## Procreate Reviews
  ### 1. Very easy to use and understand, even without professional art or design skills!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 26, 2021

**What do you like best about Procreate?**

Procreate is excellent for creating designs and other pieces of art. I especially like how easy all the features are to use and how many tutorials are out there for beginners. This digital art program is definitely my favorite, and I can create exactly what I want on it! Occassionally I use Procreate to take notes or photoshop pictures and it works very well for those things, too.

**What do you dislike about Procreate?**

I wish Procreate was available for other operating systems, since I do not usually use iOS devices. However, I would say that it is worth owning an iOS device for Procreate, and I enjoy it. Other than this, I have not had any negative experiences with using Procreate at all and would highly recommend it for other people who are looking to create art.

**What problems is Procreate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Procreate is great for creating high-quality designs quickly. I have used it for multiple projects so far and have not had any issues with how the pieces came out. I like that I can create and alter designs easily. In addition, I like the export feature as it allows for communication and attachment of files to be quick and straightforward.

  ### 2. Best IPad Drawing Program

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2021

**What do you like best about Procreate?**

That it has almost everything I need to draw professional artwork!

**What do you dislike about Procreate?**

The fonts could be a bit more unique and professional. The fonts are pretty limited.

**What problems is Procreate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use procreate as my rastor image drawing program to create all the different artwork I need when it comes to my artistry jobs.

  ### 3. Fun and creative digital art

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Architecture & Planning | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 08, 2021

**What do you like best about Procreate?**

I particularly like the layer function. This allows for a vast degree of editability and also creative options. The masking is also great. It is especially compatible to the iPad compared to other comparable software.

**What do you dislike about Procreate?**

The brushes in procreate are not my favorite. I find it challenging to find the right brush that I'm envisioning. And it's taken a while to learn how to edit brushes.

**What problems is Procreate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am using Procreate to explore architectural ideas through sketching and drawing. The largest benefits that I realize is broad freedom and quick editing capabilities.

  ### 4. Powerful software for next to no investment

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 02, 2022

**What do you like best about Procreate?**

Its set up similarly to photoshop so it's easy to get the hang of. It's inexpensive with powerful features.

**What do you dislike about Procreate?**

There's not really anything i dislike at all.

**What problems is Procreate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Inexpensive solution for ioad illustraiting and photo editing. They allow 3rd party brushes and pallet imports making it limitless

  ### 5. Powerful and efficient - The Procreate differemce

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Akia R. | Staff Writer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 26, 2021

**What do you like best about Procreate?**

The UI is very easy to navigate, and it has a lot of tools that make drawing extremely easy. While there is a little bit of a learning curve, once you get the hang of the software (primarily with the use of tutorials), it's very easy to start putting pieces together.

**What do you dislike about Procreate?**

I don't really have much to dislike about Procreate. It runs well even on less advanced hardware (like the iPad 2018 model). So, it's an overall good piece of art software.

**What problems is Procreate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows me to create new art assets that I use in various graphic design pieces. When I can't find a stock image of something I need for something like a poster or flyer, Procreate allows me to just keep making my own.

  ### 6. Nothing

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Savon C. | I just like to draw

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2021

**What do you like best about Procreate?**

How there are multiple things and mechanics in there and not just a regular art game with a pencil and nothing else and the fact ttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt

**What do you dislike about Procreate?**

Literally nothing but the fact that you can’t just tap a picture and it colors in

**What problems is Procreate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Nothing cuz I don’t have the app that’s why I. Trying to find an alternative

  ### 7. Awesome and super easy drawing app even for someone without artistic skills

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Philemon D. | Assistant Professor, Higher Education, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 03, 2020

**What do you like best about Procreate?**

Interface is simple
Loads of brushes
All necessary effects
Loads of textures
Unlimited colors
Perpetual license
Loads of tutorials and examples
Very intuitive interface
Can export in any format

**What do you dislike about Procreate?**

The selection tool is little cumbersome to use
There is no brush that is good for filling colors. There is always some gap.
There is no fill option
And often even the fill color does not fill the edges.

**Recommendations to others considering Procreate:**

If you like the traditional paper and pencil style, then there is nothing better than Procreate. Go for it.
Even if you don't know drawing, but have some imagination, you can do well. There is plenty of help while drawing and expressing your imagination.
You can do storyboard within procreate on a layer and then draw your actual thing on top of that layer
The alpha lock, clipping mask and masks work great and are excellent to use.
You need an apple pencil - from any generation for sure to comfortably use procreate.
The canvas size and the number of layers depends on the resolution and RAM of your iPAD.
I strongly recommend Procreate and it is very affordable currently.

**What problems is Procreate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have drawn loads of props and characters and I animate them. I specialize in creating animated books from children books. Procreate is a tool that I go to often to get the best textures and realistic effects.
I have drawn several night sky elements, desert elements, animals, fishes, characters all with ease. The shades and textures come out nice and colorful.

  ### 8. Recommendation

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Arts and Crafts | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 23, 2021

**What do you like best about Procreate?**

What love about procreate is how versatile it is. You can make create anything you want, from patterns to T-shirt designs. They're always updating to give artists or designers an new edge on their work.

**What do you dislike about Procreate?**

I feel like they should give you a way to edit photos. If they would put that in there, it would really let us push our work.

**What problems is Procreate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can work solely from my iPad on procreate. I airdrop my work over to my laptop and upload it to a POD website. It really does save time and create a workflow.

  ### 9. Affordable, accessible, brilliant art program

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Allison M. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 10, 2020

**What do you like best about Procreate?**

The price can’t be beat, this program is so much more accessible than any Adobe program. In fact, I find I keep finding tools in Procreate that I can’t believe Adobe hasn’t picked up yet. I picked it up with some online tutorials in a few months and it completely transformed how I make bitmap artwork inside and outside of a professional environment. A really truly wonderful art production app.

**What do you dislike about Procreate?**

I wish I was able to create scalable vector artwork but I know that’s not the point of the program. I wish I could work on the same projects on my iPad and on my phone.

**Recommendations to others considering Procreate:**

I learned how to use Procreate using Skillshare which I HUGELY recommend. If it seems confusing, don’t give up, seek out help online and practice. It’s only $10- worth trying.

**What problems is Procreate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I found digital art outside Adobe very scary and unapproachable before I tried Procreate. It completely transformed my process.

  ### 10. The best digital painting app for the iPad

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Graphic Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 31, 2021

**What do you like best about Procreate?**

Procreate makes creating and using custom brushes easy.

**What do you dislike about Procreate?**

They recently removed the recolor option in the latest update, replacing it with a Gradient coloration tool. The new tool is still great, but different.

**What problems is Procreate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Procreate simplifies overly advanced interfaces and provides strong nested options instead of placing all tools on the UI, which is too overwhelming for a digital painting program.

  ### 11. Best for calligraphy and line control in general

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amy U. | Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 06, 2021

**What do you like best about Procreate?**

Quality and sensitivity of the brushstrokes.

**What do you dislike about Procreate?**

It's not available on desktop. No vector options.

**What problems is Procreate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can illustrate how I like, the app doesn't restrict that. I can do amazing digital calligraphy that just isn't possible anywhere else. Brushes are easy to customize, more intuitive than in Photoshop. I learned the app quickly and spend more time creating, less time figuring out workaround.

  ### 12. Really good, and worth your money-Updated

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kishan K. | Data Analyst, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 11, 2020

**What do you like best about Procreate?**

I've been using this app for almost a month now and this is pretty good. It's not the hard to use and allows me to draw everything very easily. From being able to slide the size and opacity meter. To actually having a lasso tool, and creating folders as well as your own canvas size. I also great enjoy the future of importing brushes people have made. I was able to get some good brushes to use. Best app for drawing

**What do you dislike about Procreate?**

Need more tutorials from the app to learn every tool and implement it.

**Recommendations to others considering Procreate:**

I absolutely adore using this drawing app. I’ve never used to more “high quality” art programs such as photoshop, but after downloading this, I honestly don’t see any need to.

**What problems is Procreate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

-Creating my own drawing easily without any external tools.
-Ability to edit and share very easily

  ### 13. Fantastic app, best in class, IMO

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Grant H. | Senior UX Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 17, 2020

**What do you like best about Procreate?**

I love how well it strikes the balance between embracing digital, and imitating analog. Procreate allows me to do so much that I would want to be able to do with traditional mediums, but I'm not locked into so many of the limitations that come of working in them. I can scale, zoom, undo, automate, cut past, warp, etc. etc. etc.

**What do you dislike about Procreate?**

There's not much to dislike, honestly. But if I'm being picky, it might be the difficulty of collapsing layers with a gesture. It's just tough to get it to work properly sometimes, and I find myself making the gesture three or four times before it works.

**Recommendations to others considering Procreate:**

Setting commonly used commands or preferences to your quick menu, then triggering the quick menu with a finger hold. That way you can just press your finger down and drag in the direction of the quick select option, then release. Makes for a handful of extra super-useful gestures to speed up your workflow.

**What problems is Procreate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm illustrating at a faster pace than I would have otherwise been able to, and at a much lower price tag than would be required if I wanted to go with a Cintiq and computer combo.

  ### 14. Accessible and Affordable Art Program

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kendall H. | Video Editing Operator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 13, 2020

**What do you like best about Procreate?**

Procreate is a fantastic program for someone who is just starting out using bitmap art programs. It has a massive community online you can ask for help, and you can't beat the price (as long as you have an iPad and Apple Pencil). It's totally changed the way I make art. There are so many online resources from classes, to youtube videos, to brushes you can download. I've started using it in a professional setting as well. I can also add digital painting to my resume as well.

**What do you dislike about Procreate?**

It has a little bit of a learning curve if you've never used this kind of program before. I also wish it was able to generate vector images, but there are other programs that would do that better anyway. Also, it would be nice if the phone app and iPad app were compatible, or even if it were available on other devices besides Apple devices.

**Recommendations to others considering Procreate:**

Taking an online class will make picking up Procreate much easier. Skillshare is a great place to look, they have many classes and responsive teachers.

**What problems is Procreate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before I used Procreate, I created all the artwork for my online store using Adobe products, which are expensive and sometimes a little limiting. When I started using Procreate, it allowed me to create artwork that I had previously only considered to be something I could attempt using traditional media. Now, almost all of my art is created on Procreate.

  ### 15. Procreate is a great add-on tool for Adobe designers

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michelle T. | Graphic Design & Marketing, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 22, 2020

**What do you like best about Procreate?**

The ability to customize brushes, create brushes, add brushes, is absolutely amazing! This is the most realistic tablet drawing experience I have ever had. This tool has helped my workflow and helped me create murals, packaging design elements, logo and branding projects as well as personal projects.

**What do you dislike about Procreate?**

There is a bit of a learning curve. The simplicity of the tools makes them feel a bit hidden. However, there are plenty of free tutorials online to help you learn your way around the app. Additionally, I prefer to design vector artwork so if I am using illustrations or lettering from Procreate, I often bring it into Adobe Illustrator to vectorize it and complete my art there. I have found this to be pretty easy, though and I don't loose much texture or detail.

**Recommendations to others considering Procreate:**

Procreate is not only a great tool for digital artists but also graphic designers, hand letterers, and illustrators. It's better than actual pen and paper!

**What problems is Procreate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Procreate removes a step (or several!) for me. Being able to sketch and layer a final drawing layer directly in the app is so convenient.

  ### 16. Procreate Streamlined my Freelance Illustration Career

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adelaide R. | Freelance Graphic Designer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 25, 2020

**What do you like best about Procreate?**

Procreate evolves responsively with user needs and already contains so many tools familiar to people using other industry standard software. It's also compatible with a range of devices, which makes it more accessible to people on a variety of budgets. I've recommended procreate to several of my colleagues, and everyone I've touched base with agrees that the program has improved their process. It's an incredibly easy program to pick up overall.

**What do you dislike about Procreate?**

I think that the brush selection could probably be improved. Many of the limitations I had when first using the program have been addressed in updates, such as cropping and resizing. There are some ways that I feel integration with programs such as Adobe could be smoother.

**Recommendations to others considering Procreate:**

It's really worth the investment for anyone who considers digital illustration an important part of their workload. It also integrates with tools I already had, such as Adobe brushes and textures, and can even be exported to programs like Photoshop and Illustrator. I find it to be extremely easy to pick up for anyone who is already familiar with illustration and design programs. My advice would be to search out demos and tutorials for others who use the program to understand their process and how they harness the tools.

**What problems is Procreate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Above all, Procreate gives me mobility and efficiency. The program ensures that my iPad has all the illustration tools I need at my fingertips, replacing more expensive, stationary, and complicated devices like the Wacom Cintiq. I have been able to maximize my output for clients by cutting down project time significantly. I also use Procreate as my preferred sketching tool when working on illustrations and UI wireframes for my day job.

  ### 17. Procreate is great for illustrating directly onto a screen

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Graphic Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 27, 2020

**What do you like best about Procreate?**

I have used drawing tablets like Wacom before to create illustrations, but it was difficult to adapt to watching the drawing happen on screen while your tablet is blank. I use an iPad Pro to draw with Procreate and it has been going well so far. I've had the app for about a month now. It's great to draw directly onto the screen and your hand doesn't affect the drawing except for using the undo feature or eyedropper tool. If you used free drawing apps before, the tools are pretty similar and easy to learn. The user interface is very clean and user-friendly. What I also like is how you can export your illustration into multiple different files and formats. For example, PNG and JPGs, or even editable files like PSD. You can also send easily send them to an email address or airdrop them to your computer, phone, or another iPad (must be an apple product to use the airdrop feature). You also get this app for a great price of just $10. You don't need to pay a monthly fee like how you for Adobe products.

**What do you dislike about Procreate?**

What I dislike is how some tools are pretty new to users, and how there isn't a tutorial for the more difficult tools. I had to spend a good amount of time watching YouTube tutorials to find out what those tools did and how to use them. I also dislike how the app is only available on the Apple store, and not available for android products.

**Recommendations to others considering Procreate:**

I highly recommend getting this app if you do a lot of digital illustrations. You export your procreate file as a PSD file, so you can continue working on the art piece on the computer.

**What problems is Procreate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have been using Procreate to create illustrations when I don't feel like using the pen tool in Adobe illustrator. I'll use it when I want the style of the illustrations to look more hand drawn and when I don't have a drawing tablet to hook up to adobe photoshop.

  ### 18. Excellent and beginner friendly program

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Robert B. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 04, 2020

**What do you like best about Procreate?**

Easy to use, affordable, and powerful. Lots of documentation and YouTube tutorials.

**What do you dislike about Procreate?**

Pretty much built for iPad and Apple Pencil. Difficult to use without exactly that setup.

**Recommendations to others considering Procreate:**

Make sure to invest in an iPad and the newest generation Apple pencil.

**What problems is Procreate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Procreate helps our business make the jump from newbie to experienced designers quicker and easier.

  ### 19. Almost like drawing on paper!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 15, 2020

**What do you like best about Procreate?**

It’s a true to life drawing experience, the range of tools is seemingly endless all for an affordable price.

**What do you dislike about Procreate?**

Really don’t have many negatives. I guess being tied to an iPad could be seen as a downside to some.

**What problems is Procreate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The ability to export my art to PSD for additional work.

  ### 20. Very good and well thought out

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Animation | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 23, 2020

**What do you like best about Procreate?**

I like how easy it is to learn and how they give you brushes that you can choose from to start when you first get the app.

**What do you dislike about Procreate?**

I dislike how there isn’t really a tutorial so you are kind of left trying to figure it out on your own.

**Recommendations to others considering Procreate:**

I think that it is a great app and if you are into drawing and designing you should use it.

**What problems is Procreate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Some of the problems I have realized is that when I go to draw nothing will show up. One benefit I have realized is that it makes sharing a lot easier and it is fairly simple to use.

  ### 21. Excellent for digital drawing

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 19, 2020

**What do you like best about Procreate?**

I love that I have so many different mediums at my fingertips. I can experiment with different painting textures and it’s great for on the go drawing on my iPad.

**What do you dislike about Procreate?**

I have no dislikes I love working with procreate

**What problems is Procreate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I’m solving the problem of doing sketches and drawings in one format at an easy and convenient way to upload online.

  ### 22. Graphic Designer

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Graphic Design | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 16, 2020

**What do you like best about Procreate?**

Ease of access & different options of customizable settings.

**What do you dislike about Procreate?**

I dislike the amount of layers you can use.

**Recommendations to others considering Procreate:**

For the price point of 10 dollars it is really hard to beat. There is a learning curve but YouTube videos should get you there.

**What problems is Procreate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows me to draw digitally with my hand instead of having to use a tablet.
