Product Description

IBM SPSS Modeler is an extensive predictive analytics platform that is designed to bring predictive intelligence to decisions made by individuals, groups, systems and the enterprise.

How do you position yourself against your competitors?

IBM SPSS Modeler is easy to learn and use. It takes a visual approach that requires no programming.

IBM SPSS Modeler is highly scalable, from one user to thousands. Integration with additional IBM technology and a range of deployment options including on-premises, on-cloud and as-hybrid models provide ultimate flexibility.

Organizations use IBM SPSS Modeler to find answers to their critical business questions, such as:

Which customers are likely to churn?
What products and services are prospects likely to purchase together?
Which insurance claims have a high probability of fraud?
Which machines on the assembly line are likely to fail?
Where do we need to deploy additional law enforcement resources?

What do you like best?

The drag-drop-plugin approach for ETL, data analysis and predictive analytics Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

1) Slow responses

2) Not optimized data extraction until someone writes their custom sql codes in the data nodes

3) Frequent corruption of data nodes

4) Complex data transformation logics Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Good with data analysis but the issue of frequent corruption of nodes in the pipeline can be someimes frustrating. Also, one needs to have a basic to intermediate knowledge of SQL to make the best use out of the tool especially in case of ETL and data analysis. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

1) I was building a data pipeline for the weekly Business user report - Claim insurance

2) I also used it for the classification of the data to be used in Predictive Model - Logistic Regression

Benefit:

While I have been working extensively with SQL codes earlier but predictive analytics was new to me. But the inbuilt black-box nodes of SPSS modeler really made my job easy and the client preferred my solution. I had also tried using Alteryx but both of them seemed to be at par. What do you like best?

Personally, I think that for a new user, it is a friendly way to work in a first phase with a treatment of certain information and then seek utility through the different statistical algorithms. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

I think that if you were using SSPS Statistics instead in the way of working from code to configurable addresses which is not necessarily bad, it could be a paradigm change that is difficult to overcome.

Another issue may be some very hidden configurations within the nodes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Evaluate all the options of this type of products in the market, the specific need can be covered in many ways, it is better to first define your need and then rely on analytical tools that are not and do everything. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Mainly some statistical models generated with the tool and related to predict customer behavior.

We are currently in the stage in which we seek the evaluation, optimization and automation of these models. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

You barely need any knowledge of coding to be able to use SPSS Modeler. Just with a little bit of know-how of things, you can already start building prediction and segmentation models. It's super light-weight so most of the models you can run on the laptop instead of having to deploy them on a server. Drag and drop interface, and connecting together the data flow is amazing. What do you like best?

Modeler is great when yu have multiple problems that can be resolved with analytics. You can use it to modify data in order to be in good condition for modeling and also it have a significant ammount of techniques that you can apply. Also, you can integrate Modeler with R project and with Phyton, wich is great to give it more functions.

One great advantage of modeler is the easy of automatization of process. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Modeler lacks of important statistical tests, like normality, randomness, etc. This is not good when you are making regressions and need to test the assumtions about the errors.

Other thing that migth be a need to improve is the lack of techniques to analyze unestructured data like images or videos. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Offer more alternatives to the users that used entity analytics and social network analytics. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are cleaning our data with modeler, and making a lot of reports about our main kpis. Also we are making simple assosiation modeles to know what to offer to our clients.

The greatest benefits we have realized are the automatization of proceses. With the streams there is very easy to get results in no time. Also we are integrating our Modeler with CAD Services and Cognos in order to execute the proceses in a regular base and to make reports for the managers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
