Importomatic's ease of use and range of fields which can be imported is a definite plus. We used to have to enter new parents and students as new records each summer in August, and it would take one person 8-10 days to get them all done. Now we can set the import up in the morning and then do all the importing in the afternoon. 90% of the info we need to enter can be imported now in a single day. The initial setting up of profiles and dictionaries can be complicated and time-consuming. But Omatic's support team is incredibly responsive and will answer any questions and spend the time needed to troubleshoot whatever issues may arise. Running imports through Omatic software helps speed up the process of creating batches of gifts from 3rd party platforms we use for crowdfunding and event registrations. Once the import profile is set up, matching fields and data is user friendly and efficient. Omatic helps us reduce duplicate constituent profiles and speeds up our ability to report donation totals to our team. Data can be validated before submitting, making it easy to catch any glitches before running the imports. The import profiles are very robust and specific, which is a great thing... but can take a little time before a user feels confident enough to build them. I love the product. It is user-friendly and fun to learn all that it can do. I took some trainings with a Omatic person when my company first started using this product and i've since learned so many other ways to get the necessary data I need into my RE database. With ImportOmatic, there are a load of excellent features...picking the best is difficult but I really like:

Duplicate search in built, so no need to add import/consituent ids to files before importing

Ability to handle add to existing record in the same import process as adding new records (due to duplicate searching functionality)

There are so many features and settings, initial setup of an import profile can be confusing, and there is potential for things to go wrong if you don't do it right. For example its clever matching can update an existing custom field without an import ID, therefore if you don't set up the profile to add a new custom field each time you can end up overwriting existing data by accident. The varying suite of tools really fills out all of the underlying flaws of some of Blackbaud's CRM software. From making different databases importing/exporting to each other seemless and easy, to managing external data in my system, I really like the robust features. Hands down, what's made Omatic work well for us is the staff who have been willing to walk through issues that have arisen (and a few have). Omatic provides missing functionality in Raiser's Edge and allows users the flexibility to come up with their own solutions for difficult tasks. If something is missing in a Blackbaud product there's a good chance Omatic has a solution for that. ImportOmatic allows us to import data into Raiser's Edge from many different sources. The duplicate matching algorithms help keep duplicates out of our database. I like that I can set up a profile and everything is ready to go when it's time to import the data. Overall, this tool gives us the flexibility we need to import our data.
