It displays and assists with typing the table names I've been working on recently.

Tricky to install if I'm not sure what email I need with a corporate account.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aristide B. | SQL developer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 30, 2026

**What do you like best about SQL Prompt?**

SQL Prompt helps me and my team to save time while coding by using snippets, column picker, shortcuts and format code in a very simple and intuitive way

**What do you dislike about SQL Prompt?**

With new SSMS22 and GitHub for Copilot, Redgate and AI now conflicts.
I hope this will be solved in the coming releases.
Otherwise, there is nothing to say about SQL Prompt, this is a tool designed by developers, for developers

**What problems is SQL Prompt solving and how is that benefiting you?**

While coding using SSMS, the default intellisense is very poor.
SQL prompt helps developers to gain time with suggestions, snippets, code formatting and much more

  ### 3. SQL Prompt: I Can't Live Without It

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Real Estate | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 11, 2025

**What do you like best about SQL Prompt?**

I’ve been using Redgate tools for nearly a decade, and they’ve become essential to my workflow. SQL Prompt alone saves me hours every week. The updates are seamless, the features keep improving, and honestly, the value far outweighs the cost. I always recommend Redgate to colleagues—it's a must-have for SQL developers at any experience level.

**What do you dislike about SQL Prompt?**

Honestly, I haven’t experienced any downsides to SQL Prompt. It just works - simple as that.

**What problems is SQL Prompt solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SQL Prompt is crucial to my SQL coding speed and accuracy. I can finish projects in at least half the time it would take me to do it manually. The interface works so seamlessly - it's almost as if it's a built-in feature of SSMS.

  ### 4. SQL Prompt is Pretty Much a Necessity for SQL Server

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 12, 2025

**What do you like best about SQL Prompt?**

The autocomplete is super-fast, it auto-suggests joins when there is a PK/FK relationship, formats my code the way I want. Just so many things. I'm in the camp of "I'll never work on SQL Server without it again, even if I have to switch jobs". If you haven't used it before, sign up for a free trial and see what it can do.

**What do you dislike about SQL Prompt?**

It doesn't work with VS Code is the only complaint I have.

**What problems is SQL Prompt solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Not only does it make it faster/easier to write code, it is also great for exploring/understanding new data sets.

  ### 5. Can't live widouth

Once a user learns to use SQL Prompt, and if by any chance they no longer have that option, they feel lost. The tool is so perfect that it simply makes work easier and faster.

**What do you dislike about SQL Prompt?**

Nothing because the tool is perfect! I really enjoy it.

**What problems is SQL Prompt solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SQL Prompt is the best tool on the market for auto complete, make coding faster and help the developer.

  ### 6. Everything SSMS Should Have Been OOTB

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** James C. | Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 08, 2024

**What do you like best about SQL Prompt?**

A no-hassle tool. SQL Prompt provides useful intellisense suggestions that go way beyond the scope of what the bog-standard SSMS environment provides. Redgate have found a niche in the market where Microsoft refuses to elaborate, and I commend them for that. There are a plethora of features, most of which I probably don't use to the full extent, but suggestions for the sprocs to call, auto-filling of code, auto-formatting, casing, efficiency/code-standard suggestions, and even allowing to peek at sprocs if you need to just quickly view some previously written code are invaluable for saving time. On top of that, the environmental feature that allow you to colour-coordinate your environments is an underrated perk that's useful for when you are making SQL changes in different areas. I use SQL prompt every day as it slices the amount of development time for tasks. Some would argue that SQL prompt is a crutch, and I have to admit I wouldn't be without it now, but there's a reason for that, and that's simply because it's too good to pass up.

**What do you dislike about SQL Prompt?**

SQL Prompt can be quite resources intensive at times. I have no issues with the product as a whole, but the SQL history feature can really bog down my workstation. This is definitely a minor greviance in the scope of the product however.

**What problems is SQL Prompt solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Time saving, code efficiency, formatting, and environment control. All of these things are paramount in my work environment, and make what would be a 10 minute task, into a 2 minute task. This adds up over a day. I'm also a stickler for clean and concise code, and SQL Prompt really helps in that endeavour.

  ### 7. I won't work without it

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brian W. | Data Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 13, 2024

**What do you like best about SQL Prompt?**

When I changed organizations and lost access to SQL Prompt, I immediately decided to purchase it myself. I rely on its formatting and snippets every day. My new team also started using Prompt.

**What do you dislike about SQL Prompt?**

Maybe I use it too much now. If I have to write all syntax correctly without it, I might lose my job.

**What problems is SQL Prompt solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With consistent formatting, I maintain a style that is easy to read and helps me quickly identify issues.

  ### 8. A must-have in everey project

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Heimo H. | Senior Business Intelligence Architect, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 09, 2024

**What do you like best about SQL Prompt?**

SQL Prompt's SQL syntax type-ahaead, smart column suggestions, alias resolution... you name it: these features come in so handy and natural you only immediately notice when they're not there (because you launched the wrong instance of SSMS). I don't want to work without it.
As for time saved, this thing literally pays for itself.

**What do you dislike about SQL Prompt?**

With the usual underpowered terminal server virtual desktop session, performance can be just a tad sluggish at times, particularly at startup.

**What problems is SQL Prompt solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Code writing. Just way faster and fewer mistakes.

  ### 9. Fantastic, must-have Utility

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bruce K. | Principal Programmer/Analyst, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2024

**What do you like best about SQL Prompt?**

I've been using SQL Prompt for years. The autocompletion, formatting, tab colors, snippets and other features are fantastic. I can't imagine using SSMS without it.

**What do you dislike about SQL Prompt?**

I can't think of any downsides. Just a great product and company.

**What problems is SQL Prompt solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The format feature helps make long procedures more readable and maintainable. The tab colors add a visual cue to discerning Dev from Staging from Production connections.

  ### 10. I’d buy this JUST for the code formatting

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jennifer M. | CEO, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 08, 2024

**What do you like best about SQL Prompt?**

It has quite a few useful features, but my favorite by far is the T-SQL formatting.

**What do you dislike about SQL Prompt?**

Nothing, really. It's a truly great product.

**What problems is SQL Prompt solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SQL Prompt is unparalleled for looking into existing code: stored procedures and the like written by others. And, it keeps my own code set up the way I like.
