Openstack has an extensive API for all it's core services like Compute, Storage and Networking. Being open source, and flexibly licensed, it allows customized deployment as well as functionality. We are using OpenStack to build a private cloud for our developers to build web applications. So far OpenStack works mostly great and saved us a lot of time! Specially, OpenStack provided a set of powerful CLI tools for administration, and a set of API for us to build an easy-to-use web interface to suit our need, and it runs quite stable. I like openstack framework and its ecosystem. There a lot of drivers in community, and user can also implement a new one for different vendor. I come from a public cloud computing company in China.
