more types of analysis. I love how there are multiple type of data transformation for better analysis. They can add other analysis such as PLS-SEM. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I have used SAS Enterprise Miner for my research. I am able to analyze huge databases and find variables that are important, the trends in data, and insights that help in decision making. Lot of my research involves huge amount of data where I analyze them using both predictive and explanatory tools to get the understanding of the data. I use the data transformation tools to make the data work better for me and SAS helps me do that. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
