## Avid Pro Tools Reviews
  ### 1. Unmatched for Music Production and Seamless Updates

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kemar "Kemys" w. | Record Producer / recording engineer / musician , Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 18, 2026

**What do you like best about Avid Pro Tools?**

I use Avid Pro Tools for music production and commercials for radio and TV because it's perfect for mixing, composing, recording, and mastering. I love how editing and recording are a breeze; you can just set the input and start—whether it's single or multi-track. Editing is super simple with tools like slice, cut, move, stretch, and using Elastic Audio makes it smooth. The pitch correction is great, and consolidating audio to minimize session size is efficient. Committing plugins to your track is so seamless. I’ve been using Pro Tools since version 6, and it just keeps getting better with each update. Pro Tools is my go-to for live recording because it feels so natural, like working with the board and tape. I was initially unfamiliar with computers, but once I learned the Pro Tools shortcuts, working became second nature, and now I don’t even have to look at the keyboard. It's the official DAW for me, and I'd rate my likelihood to recommend it as a 20 out of 10!

**What do you dislike about Avid Pro Tools?**

I have the perpetual but the update price could be lower.

**What problems is Avid Pro Tools solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Avid Pro Tools helps with cleaning up recordings from other studios, making editing and recording a breeze with seamless audio manipulation and pitch correction. It minimizes session sizes and streamlines the production process.

  ### 2. Ultimate Tool for Music Production, Needs Better Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** E. “Phil” P. | Video Production Specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2026

**What do you like best about Avid Pro Tools?**

I really like Avid Pro Tools because it's got everything I need for music production. There are a lot of tools at my disposal, especially when it comes to plug-ins, which I find super useful. I can do a lot of non-destructive editing, and the setup was easy. I got started almost right away, which was great. The software also recognizes everything I plug in, like my guitars and keyboards, which makes it really convenient for me to get down and play. I appreciate that I can take stuff from Logic Pro and integrate it seamlessly, using synthesizers, guitar effects, and EQ settings. Everything's right there for me to use, which I really value.

**What do you dislike about Avid Pro Tools?**

The only thing I think would need improvement is how to get help. It's hard when I'm trying to deal with something that's not quite working, like a technical difficulty. I can't get the help I need. I mean, I go to help and examine the community, and they'll only tell me that I can't get to help. So I need more information from them as to what the problem might be. Because I don't get it from them. I just get sent to a community, and they don't really tell me anything.

**What problems is Avid Pro Tools solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Avid Pro Tools for music production, mainly mixing and mastering. It provides a lot of tools and plugins, allowing non-destructive editing and easy integration of instruments. I can transfer work from Logic Pro, use various synthesizers, and apply effects all in one place.

  ### 3. Function and Features at a value!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** brian h. | Operations Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 01, 2025

**What do you like best about Avid Pro Tools?**

These days the options for having pro tools can cover anyone from basic recording to full production. The different tiers for purchasing the software and plugins, and the subscription offerings makes it perfect if you are just getting started, need a short term solution, or are diving right in.

**What do you dislike about Avid Pro Tools?**

My biggest issues with Pro Tools is the iLok verification, it was more of an issue in the past but now that iLok has its own license manager for the computer its way better than buying the dongles. My other complaint would organizing and removing plugins. You may download a trial, or subscribe the a package for a month, but when they are no longer active, they still clog up your menus.

**What problems is Avid Pro Tools solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Music production from basic to professional. Also, the ability to take it mobile with your laptop or use the sketch app on an ipad or phone.

  ### 4. Effective video editing

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dan T. | HUD Certifited Budget & Housing Coach, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 14, 2024

**What do you like best about Avid Pro Tools?**

Takes some practice, but the software is like second nature once you get all the ins and outs of how to do different effects and transitions.

**What do you dislike about Avid Pro Tools?**

Tends to crash or freeze on recent computers.

**What problems is Avid Pro Tools solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Improved storytelling for local news operations.

  ### 5. Its the Industry standard for DAWs for a reason!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Christian R. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2023

**What do you like best about Avid Pro Tools?**

Avid Pro Tools is amazing and the best thing about it is its powerful interface which allows the user to surgically manipulate audio to how ever they please.

**What do you dislike about Avid Pro Tools?**

The only thing I dislike about it is that it is expensive to purchase/subscribe to for a software that crashes a lot.

**What problems is Avid Pro Tools solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main problem Pro Tools solves is that it gives the user every tool they need to accomplish the job, whereas another DAW or NLE with audio capabilities are unable to do the same.

  ### 6. Pro Tools is fantastic

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jonathan B. | Audio Mixer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 29, 2023

**What do you like best about Avid Pro Tools?**

I use ProTools every day. It's a great audio application. I use it to mix TV shows and promos. It's great for sound design and also for cleaning up dialogue. Really there's nothing to say negatively about this product.

**What do you dislike about Avid Pro Tools?**

I don't feel there are many downsides to ProTools. Possibly the price but I feel like it's worth it.

**What problems is Avid Pro Tools solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ProTools enables me to mix and do sound design very quickly. I'm able to deliver my product in a timely fashion and it's also extremely reliable.

  ### 7. My preferred DAW for audio mixing and editing.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Callum B. | Marketing Executive, Hospitality, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 07, 2023

**What do you like best about Avid Pro Tools?**

Pro Tools is my go-to digital audio workstation (DAW) for mixing and editing, as I really enjoy how customisable the interface and controls can be; such that preferred keyboard shortcuts can be assigned to different functions. In addition to this, being able to have different side-panels open based on your workflow preferences is a bonus.

I additionally find that Pro Tools' layout very much helps with my workflow when mixing audio, whether that be for music or film. When demonstrating Pro Tools in a teaching environment, the channel strips are linear and easy to follow, and this remains true when mixing large sessions which is fantastic.

**What do you dislike about Avid Pro Tools?**

Pro Tools requires a monthly or yearly subscription in order to consistently keep the most up-to-date version. There is a one-time payment option, although, this is for a perpetual license that only allows for the user to update to the next software version a certain number of times. Once these updates have been applied, the user only gets to keep the last version they updated unless they should like to repurchase or subscribe to a new license.

**What problems is Avid Pro Tools solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have found Pro Tools to be the most compatible when it comes to all-round usage on an array of devices. Pro Tools is the most commonly used digital audio workstation (DAW) as an audio teaching assistant, as it is compatible with different audio mixing consoles and laptop operating systems. With different installment plans, and education discounts available, Pro Tools appeals to students and professionals looking to further their audio knowledge and experience. This has benefitted me, as the education discount applies with evidence of being an ongoing current teacher or student. Thus, making Pro Tools a great choice for those studying or working with audio.

  ### 8. Pro tools experience

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Soham S. | Project Management Intern, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 19, 2023

**What do you like best about Avid Pro Tools?**

The thing that I like the most about pro tools is that it is very flexible, it can be used for recording, mixing, mastering, production. It also is very similar to how analog consoles work. That really helps with understand of routing in an actual studio console. Plus its the industry standard so its used everywhere. Pro tools offers a lot of useful editing shortcuts that help you while podcast editing, sync dubbing, sound design etc.

**What do you dislike about Avid Pro Tools?**

Although music production can be done in Pro tools, its a bit unfriendly with the GUI and stock instruments specifically for music production. If that can be added Pro tools will be unbeatable.

**What problems is Avid Pro Tools solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Avid Pro tools helps me edit podcasts in an efficient and quick way. I am able to edit more podcasts in a day which improves productivity and enables me to fulfill client deadlines.

  ### 9. The Ideal DAW for multiplex music production

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Music | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 28, 2023

**What do you like best about Avid Pro Tools?**

Avid Pro Tools is an advanced and powerful music composition facilities. One of the most impressive aspects of it is its production versatility-It fully supports instrumental and vocal production which in my opinion is highly essential for productivity.

It is supported on most operating systems and it's available in more than 5 llanguages. I think it's great for anyone looking for a DAW that supports complex music production( rock, rock'n' roll and more).

Works very well on the mobile app too.

**What do you dislike about Avid Pro Tools?**

Some of the major downsides of Avid Pro Tools are:

-It's not very engaging-meaning that, I don't actually find the UI entertaining and hence, no fun at all.

-It only offers recurring subscription options which are way more costly & stressful than similar alternatives which don't even favor some of us.

-A few other support services come at extra cost and are even limited.

-The DAW itself doesn't work well with most third-party plugins that I've tested. It kept me less productive because there are plugins that I'm addicted to working with on every single piece.

-In terms of ease of use, I think pro tools is not very well at it. It's not for beginners ( maybe others, but not me).

-Additional plugins come at extra cost( even after subscription) and they are exorbitant.

**What problems is Avid Pro Tools solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Nice & all-in-one tool for advanced music composition.

  ### 10. Very practical and user friendly for professionals

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Media Production | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 06, 2023

**What do you like best about Avid Pro Tools?**

The best thing about Avid Pro tools is the ability to have control on every little aspect of your project. With a user friendly experience, you can edit your audio in a very professional and easy way.

**What do you dislike about Avid Pro Tools?**

There is only one thing that i dislike about avid pro tool for which is the old school interface and the lack of updates, it would be cool if they could add some Ai tools

**What problems is Avid Pro Tools solving and how is that benefiting you?**

You can go into a lot of aspects in a cery easy way to make the best out of your audio project in the easiest way, which is different in other audio editing softwares

  ### 11. Pro Tools is Industry Standard For A Reason

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Stephen B. | Producer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 25, 2022

**What do you like best about Avid Pro Tools?**

Pro Tools is infinitely flexible in all of the ways that post-production sound craftspersons require. There isn't a situation where I need to "do something" or "create something" as part of a deliverables package and Pro Tools can't make it happen in a clean and efficient manner. I often find myself needing to buss or route something and end up saying "I love Pro Tools" because my needs are instantly met.

**What do you dislike about Avid Pro Tools?**

It is expensive, no question. But I feel the value is there for the money. The company is slow to respond to user requests but when new features are implemented they are well-done. It is a complex program, too, so the learning curve for new editors / mixers is a bit steep.

**What problems is Avid Pro Tools solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The ever-increasing requirement for deliverables in film and tv post is made efficiently achievable through the integration of continually expanding bussing and monitoring options.

  ### 12. Music Industry

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 30, 2023

**What do you like best about Avid Pro Tools?**

I like the workflow and design of Avid. Over the years they have made upgrades to benefit the users and those in the music industry. I appreciate the bouncing features, which save a lot of time!

**What do you dislike about Avid Pro Tools?**

It would have to be the past versions that did not allow you to bounce in play after you mixed a song. That would waste a lot of time and cause much friction in a session.

**What problems is Avid Pro Tools solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Timing when making music and keeping files organized. The design is easy on the eyes and helpful when working with multiple tracks in a big session of 48 plus tracks.

  ### 13. Professional music composing solution

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Yash S. | Quality Assurance Officer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 06, 2022

**What do you like best about Avid Pro Tools?**

Protools is Complete music composing solution which has a professional touch & quality,
I can record songs, compose music, mix & master , edit the music without any hassle with bets quality ever.
It's interphase is also easy to use.

**What do you dislike about Avid Pro Tools?**

It is good for making music, but not better for song recording, some times I observe latency in recordings which can be maintened by coordinating with audio interphase otherwise it is good.

**What problems is Avid Pro Tools solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Making multiple jinse music with managing multiple layers of clips , it also work best in my Intel celeron system. Which makes it usable without investing too much in upgrading my system.

  ### 14. Power and quality to produce audio

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alejandro A. | Audio-Visual Producer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 10, 2022

**What do you like best about Avid Pro Tools?**

This DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) is a leader in the music production industry, and it is not for less, its fluidity and multiple tools are great, latency is managed automatically, the effect and instrument plugins that it comes from the factory are of high quality I don't usually throw so many flowers at a show but the guys at avid have done a great job.

**What do you dislike about Avid Pro Tools?**

I don't like the fact that there is no support for vst instruments and effects natively, since not all plugins on the market are in the aax format, which is the only one currently supported by pro tools. In addition, the audio engine sometimes crashes when editing audio clips or using beat detective.

**Recommendations to others considering Avid Pro Tools:**

Always restart the pc if it gives you any kind of problem, since the failure usually continues if you don't.

**What problems is Avid Pro Tools solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With this daw I can do everything when it comes to audio, although I don't recommend it much for midi, it's an audio master. I have produced music from its capture with my antelope zen go audio interface, which I have configured without any problem, I have edited with great precision thanks to the graphical tools in its user interface, and I have mixed my music in an entertaining and pleasant way. thanks to this software.

  ### 15. The best DAW to produce audio

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aderly S. | MIDI Producer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 10, 2021

**What do you like best about Avid Pro Tools?**

The powerful HD audio engine is wonderful, it offers the possibility to edit the audio elastically in real time, thus you will achieve a correct quantization without damaging the original file. I also like the plugins it brings as they are sufficient for a professional mix, the support for any audio or midi device is impeccable as well.

**What do you dislike about Avid Pro Tools?**

I think they have lagged far behind in the midi edition, moving the position notes creates an unforgivable delay. Also, MIDI functionalities are limited compared to other MIDI production systems.

**Recommendations to others considering Avid Pro Tools:**

It is highly recommended for producing audio mixes and advanced edits, however if you are going to work exclusively with vst or MIDI instruments there are other options that you should consider.

**What problems is Avid Pro Tools solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have made audio mixes with plugins from avid and some from other developers, since although the ones it comes with from the factory are good, some others offer me functions that make my work much easier; I have easily edited the tempo and restored audio files thanks to its powerful audio processing engine.

  ### 16. Great to use DAW

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gary S. | Account Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 07, 2022

**What do you like best about Avid Pro Tools?**

It can be very easy to figure out and work, lots of pre-available options to help your music production needs. Although there is a little learning curve, it doesn't take long for a beginner to learn how to use the DAW

**What do you dislike about Avid Pro Tools?**

Unlike Logic Pro, there seems to be a lack of preloaded virtual instruments and plug in's. Drum keys are not labelled, which can make it difficult for those who are not famliar to drums

**What problems is Avid Pro Tools solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The ease to use is the biggest benift. I have only recently started using the system, but have found it very easy to start and edit my tracks. There is lots of support online for the system to if you need help

  ### 17. Pro tools - Best Recording Experience

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Suraj M. | Music Producer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 29, 2022

**What do you like best about Avid Pro Tools?**

What I like the most are its Recording features. Fast recording and a clean and simple way to edit the audio. you can connect your Interface easily as it supports all the basic interfaces.

**What do you dislike about Avid Pro Tools?**

I found the pitch correction tool a little complicated and it doesn't support Vst's and Au. Shortcuts are little confusing.

**Recommendations to others considering Avid Pro Tools:**

Music tr this. If you are a person who is onto recording stuff all the time this is for you.

**What problems is Avid Pro Tools solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My Recording sessions complete much faster than before. The best recording software out there.

  ### 18. The best for producing audio

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adan R. | MIDI Producer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 08, 2022

**What do you like best about Avid Pro Tools?**

The audio engine is the best on the market, I have been able to fill sessions with many channels, the latency if you know how to configure it is very good. It brings a lot of useful tools that are enough for any job, be it editing, mixing or mastering, it is a very powerful and complete software. I like the elastic audio engine for quantizing and editing, it's very good if you know how to use it correctly.

**What do you dislike about Avid Pro Tools?**

I've had some crashes with some external plugins, and it's a bit annoying because sometimes you have to restart the computer to get the program to work properly again.

**Recommendations to others considering Avid Pro Tools:**

I have not found another program to produce audio so complete, professional and easy to use, do not hesitate to try it. although to produce MIDI maybe there are other better options.

**What problems is Avid Pro Tools solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have made complete musical productions starting from its recording, editing, mixing and mastering; Using tools integrated in the DAW itself as well as some effect plugs and external virtual instruments. i must also say that the virtual instruments integrated in pro tools are fantastic, i love mini grand!!

  ### 19. Professional Audio Editing Software

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nicola B. | Web Designer & Developer, Internet, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 18, 2016

**What do you like best about Avid Pro Tools?**

I think Pro Tools doesn't even need a review. But we are here for it, so: Simply put, Pro Tools is the best audio editing/mixing/producing software, ever.

**What do you dislike about Avid Pro Tools?**

I think its learning curve is quite too hard, but it worth the wait

**Recommendations to others considering Avid Pro Tools:**

I thins it's really one of the best audio software on the market, so, if you do a lot of mixing, editing and stuff, you should definitely consider buying it

**What problems is Avid Pro Tools solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used Pro Tools at the Conservatory of Cuneo to produce and mix some electroacoustic composition, and i loved it.

  ### 20. Pro tools is a go to and essential tool for pro audio production

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Entertainment | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 30, 2021

**What do you like best about Avid Pro Tools?**

The workflow and program layout of Pro Tools is what I like best. Whether dealing with music arrangements or editing dialogue for multicast audio books or sometimes doing both simultaneously the flexibility and ease of use interface if Pro Tools makes that possible.

**What do you dislike about Avid Pro Tools?**

I dislike that the marker name display when viewed from the marker list is a fixed width. Many times marker names are longer than the text field that displays. This makes viewing the full marker name impossible. I also dislike that you are unable to playlist clip groups.

**What problems is Avid Pro Tools solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having a centralized workspace to bring together and edit music, dialogue, archive audio, and sound design elements. Not only does this provide a centralized workspace to operate but it makes working on a project within a team and sharing a session back and forth possible. One of the most useful workflows is the use of clip groups and how those can be used to share edits but also maintain the ability to adjust those edits at a later date.

  ### 21. The Industry Standard

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joe M. | President and Board Member, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 10, 2022

**What do you like best about Avid Pro Tools?**

Protools is the industry standard for recording and mixing. I can do almost anything I can dream.

**What do you dislike about Avid Pro Tools?**

The cost is tough on an independent music maker

**Recommendations to others considering Avid Pro Tools:**

If you can afford the ticket, this is the one to use

**What problems is Avid Pro Tools solving and how is that benefiting you?**

the ability no to collaborate remotely with others has made making music during a pandemic much easier

  ### 22. I am my own audio engineer

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** erick z. | Operator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 21, 2021

**What do you like best about Avid Pro Tools?**

That it is an easy software to use, I am an audiophile so I tend to remix or remaster some of my independant recordings.

**What do you dislike about Avid Pro Tools?**

I still haven't figured out how to do surround mixes & do not know where to get help with it.

**Recommendations to others considering Avid Pro Tools:**

I like this product mostly because I am a gear head, so I would not know how to get the general public interested.

**What problems is Avid Pro Tools solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I made many concert recordings on DAT back in the 1990'S. It has helped me out for preserving my recordings & remixing them.

  ### 23. Using ProTools for radio advertising, and pocasting

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nickolas B. | Commercial Audio Production Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 12, 2021

**What do you like best about Avid Pro Tools?**

I like that the interface of ProTools, and functionality of it is good and easy to use. The PlugIns to use are good, and easy to operate such as the compression/Eq. It is also very easy to navigate, edit, mix, and master the audio when using Pro Tools. The ProTools Avid website is also very good, when you are needing to troubleshoot problems that occur when using Pro Tools. Its easy to mix and master audio through the Maxim master. There a lot of good short keys / edits that make it easier to edit, mix and master the audio that I am working on. I also like the fact that there is a good support network, with the AVID troubleshooting team online who can help with anything if needed. I also like the fact that I can cancel my subcription and resubscribe to Pro Tools at any time.

**What do you dislike about Avid Pro Tools?**

The fact that when using ProTools it stops me from being able to view other videos, and sounds on websites, or open up videos and are not functional. Even when I quit the software, I still cannot play the audio or videos, the only way that I have found to troubleshoot this is by restarting my computer. Also the software lags when multiple stems are added into the project that I am working on. This often slows down the computer or stops the program completley when in playback, and comes up with an error message. I also dislike the monthly subscription cost for what it is, yes the software is great, but for the return on investment it is hard for Freelancers to get by when they have to pay over fifty New Zealand dollars a month. I also dislike the amount of CPU meamory that ProTools uses to function as it slows the rest of my computer down alot. I also dislike how you can open new projects on older versions of ProTools, I think the projects should all be able to open no matter what version of the ProTools software you have, it should be easy to use cross platform projects. Another downside of ProTools is that it is more of live sound recording, editing, mixing and mastering software as opposed to a beat making software, it is difficult to create music, beats or sounds in the software I would say the software involves more editing. Another dislike of mine when using Pro Tools.

**Recommendations to others considering Avid Pro Tools:**

Pro Tools is a great audio editing, mixing, recording and production software if you are looking at using the software for voice recording, editing, mixing, and mastering. Or if you are looking at editing, mixing, and mastering stems then Pro Tools is a great software to use, however if you are looking at using the software for beatmaking or music production, it is a little more difficult to operate. Although there is the possibility of using MIDI instruments that connect into the software, to create music, and do music production.

If you have a computer that has a big CPU, then that will help when using the software and playing back the audio, however you may run into issues if your computer or the device you are using has a low CPU you may experience a lot of issues with playback, and editing and the software may either stop completley or slow down.

The cost for ProTools is significant so if you are going to use it a lot, it is a great return on investment so make sure that you weigh up the pros and cons before using the software. However the best way to see if ProTools is a good option for you to use, would be to use Pro Tools First, it is a freeware version of Pro Tools that will give you the basics of editing, mixing and mastering that Pro Tools has to offer.

It is great as well to troubleshoot problems with the online Avid website, they have a community of people to help if you need it if you are experiencing issues with the software. They can also help find you plug-ins that will help work on your projects.

If you want to collaborate with others, and work together then Pro Tools is good, as it allows you to collaborate live together and work on the cloud.

Whilst Pro Tools is the more expensive option, it is definitely the industry standard for almost any all audio production. Think Abbey Road who produce great music albums, as well as Freelance Podcasters, and radio commercial audio engineers. Pro Tools is also great as when you have completed the project, you can bounce down the audio faster than real time.

Pro Tools is definitely by far a better audio editing, mixing, and mastering solution as it doesn't over compress or squash the sound of your dynamic audio, like the likes of software such as Audacity, where Audacity crushes the audio, and removes alot of the dynamic range, and headroom of the audio in Audacity. Pro Tools keeps the dynamic range of the audio, and ensures that the quality of the audio is perfect.

When using Pro Tools, it uses a range of different plug ins, you can use multiple different compressors when working on a project, and most are very simplistic to use. This is the same for all other plug ins including equalizers, and master compressors.

The newest version of ProTools has a link that allows you to link up to Ableton. ProTools standard allows you to have a maximum of 32 inputs/tracks, so this is ideal if you are mainly working with vocals doing editing, mixing, and mastering. However if you do alot of music instrument / music production the Pro Tools Ultimate subscription may be more worthwhile, as this allows you to record, edit, mix, and master with an unlimited amount of tracks and plug ins.

My suggestion would be before jumping straight into purchasing ProTools Ultimate, is trying out ProTools First, and then seeing if you can easily operate the software/like it, then trying the standard ProTools versions too see if that is all you need.

Because, whilst ProTools gives you a lot of benefits, and unlimited use of tracks, and plug ins, it definitely comes at a costly price.

Another issue to consider when it comes to price, is the cost off Pro Tool Plug in add ons, these add ons can become very costly. It is also sad, because ProTools doesn't coperate with third party plug ins / or softwares making the functionality, and capability of what you can work on a bit more limiting.

**What problems is Avid Pro Tools solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use ProTools for a lot of Freelance work, podcast editing, mixing, and mastering, as well as radio production / advertising. The benefits are I can bounce down the audio as both Wav, and MP3 files, as well as bounce down and send as seperate stems, or full mixdowns. Pro Tools is also helping with the efficiency what I am editing, mixing and working on in general. I have been using ProTools for the last five years, and it is very easy to use.

Another issue that I am facing when I use Pro Tools is the lack of functionality, with other third party softwares, and the cost of using other plug ins or downloading plug ins on top of the NZ $55 dollars I spend a month on the subscription. If I was to get the ultimate subcription then I would need to spend an additional $40 a month meaning that my monthly subscription would be around about $90 NZD a month.

  ### 24. Outdated and Steep Learning Curve

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Emily K. | Childcare Provider, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 04, 2021

**What do you like best about Avid Pro Tools?**

I like all of the detailed options Avid provides. I also enjoy the multiple track options I have and how it lays out the audio on top of the video track, so I can easily see if I have my video and audio aligned.

**What do you dislike about Avid Pro Tools?**

IT IS SO CONFUSING. All of the features are some symbol that takes hours to learn--if you choose to tackle learning them all--but that does not include how they all interact. Nothing is labeled well, and I find myself going to the menu bar at the top of my screen to try and find what I'm looking for. Also, it is incredibly easy to click one bit and your entire project be off kilter, off balanced, or erased entirely. There have been times when I have even started up my software and work would be gone!

**Recommendations to others considering Avid Pro Tools:**

Don't. Just don't. In the broadcast media world, Avid is basically outdated at this point. I recognize that Final Cut Pro is considered primitive, but I honestly would prefer Final Cut Pro over Avid any day, and I would CERTAINLY suggest that Premiere Pro is insurmountably better. Avid is also difficult to export and become compatible with other software, so just a heads up on that as well.

**What problems is Avid Pro Tools solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We tried to use Avid for journalism broadcasting packages, but we found that one has to be highly trained in Avid to have true benefit in it. It is a dance that requires the functions to be used IN A CERTAIN ORDER to achieve an actual high quality piece -- and sometimes going rogue and learning how to use the software in ways it wasn't intended ended up being more efficient in the long run.

  ### 25. Industry Standard but clunky licensing and poor tech support

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dan R. | Music Composer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 16, 2021

**What do you like best about Avid Pro Tools?**

The industry standard for music production and post-production. Relatively stable. It can handle as many plugins and audio tracks as you can throw at it without any trouble. Video integration is what it needs to be. I've used it more or less every day for the last 18 years, and I appreciate the recent efforts to freshen up the look and add new, more powerful features.

**What do you dislike about Avid Pro Tools?**

Clunky and occasionally debilitating licensing through iLok. This is a significant and consistent problem and is reason enough not to recommend Pro Tools unless you need it for industry reasons. They should use a more straightforward, less invasive, or integrated licensing system like the ones used by Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft 365.

I use it every day and can honestly report that I run into a licensing issue once a month on average. The need for a persistent internet connection is unreasonable and potentially fatal to a project on deadline. It has been a while since I called Avid tech support, but historically they have not been quick to resolve licensing issues. It's a shame because Pro Tools itself is a fine DAW, worthy of a full recommendation otherwise.

Again, the licensing across Avid's product line is clunky at best, and can be debilitating due to the invasive nature of the iLok system. It's not just me who has these problems. They are ubiquitous.

If you use Macintosh computers, you should use Logic.

**What problems is Avid Pro Tools solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is the industry standard. It's not really designed to solve problems.

  ### 26. Its the current goto standard DAW

its features and ease of use overall. ability to share with other professionals.

**What do you dislike about Avid Pro Tools?**

The higher cost and the subscription pricing model, as well as a slight learning curve you have to overcome.

**Recommendations to others considering Avid Pro Tools:**

If you need to work with others or just want the default standard DAW, spend the money and go with protools.

**What problems is Avid Pro Tools solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ability to work with others in the same field and, again, having the best DAW tools available.

  ### 27. Comprehensive and Relatively Easy to Use

**Reviewed Date:** January 18, 2021

**What do you like best about Avid Pro Tools?**

I love Pro Tools as it is versatile and allow for surgical editing. It also serves as a great DAW for not only recording but also mixing and mastering. It's also easy to use buses and sends.

**What do you dislike about Avid Pro Tools?**

My only dislike is that it is not well optimised for midi and production work. It has the facilities but there's a reason people prefer to go for Ableton or Cubase for productions.

**Recommendations to others considering Avid Pro Tools:**

Pro Tools is considered an industry standard for a reason and it is the perfect DAW for a recording engineer to use in their studio and also perfect for mixing and mastering. Only downside is the midi production capabilities.

**What problems is Avid Pro Tools solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pro Tools has solved my problem of making tiny detailed edits and for quickly getting a mix together through its simple interface.

  ### 30. Look no further for mixing sound and audio

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mafdy M. | Android Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 14, 2020

**What do you like best about Avid Pro Tools?**

the interface overall is not complicated and easy to learn, adding tracks with their inserts and sends, adding aux tracks, routing audio between tracks, these things i find them hard to do in other DAWs and it's easy to do all of these in Pro tools, i can rely on it while working on music or on mixing music, recording and quantizing a midi track can't be more simple enough, i wish just there was more midi options like in studio one or logic pro, audio wav editing is simply the best feature in Pro tools, and using the plugins suite for quick editing makes it more useful, it's easy to split and cross-fade audio files, recording multiple takes and comparing between them is easy to do in Pro tools

**What do you dislike about Avid Pro Tools?**

they don't support vst plugins out of the box so i have to look for a host plugin to use them, sometimes the app startup takes a lot of time, the app is buggy and sometimes can't detect my audio interfaces correctly, i have to constantly save the session because i know the app is buggy and it can crash anytime which makes it no reliable for long recording sessions, the software lacks in music composition and in midi functions where others are better but it can do the essentials in midi very good it's just the competition is getting better,

**What problems is Avid Pro Tools solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mixing audio, making music, it's easy to achieve what i want

  ### 31. Pro-Tools is a High-Powered Standard for Audio Engineering

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Howard G. | MC, Producer, & Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 10, 2020

**What do you like best about Avid Pro Tools?**

Pro Tools is an industry standard for recording, mixing, and mastering. I enjoy the vocal clarity Pro Tools provides, as well as the comprehensive mixing tools available for the user.

**What do you dislike about Avid Pro Tools?**

Pro Tools can be difficult to navigate for an inexperienced user. Tools for editing audio can be challenging to use, negatively affecting an engineer's ability to work quickly. I have also found Pro Tools' production tools to be lackluster, and I favor other DAWs in place of Pro Tools when looking to compose music.

**What problems is Avid Pro Tools solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The greatest benefit of Pro Tools is the ability to achieve consistent, high-quality vocal recordings. Dynamic mixing tools cement Pro Tools as a valuable recording asset. I can also compose using other DAWs, and share the files with Pro Tools to achieve the highest quality mix.

  ### 32. Industry standard music recording software

**Reviewed by:** Ben R. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 18, 2019

**What do you like best about Avid Pro Tools?**

Pro tools is the only recording software I use due to how it operates and looks like a mixing desk from the way signal is handeled.

**What do you dislike about Avid Pro Tools?**

Nothing. I’ve always been a fan of it, since 2009.

**Recommendations to others considering Avid Pro Tools:**

It’s fantastic, give it a try.

**What problems is Avid Pro Tools solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I’m solving how to get commercial quality recording in my home studio.

**Recommendations to others considering Avid Pro Tools:**

Make sure you get descriptive with your filenames!

ProTools lets you focus on tweaking audio. A lot of advanced plugins are only available in Protools

  ### 34. Pro Tools: Essential flagship product for audio production

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Paul G. | Marketing, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 24, 2019

**What do you like best about Avid Pro Tools?**

Pro Tools is the industry standard for audio post-production. In my opinion, it is the best program for audio editing and mixing. Familiarity with the shortcut keys can transform you into an assistant capable of flying in audio. Nothing is as precise or efficient.

**What do you dislike about Avid Pro Tools?**

There is a learning curve; it's a bit difficult to understand, but once it's done, it's great! It is very efficient and has everything you need to produce high-quality recordings.

**Recommendations to others considering Avid Pro Tools:**

Pro Tools is and has been the reference for many professionals in the creative world. If you are serious about audio editing, you must try it.

**What problems is Avid Pro Tools solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pro Tools is my preferred solution for audio production and post-production for visual media. It is powerful enough for this endeavor and, as an industry standard, has proven to be a very effective collaboration platform, essential for the proper rendering of the image.

  ### 35. The Industry Standard

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** B Bacc S. | Business Development, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 09, 2019

**What do you like best about Avid Pro Tools?**

I'm really a fan of the plugin automation as well as the ability to record and punch in with low latency plugins enabled. I also like the being able to commit tracks whenever I need to save CPU usage or clean up my session.

**What do you dislike about Avid Pro Tools?**

My biggest gripe with Pro Tools revolves around compatibility issues with Microsoft Windows 10 that make themselves apparent ever so often. For example, using a laptop with multiple cores results in random CPU spikes that I have found a temporary solution for.

**Recommendations to others considering Avid Pro Tools:**

If you're a student you can get a 50% discount, it's what I did. Try it out first before buying.

**What problems is Avid Pro Tools solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pro Tools is truly a hub for putting together all components of a song. Once you have your instrumentals and vocals, the possibilities are endless. There are so many top notch plugins available that can be utilized in creative ways to get the sound you're looking for.

  ### 36. Standards and Short Falls

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Music | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 05, 2019

**What do you like best about Avid Pro Tools?**

Pro Tools has been a staple in the industry for many years and its expected that studios have it available for sessions and users. It makes it easy when I can drop into a different studio and get right to work with something that I'm familiar with.

**What do you dislike about Avid Pro Tools?**

The lack of easy to use composition tools and the limited Sibelius integration when assigning sample libraries to score work and trying to edit parts. The idea is there, but its not fully implemented like it is in other software.

**Recommendations to others considering Avid Pro Tools:**

Check your needs and wants before purchasing but know that you're buying something that has stood out as king for years but still needs to catch up in a few areas.

**What problems is Avid Pro Tools solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've benefited from the ability to have a workflow designed to speed up the creative process and not hinder a musicians ability to be free to improvise in a session or when editing/mixing. Knowing that I can take my work anywhere now, makes a huge difference now that iLok cloud has been implemented.

  ### 37. No Comparison For The Industry Standard

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chris K. | Engineer, Music, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 08, 2019

**What do you like best about Avid Pro Tools?**

Easy UI. Lightning fast workflow capabilities. A plethora of shortcuts and commands to enhance the aforementioned. If I only had to use 1 DAW the rest of my life, it would be this one.

**What do you dislike about Avid Pro Tools?**

MIDI is poorly integrated and seems like an afterthought. It works and gets the job done but is rough along the way. I would never suggest the DAW for a producer who isn’t using a MIDI input device.

**What problems is Avid Pro Tools solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It’s amazing that recording, mixing and mastering can be done all within one box. I could write forever about all the solutions even the stock plugins have allowed for me.

  ### 38. Absolute Standard and Staple

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Religious Institutions | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 19, 2019

**What do you like best about Avid Pro Tools?**

Pro Tools workflow is very fast and effective. Is the most intuitive while also comprehensive DAW that I work with. Nothing is missing or lacking in workflow or tools.

**What do you dislike about Avid Pro Tools?**

Nothing to dislike. Pro Tools is my constant go-to. I use 3-4 different DAWs for different applications in my work, but if there's one that does it all and I go back to, its Pro Tools. Only gripe is that sometimes it will crash and show error codes that when I google have no known reasons or solutions. I mostly solve it through trial and error on my own or find workarounds.

**Recommendations to others considering Avid Pro Tools:**

If you're looking for DAW to do it all, Pro Tools is an absolute must. It is easy to learn and get resources on, and your experience in Pro Tools will translate over into any other DAW you use.

**What problems is Avid Pro Tools solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pro Tools makes drum editing and comping very easy. The smart grid makes my work very fast, and something like snare-replacement is very easy.

  ### 39. The Industry Standard for Audio!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matthew W. | Music Composer, Music, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 06, 2019

**What do you like best about Avid Pro Tools?**

Pro Tools is very quick for editing audio and the industry standard found in every studio for a reason. It works for audio recording and editing and mixing!

**What do you dislike about Avid Pro Tools?**

I dislike the software for writing music and programming MIDI. Sequencing can take a long time in the software and is not as intuitive as it is in other softwares such as Logic Pro X, Cubase Pro 10, or Ableton Live. Additionally, the routing features aren't as advanced as Cubase's or Logic's and can be a bit clunky with some things such as batch exporting stems or multitracks.

**Recommendations to others considering Avid Pro Tools:**

If you're considering getting Pro Tools, start off by evaluating the free version on the AVID site, and also try other DAW's before buying. Each and every DAW is really good but some excel at certain things over others so finding the best one for your needs should be taken into account.

**What problems is Avid Pro Tools solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pro Tools is the software we use to record music and edit it for most film/TV projects. It's many key commands have made it very fast for editing audio and the grouping features are the best among all the other DAW's (Digital Audio Workstations). You also have a comfort with Pro Tools knowing that it's the industry standard for audio so every major recording studio has access to it and you won't ever walk into a pro studio that doesn't have it. The surround audio functions are features are also the best of any DAW's and that alone can justify the price if you're working on film/TV and need to be able to export quad or multitrack multichannel audio stems.

  ### 40. It’s fine, but seems less vital than it used to.

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Entertainment | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 25, 2019

**What do you like best about Avid Pro Tools?**

Pro Tools has a very simple unadorned and easy to use layout for most mixing tasks. It’s onboard time stretch, x-form seems to create less audio artifacts than other DAW’s native time stretch. It’s also really intuitive to navigate around in, which allows for quick workflow. Also the Tab to Transient feature is so helpful and is much needed in other daws.

**What do you dislike about Avid Pro Tools?**

It takes an inordinate amount of time to load. Sometimes it has taken a whole hour to load. A whole hour. I removed all my plugins from its folders so they don’t slow it down and it still takes like 10 minutes. I’m also not a fan of it’s subscription model. It’s really designed to keep leaching off artists and creators of their limited funds when all that is updated for our continued payment is like, what making sure it’s compatible with the newest OS? Lame. The single time buy should really cover these updates, is it really that hard to make sure your program still works with a new OS? Is it really worth our continued money from now till kingdom come.Pro

**Recommendations to others considering Avid Pro Tools:**

If you’re looking for a writing setup, then PT is a clunky ugly DAW, you really can mix and record audio just as well in most other DAWs the only real reason to have and know Pro Tools as opposed to its competitors is because other people are using it. And that is a very good reason, it has gotten me a few jobs just because I know how to use it.

**What problems is Avid Pro Tools solving and how is that benefiting you?**

PT is still an industry standard, so its the best way to deliver the final music to the production companies. There’s also some neat little tricks Sometimes I need to just line up multiple clips in a row and the shuffle feature has been the best tool for this job.

  ### 41. I have been working with pro tools for at least 7 years and in no doubt is the Best DAW

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Entertainment | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 13, 2019

**What do you like best about Avid Pro Tools?**

The way it handles Audio
Runs big sessions easily
It offers a rock-solid performance with extremely low latency

**What do you dislike about Avid Pro Tools?**

To Actually produce music with samples and notes, is a pain in the heck, I rather make music with Ableton or logic which is extremely easy to manage as a producer

**Recommendations to others considering Avid Pro Tools:**

Read alot before using pro tools, is a very dificulte DAW if you do not have study the software before, learn the shortcuts it will be of much help

**What problems is Avid Pro Tools solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The way you can mix, and master on pro-tools is high quality compare to other DAW, this DAW was created by Engineer Evan brooks and Peter , who specialized in Electrical engineering and computer science. So the way they build this DAW, was special for Mixing, and Mastering I would say.

  ### 42. Industry Standard Program

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 24, 2018

**What do you like best about Avid Pro Tools?**

Pro Tools is the current industry standard in music production . Pro Tools isn't the easiest program to learn but once you get the hang of it, it becomes a lot easier over time.

**What do you dislike about Avid Pro Tools?**

It is very easy to freeze the program depending on which plug-ins one uses.

**What problems is Avid Pro Tools solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a college music technology program, it is only smart for us to use Pro Tools as it is the industry standard.

  ### 43. Thirty years of working with Pro Tools

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Entertainment | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 10, 2019

**What do you like best about Avid Pro Tools?**

This DAW is relatively easy to 'get going with'. Most post houses and engineers use this DAW, and it is compatible with a myriad of plugin software manufacturers.

**What do you dislike about Avid Pro Tools?**

Pricing, subscription based upgrades and updates are worth hard consideration when choosing this DAW. World-wide, it's the standard. However, because of the amount of options and flexibility, it is very wise to spend some time learning the quick keys.

**Recommendations to others considering Avid Pro Tools:**

I would not shell out for a large HD system, or expensive Avid audio interface unless you absolutely needed them. Instead, go with Pro Tools Native and use interfaces from RME, Lynx, MOTU, Universal Audio, etc.

**What problems is Avid Pro Tools solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am delivering high-quality content to my clients. That it is the most widely used DAW makes it easy to go from studio to studio, from session to session, and from post house to post house, without the need for any changes, other than the routing specific to any particular audio interface.

  ### 44. Audio Production with Pro Tools

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Landon P. | Associate Audio Media Designer , Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 15, 2019

**What do you like best about Avid Pro Tools?**

The editing quick keys and mix window layout are without a doubt the most streamlined and easy to use in the industry. The ease of mixing and editing at the same time is indispensable.

**What do you dislike about Avid Pro Tools?**

The requirement of storing the software license on an iLok can be frustrating. There can often be issues loading plugins into a session because the coordination of location and license is so precise. Generally, that's OK in a stationary setup, but if you switch between machines a lot it can be a serious obstacle.

**What problems is Avid Pro Tools solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I exclusively use Pro Tools for all of my sound design and music mixing projects. The speed that's afforded with Pro Tools and the quality of the results make it possible to make complex and precise changes on the fly.

  ### 45. Pro Tools for the Pros

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Beth M. | Beth McPherson, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 22, 2019

**What do you like best about Avid Pro Tools?**

Pro Tools has many functions as a digital audio workstation and is the leader in the music and audio production and engineering industries. MIDI editing is easier than most other digital audio workstations and creating high quality recordings with the built in plugins is also easy.

**What do you dislike about Avid Pro Tools?**

Pro Tools does not include a MIDI library, and therefore, for users who will need to create MIDI tracks, a third party sample library will need to be purchased. There is also a learning curve, and is quite difficult to use until one gets used to it.

**Recommendations to others considering Avid Pro Tools:**

Pro Tools is difficult to learn how to use, but taking the time to do so is more than worth it. There are many things you can do in Pro Tools to edit audio files and create the best quality recordings.

**What problems is Avid Pro Tools solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pro Tools is an excellent audio and MIDI editing tool and allows users to create the highest quality recordings possible. Anything that a user might want to do to an audio file can be done in Pro Tools.

  ### 46. The Universal Key to all Digital Sonic Production

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Broadcast Media | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 16, 2019

**What do you like best about Avid Pro Tools?**

Growing up in the age of the tape recorder, Pro Tools frees me to create sonically in ways I never imagined as a kid. The best part is that the more you use it, the more you LEARN to do with it, and that phenomenon has yet to stop happening for me. I'm forever finding ways to improve both my creativity and my workflow.

**What do you dislike about Avid Pro Tools?**

The cost, and the tiers of functionality, some of which I feel should be open more universally. Like I would love it if there was SOME kind of "Loyalty Reward" as I've been buying and leasing this software for literally decades. It would also be great to get a more economical deal on media composer as a pro tools user. Like maybe AVID could adopt a model more like adobe, an affordable one size fits all "everything Avid" deal.

**Recommendations to others considering Avid Pro Tools:**

It's the gold standard and universal language for audio production in the broadcast, entertainment and music industry. If you're serious about sound, it's a must-have, in my opinion and experience.

**What problems is Avid Pro Tools solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows me to create an effectively endless audio landscape as required for any project.

  ### 47. Industry standard for a reason

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chris W. | Director of Bands, Education Management, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 15, 2018

**What do you like best about Avid Pro Tools?**

I like the ease of use and how this program handles audio editing. I love how through the years with each update it gets better but I have not had to relearn the system. It just keeps getting better with each update.

**What do you dislike about Avid Pro Tools?**

I wish the MIDI editor was a little more like other DAWs. There is also some buggy issues from time to time. I did not like the subscription based model but it looks like that is no longer going to be an issue.

  ### 48. Avid for video editing

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Avid Pro Tools?**

Most people in my newsroom had a fairly good experience using AVID. It is a precise editing software and gets the job done. However, I didn't love it in comparison to other video editing softwares.

**What do you dislike about Avid Pro Tools?**

I have used AVID in the past and found some difficulty using the software. With more experience and practice, I'm sure I would have grown to enjoy using it more BUT I found it was slow and took too much time to edit in comparison to other softwares. I now use adobe premiere for the majority of my video editing. I would say I like using premiere better just because it's quicker and doesn't get slow or clock out on me the way I remember AVID.

**Recommendations to others considering Avid Pro Tools:**

What level of an editor do you consider yourself...if you are a quick learner and fairly skilled then you will most likely enjoy Pro Tools.

**What problems is Avid Pro Tools solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pro Tools solves the business problems of editing video and putting together clips, interviews, etc. I used it in a newsroom setting (local station). All crews (news reporter, photographers, producers) used the software to edit video / audio.

**What do you dislike about Avid Pro Tools?**

The only thing I do not like about pro tools is that it is not a program designed for low resource computers, in order to use pro tools you must have at least 2GB of RAM memory.
