It's Free! I mean, who doesn't like free, right? It has the features of those premium live broadcasting software that are pretty expensive. You can multi-stream too! But it requires a strong laptop CPU and GPU. Another is you can customize your overlay and make your layout. I integrate it with zoom when we guess to present a beautiful broadcast with all the design and everything that we want to show on the screen. I also love that there are so many free plugins that you can use to stream on Facebook, Youtube, Twitch, etc. I love to use the live commenter where you can see the live comments scrolling on the screen. There are more things that OBS can offer you. I didn't have enough time to explore its overall since some of the features are not helpful to me personally or at work. Another feature that I love in OBS is you can import/export the templates of the scenes and sources you made. You need to redirect the directory to the new laptop/computer that will receive the template copy. You can also stream and record at the same time! I don't like the fact that OBS doesn't support multi-user. I hope it does, but I think it is not part of their system model. That is the only thing I wish OBS would have in the future since there are like me who work from home, and I need to share the OBS screen with my colleagues during a Livestream since I primarily handle the technical side and they are hosting the event. Providing Livestream events for our audience at work is one of the primary problems with OBS. Livestreaming platforms are expensive, and OBS gives a free alternative solution for that. The only downside is you need knowledge of how things are operated. It is pretty harder compare to those Livestream platforms that require subscriptions. It's free and yet super advanced; can be used to create a simple broadcast in no time but has the muscle to handle a big production with lots of graphics, transitions, inputs and more. Advanced broadcasts that can't be done inside, say, Facebook live producer. My clients ask me to do broadcasts into their FB pages and the native FB producer is not that advanced, so I use OBS to send a professional, elaborate and dynamic stream into FB live producer. Compared to some of the cheaper paid programs you get all the basic features needed to do live streams, webinars, and recordings in a streamlined package. While the interface is very minimal I do wish it was redesigned to make it slightly more intuitive for the less tech-savvy. What problems is OBS Studio solving and how is that benefiting you? This is a great program for mixing screen recording with webcam and document camera feeds. The openness of OBS is the best part. There is a massive community of users that are always willing to help educate, troubleshoot, and promote the app. Anything you can't do "out of the box" surely has a plug-in developed already to further extend the functionality. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about OBS Studio? Because it's an open platform, this can produce bugs. There's no real vetting of plug-ins. You might find a plug-in that does what you want, but it could be so buggy that it causes software crashes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. Recommendations to others considering OBS Studio: It's the gold standard for people wanting to get into streaming content, and the ancillary benefits are outstanding. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What problems is OBS Studio solving and how is that benefiting you? I mainly use open broadcaster software to record tutorial videos for clients. The biggest benefit I have found is that I can record individual application windows, the entire screen, or multiple screens with ease. The latest release of the software also allows me to make my screen recording appear to other apps as a WebCam so I can share my screen using apps that don't normally support it. What do you dislike about OBS Studio? The settings are not incredibly intuitive, and require a certain level of industry knowledge (and/or Googling) to wrangle.
