During my tenure at powerschool, I was a part of the Tier 2 team and we worked on multiple API integrations between Enrollment and SIS(database) which benefitted me in learning the API integration process. On top of that, I've learnt a lot in term of Java script which we used to code within the product. ### 2. Their team is great at creating forms and making them customized to the district. They also use School Locator which allows districts the ability to ensure the address is in the district. We have had good success so far using this system to enroll students. **What do you dislike about PowerSchool Enrollment?** I don't like that you don't have much control over your forms. We have to open a support ticket for every modification. I wish that they had better training on using the product as well. I also wish that more data could be transferred over into SIS. **Recommendations to others considering PowerSchool Enrollment:** Ask for what you need upfront and they will work with you. **What problems is PowerSchool Enrollment solving and how is that benefiting you?** Enrollment options for parents other than paper and pen are a MUST these days. And this fills that need. The product allows for full customization and their team does a great job at listening to your unique needs. ### 3. I use it before the students come to school to send out letters. I also use it to find out birthdays so that I can put up my birthday board. I make a binder with all of my student information and put into a binder, and it is so easy to use. **What do you dislike about PowerSchool Enrollment?** I have used PowerSchool for so many years, I really don't thing there is anything that I don't like about it. I have never had any problems with the program. **What problems is PowerSchool Enrollment solving and how is that benefiting you?** I can do attendance and lunch count on the same program, which is very efficient in the morning when there is so much to do. ### 4. Although it looks simple, it is very powerful and easy to use. You cannot screw up anything. **What do you dislike about PowerSchool Enrollment?** Initial setup is alot of work. Deciding not to have too many questions and mapping the data correctly to your SIS takes time and recommend a team, not just a couple staff members. Get input from staff users and parents. **Recommendations to others considering PowerSchool Enrollment:** Make sure you have enough time to properly setup and implement. Do not recommend starting the school year with both New and Returning registration. **What problems is PowerSchool Enrollment solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are using it for new student and returning student registration. It has decreased errors significantly and increased the efficiency of our staff to get needed/updated information into our SIS system by count day. ### 5. Assuming you are only using the default forms and fields/questions, delivering finished applications to PowerSchool SIS is very easy. Very granular control on security settings also allows several users/groups to collaborate on forms. **What do you dislike about PowerSchool Enrollment?** Support for implementation was spotty at best; took several hundred hours of work to properly setup; doesn't fully integrate with PowerSchool SIS customizations (anything made outside the built-in student extension table is ignored and must be manually imported if used). Also, there is only one notes box for administrators to make comments on application, which could be very limiting depending on your workflow. Lastly, the user interface could be made slightly easier to navigate (for new users, it was difficult to find all the tools/features they needed at first glance). **Recommendations to others considering PowerSchool Enrollment:** Great for traditional North American school. IB or International schools; or anyone needing customization, you might be better off looking elsewhere. **What problems is PowerSchool Enrollment solving and how is that benefiting you?** Increased efficiency of processing applications. Helps keep data organized and accurate. No wasted time fussing around with PDF or paper forms (e.g. easy to go paperless). ### 6. Each family enters/updates their own data, which saves on typos. Registrars used to have to look through piles of papers to find minor changes, then rekey everything into PowerSchool manually. **What do you dislike about PowerSchool Enrollment?** There is setup required each year for both new and returning student forms. The process takes some time, but it's worth it! The support team works closely with your district/SU during implementation each year. I would recommend you have a team of people in your district/SU to work through the changes each year. Gather feedback from office staff, administrators, and families to help improve your form(s) each year. **Recommendations to others considering PowerSchool Enrollment:** Highly recommended! Our data has far less errors now that we have taken paper registration out of the process. **What problems is PowerSchool Enrollment solving and how is that benefiting you?** The student/family data is much more accurate and up to date compared to when we were using paper registration forms. We now receive updated data from families annually. In addition to demographic data, we also gather medical and transportation information. ### 12. The information from one student can 'snap' to complete the next students form in the same family. Parents can enroll students from any time. No more sorting. The information is delivered from Registration back to PowerSchool. No more data entry. ### 13. They used to submit everything on paper, whereafter we entered the data into PowerSchool. Once parents have entered the data into PS Registration, we can send it to PowerSchool with a couple of mouse clicks. It has saved us so much time. **What do you dislike about PowerSchool Enrollment?** The setup is a lot of work. The field names in PS Registration and PS Sis are not always the same, which makes data mapping for API more cumbersome that it needs to be. Granted, Registration used to be Infosnap, which was not tied to PowerSchool, but now that it is part of PowerSchool, I hope they will go to work on streamlining it. **Recommendations to others considering PowerSchool Enrollment:** It will change your life if you are used to paper forms. Well worth it if you can afford it, but start setting up plenty of time ahead. **What problems is PowerSchool Enrollment solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use it for new student and returning student registration and information update. It has significantly cut down on paper clutter and data entry. All departments needing the information now have simultaneous access. ### 14. They spend a lot of time entering new student registration information. Having the data entered by parents, reviewed by secretaries and then pushed right into PowerSchool will save them hours in the fall. **What do you dislike about PowerSchool Enrollment?** the cost is a little prohibitive, with all of the other expenses that are accrued through data bases this adds too much. It will not save us much money above the cost. The biggest part of our registration process is address validation and proof of residency, we will continue to have this cost. **What problems is PowerSchool Enrollment solving and how is that benefiting you?** time savings, that is probably the biggest benefit. Previously our staff had to work overtime to try and get data entered for 2000 students accurately. Our staff prefer to have their time back with their family vs overtime in front of a computer. I knew it was above my expertise so turning to something that PowerSchool sells was the only option I wanted to explore. However, we are not currently using the Signature version. We will be updating to the Signature version for 2017-2018. **Recommendations to others considering PowerSchool Enrollment:** Go straight to the Signature version. We do have a unique set up and our support person changed from one year to the next which made it a little harder to get the second year set up. The first year we only had three schools the second year we had sixteen schools. **Recommendations to others considering PowerSchool Enrollment:** It is an amazing resource for our families. No extra web sites, no extra usernames and passwords. It seems way more difficult than it needs to be. It would be nice to have a mobile version/app for parents without computer internet access. **Recommendations to others considering PowerSchool Enrollment:** I do recommend PowerSchool Registration. There is a lot of power in the conditional logic used in PowerSchool Registration which gives us flexibility for different populations. Logging in through PowerParent is easy for parents. **What problems is PowerSchool Enrollment solving and how is that benefiting you?** Parents can register from anyplace that has internet. They can register on their own time, not just during office hours. ### 23. Takes the data entry right out of our hands and allows us to work with students in our main and counseling offices.
