I've worked in this field for decades and I've done it all. Used Heroku. Used AWS. Used DigitalOcean. Used my own bare metal servers. Used "shared hosting". Used top Jamstack hosts like Netlify and Vercel. Render has jumped to top of the field in my opinion. There are a few "niceties" I miss currently when using Render, such as direct SSH (you have to use their web console), managed Redis (you have to deploy via a one-off container), or built-in object storage.
