What do you like best about SAP PLM?

PLM has the ability to create task workstreams and pertinent text boxes to maintain data. The benefit that we have realized from this management system is exporting the data to a usable format and using it for reporting and tracking purposes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SAP PLM?

The PLM tool is not user friendly. When I was onboarded, we did not have any good training materials so I had to rely on my colleagues and written standard operating procedures to execute and complete tasks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"useful product ... meets expectations"

What do you like best about SAP PLM?

There are certainly a lot of things to like about SAP PLM. The greatest of them all would be the BOM development which had never been this easy. We now store all our docs in one hub of a location with pointers to master objects. The development time has been reduced many fold time(approx. 43% in past 6 months).Even enormous amounts of BOM data is easily managed. The most amazing part is its integration with SAP ERP which has been very useful to us. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SAP PLM?

Along with so many pros there are certain cons associated with SAP PLM as well. The biggest pain is deleting unnecessary psuedo/raw data. The flexibility with packages is not much rather non existent and the product needs to be a little less cluttered and complex. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering SAP PLM:

There are a few glitches/loopholes which need to be taken care of but it is a decent product especially good for BOM management. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about SAP PLM?

Wonderful tool for BOM development, Integrates well with manufacturing and updating methods are simple and easy. Easy to scale to bigger projects and change management is intuitive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SAP PLM?

- Pretty much not intuitive for anything else. - Almost impossible to integrate with other systems such as Salesforce. - Takes a long time to set up and is very difficult to make changes. - Lacks engineering tools integration such as ProE, UX or Solidworks - Extremely complex, needs a lot of training and on the job practice. - Has stability issues and the flow of information is complex. "SAP PLM - Advantages over other PLM packages"

What do you like best about SAP PLM?

As SAP is the backbone of many manufacturing business processes, using SAP PLM gives a real-time competitive advantage over other PLM packages available in the market.

Here are a few advantages:

1. Materials and BOM are available in SAP even before being released and ready for production. This allows the Purchasing/Supply Chain group to preview the upcoming material/BOM structure and initiate the purchasing process for long lead-time items.

2. It leverages logical cross-functional integration points with other departments and provides good control over the activities (from Sales to Shipment) of the materials under various dispositions.

3. No need to worry about huge BOM data as these are created in SAP itself, and SAP has various out-of-the-box BOM functionalities which reduce the development cost/time for implementation.

4. Mass change of Materials and BOMs is relatively easier than other PLM packages.

5. Easily configurable process and workflow which give flexibility to business process improvement. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SAP PLM?

1. Document view is widely open, anybody can open and view the actual file under the DIR, i.e., no out-of-the-box control on the visibility of the documents residing in the DMS.

2. Existence of raw data (Materials/BOMs and Documents that are not required and created by mistake). No easy way to delete those unnecessary data and keep the system clean.

Reduced the cycle time for Material revision/disposition process and control of other cross-functional activities for materials under revision.

The SAP PLM implementation has simplified the approval process and significantly reduced the cycle time for the disposition of a material, and the PLM process was able to control all activities (Sales/Procurement/Manufacturing/Shipment) of all kinds of material types.
