There is limited model features and their inter face is quite dated compare to model integrated development environment (IDES).Their community and support is relatively small .

They support for developers and working with legacy systems DOS and OS/2. it require maintenance and updates but at this time of integrated development environment (IDES) lack of support for this platform.
They help developers to maintain and update older software without switch to different tools. It is free to use which help developers to reduce development cost for small business man.

**What do you like best about Open Watcom?**

I have been using the Watcom compiler for more than 20 years. It is ANSI compliant and a decent IDE. I would choose an alternative if I were starting fresh, but it still accomplishes what I need it to do.

**What do you dislike about Open Watcom?**

I am afraid that it is falling off the curve. I would like an IDE as good as Eclipse and a realistic 64-bit solution. An alternative would be to make the compiler compatible with Eclipse.

**Recommendations to others considering Open Watcom:**

Not a place to start if you have alternatives.

**What problems is Open Watcom solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Big data analytics. It is an essential everyday tool for handling the gigantic databases I use. I frequently analyze datasets with 100 million or more records, and native code is the only real solution.
