Also, the fact that these classes are inheritable and can be used in different contexts is impressive. You can directly program business applications with Omnis Studio, which then run as applications in the browser, making distribution easy. **What do you dislike about Omnis Studio?** Some UI designs cannot be implemented with the internal properties. But fortunately, you can also integrate your own CSS classes. **What problems is Omnis Studio solving and how is that benefiting you?** Very good for developing all kinds of business applications. It's poor that it is unable to develop applications, for platforms such as Windows, macOS and even mobile devices at once for me. The visual development environment makes it difficult to create appealing user interfaces. **What do you dislike about Omnis Studio?** The built in JavaScript and SQL support fails to enable me to incorporate functionality. One downside of Omnis Studio is its lack of user interfaces and intuitive features which is a bit difficult for non technical users. The reporting and data visualization capabilities are somewhat limited making it difficult to present data in a manner. **What problems is Omnis Studio solving and how is that benefiting you?** The technical support provided by Omnis Studio can sometimes is slow and ineffective resulting in delays when troubleshooting and resolving issues. I have created many bespoke solutions for both large companies, and small companies, and we could always bring the solution to market well before we might in any other language. The development, debugging is by far the best around, live editing and debugging can be achieved in the development version. **What do you dislike about Omnis Studio?** The pricing structure is a chunk for a new developer whom may not understand the value of their purchase, but persevere, it is for sure worth every penny. **Recommendations to others considering Omnis Studio:** My use has been mainly for thick client solutions on Windows and Mac clients. I have used the recent solution to create a phone based addition to a main product, but not extensively enough to either say good or bad things about it, except to say, we probably created the solution much quicker than if we had chosen to use any other solution with our background with Omnis. **What problems is Omnis Studio solving and how is that benefiting you?** Like I said, many and varied, Time entry, rosta, payroll and wages, simple recipe databases, stock management, manufacturing stock control, process management... ### 9. I can code and test at the same time. The debugger allows me to step through code, make a change and re-run lines of code. This allows me to more quickly troubleshoot and solve issues as they arise. The Version Control System allows us to work in teams on the various projects that are company works on., code editor, cross-platform deployment. **What do you dislike about Omnis Studio?** Only the latest versions run on the latest versions of Mac OS, so you need to keep upgrading if you're on the Mac platform. **Recommendations to others considering Omnis Studio:** Omnis allows us to bridge multiple technologies together - if you're considering some kind of system integration, Omnis can provide the tools to make this possible. **What problems is Omnis Studio solving and how is that benefiting you?** We write CRM/ERP solutions using Omnis. We have built a modular software system that is being used in various industries. The newer versions of Omnis have the jsClient which allows us to deploy web/mobile applications, so for us Omnis provides us a solution for the sweet spot of integrated desktop apps and web/mobile solutions. ### 10. Omnis Studio is a modern and extensible, object oriented development environment and language. It can be enhanced through the use of third party extensions, and even has the api documentation for writing custom, in-house extensions using a variety of programming languages. **What do you dislike about Omnis Studio?** The pricing structure for developer support and deployment can be a negative for some. We have gone along for the ride with every support option since the early days of the product. It's that good, despite the price. **Recommendations to others considering Omnis Studio:** Although the price of admission is kind of high, we feel that the productivity gains are worth it. Otherwise we would have switched to something else, years ago. We look forward to the future with Omnis. We have been using it to develop world-class applications for a variety of markets over the past 35 years. We don't know of any other development environment that has stood this test of time. There is a lot to be said for that. This product has never failed to permit us to deliver the highest quality product, at the lowest cost. **What problems is Omnis Studio solving and how is that benefiting you?** We have used Omnis Studio for a myriad or solutions. List and Row Vars! Inter- change and manipulation of data is excellent. **What do you dislike about Omnis Studio?** when utilizing externals, documentation can sometime be lacking however it has been quite sometime since I needed to look at that. **Recommendations to others considering Omnis Studio:** Evaluate your needs and if Omins will meet them, and it should without question, then use it. It is best used for programs for which you can cover the run time charges without issue. **What problems is Omnis Studio solving and how is that benefiting you?** Omnis has turned out to be an excellent platform for converting data from one system to another. The ease with which Omnis connects to many different platforms, and handles data from different sources and destinations has allowed us to convert many different systems. Natively cross-platform (Windows, Apple), multi db (Oracle, MySQL, MsSQL, MariaDb among others), versioning ready (git supported too) with major improvements after js client has come out ("mobile ready"). No matter if you use it for developing a robust, first class ERP or if you want to develop a quite simple android or iOS app, you'll get a powerful tool with tons of built-in functions out of the box. A built in fully featured report tool is offered out of the box. Community is growing fast, the Omnis Academy can give you great insights and countless tips. Documentation (manuals, tips, videos) available online on Omnis official website or on partner websites (like StudioTips). **What do you dislike about Omnis Studio?** Not much to be disliked at the moment. Just waiting for the 'Omnis Dev Cookbook' **What problems is Omnis Studio solving and how is that benefiting you?** Built in debugging tool, just the easiest way to write code and test it! From the easiest snippets way up to the most difficult functions and classes. Used recently to develop integrations between ERPs and web services (REST Api) of major e-commerce platforms like Magento2, Prestashop. Shopify and others (i.e. WordPress WooCommerce Api too) due to easy and "hassle free" manipulation of JSON objects in Omnis as of 8.1.x. Also developing ERP environments that power easy user-friendly datamining due to the powerful leverage of Omnis classes and functions (not to mention broad db support). Possibility to build SQL views and easily import them in Omnis (within just seconds...) to be used as "schemas" is another big plus that spare lot of time. ### 13. If you know multiple RADs and need a powerful solution and is short on time, you;d chose Omnis more times than not. **What do you dislike about Omnis Studio?** Not enough market exposure, not for lack of effort, but because Big Companies, with Big $'s, supress the success of better tools and "build" a perception and following. **Recommendations to others considering Omnis Studio:** Initial steep learning curve, but then it's an easy plateau thereafter for many years to come.
