**Reviewed by:** Deepak K. | Senior Integration Consultant, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 02, 2016

**What do you like best about Oracle JDeveloper?**

i have used it with ADF and BPEL plug ins. i like the simple drag and drop feature of it.
you can create a very rich and awesome adf page in only few minutes. i has lots of inbuild templates for creating various webpage components.
Oracle SOA middleware is fully dependent on this IDE now. you can create awesome flow by performing some drag and drop steps.

**What do you dislike about Oracle JDeveloper?**

  ### 33. can be customized for your company's needs

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Antonia C. | Product Development Coordinator, Textiles, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2016

**What do you like best about Oracle JDeveloper?**

I like how you can customize oracle to fit your company's needs. I've worked at two different companies who use it in two completely different ways. One used it nationally for salespeople to request designs and for designers to submit them. They also used to create PO’s for their clients. The company I work for now also used it nationally to organize thousands of different product so that people all over the world can look up a sku and receive all the details for it.

**What do you dislike about Oracle JDeveloper?**

Sometimes you have to do a lot of clicking on different links to get to a certain place and that can be annoying.

**What do you dislike about Oracle JDeveloper?**

**What problems is Oracle JDeveloper solving and how is that benefiting you?**

n/a

  ### 35. Visual and Integrating while coding

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joe C. | Programmer Analyst, Government Administration, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 20, 2016

**What do you like best about Oracle JDeveloper?**

The version that i used 11g, it was a great software version. It was a little easier to create code and modify the structure in the project that your working in.
I found it easier to bind components and drag n drop and linking them. All this is easily done while using their visual interface.
I like that they have some simple templates and layouts. nothing fancy but enough to use the visual editor to create something simple for what your working on.
I eventually stopped working with JD since it wasn't a very big demand with my working projects.

**What do you dislike about Oracle JDeveloper?**

I wish it had more components in the visual editor section.
some areas was a little confusing with its navigation but i think i found it easier once i got to the coding.
for some reason i found a little bit of trouble when i would bind some of the tables. not sure why but i would work every so often.

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle JDeveloper:**

If your strong in coding, or have a great experience in multiple languages, than you will have fun with this software. i found it easier once i started coding rather than trying to do what i wanted to do with the visual interface.
i recommend training because JD has lots of features that are very helpful. also look for websites if you get stuck on something, because there lots of forums with many helpful guides and tips & tricks.

Best and free ware from Oracle, which has limited scope compare to Eclipse/RAD etc..

**What do you dislike about Oracle JDeveloper?**

Oracle has to promote opensource to keep up to date with developers issues.

**What problems is Oracle JDeveloper solving and how is that benefiting you?**

IDE for application development, easy with work space setup & configuration.

  ### 37. Dated Looking, but Useful

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Oracle JDeveloper?**

JDeveloper is a tool developed by Oracle to manage the lifecycle of a developed piece of software. It's free, which is fantastic, but there is very little community support since it isn't so widely used these days. Personally, I was working with a project which used some legacy web services (particularly, the Oracle Application Development Framework) so using JDeveloper to debug these services was a no-brainer.

**What do you dislike about Oracle JDeveloper?**

The UI is very outdated and feels archaic for 2016. Other IDEs provide a much richer UI that also gives the developer more options when writing and testing code. I've used JDeveloper on both OSX and Windows, but I have more experience using the OSX version. From my experience, it was fairly buggy and would crash often.

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle JDeveloper:**

If you must debug and develop using Oracle's ADF, then look no further than Oracle JDeveloper since there aren't any alternatives. If you do not have that requirement, I would look elsewhere for a free IDE.

**What problems is Oracle JDeveloper solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I would have not chosen JDeveloper as an IDE unless I was using a project which utilized web services using Oracle ADF. Since I needed to debug ADF, JDeveloper was a must.

**What do you like best about Oracle JDeveloper?**

I have been using this Oracle Jdeveloper since last 1 year and its simply amazing to have all the development life cycle all at one place i.e Jdeveloper. It supports design through coding, debugging and deploying the code. I like its visual approach to application development. With the good support for the enterprise software development options it became my favorite software for we development. Best application development.

**What do you dislike about Oracle JDeveloper?**

Most important thing that comes into mind while thinking of the disadvantages of Jdeveloper is its limited support for mobile development. Even the support for desktop environment is limited and very poor. It also has very limited uptake of Integrated development environment.

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle JDeveloper:**

Good one to Switch to if you are looking for a comprehensive support for software programming,

**What problems is Oracle JDeveloper solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mostly we were looking for Enterprise software development and Oracle Jdeveloper met those needs.

  ### 39. Great product for creating ADF and OAF pages.

**What do you like best about Oracle JDeveloper?**

J Developer close integration makes it a great way to work with Oracle databases. Oracle ADF and SOA suite gives you all tightly integrate technology solutions within one IDE i.e JDeveloper so
developers life becomes easier.

**What do you dislike about Oracle JDeveloper?**

It isn't a great system for other java work, you don't get the extensive sets and options that you get with Netbeans.

**What problems is Oracle JDeveloper solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have to create a page to upload a excel file data to a table.
