It's been really wonderful to automate so much of the process -- getting people into our email system faster and more systematically. It's also, and quite critically, tracking those unsubscribes in real time so we can unsubscribe in our database as well. But, the most unexpected benefit has been finding duplicate records that our database didn't catch because the email existed as a secondary email on a record (and our database only scans primary). **What do you dislike about Omatic Software?** I wish that some parts were a bit more automatic, especially the longer I spend in the system. I spend time daily manually discarding everything below 72% for certain formulas and it'd be nice to set a rule on that or to say if XYZ in this 1:N match match, send it forward (they usually land as an 87% match). These were helpful in the beginning as I began to learn the system, but now I know what my decisions will be and I wish I could automate it. **Recommendations to others considering Omatic Software:** I recommend cleaning up your own database as best as possible prior to beginning your integration with Omatic and have a team to help with the initial clean up as well. **What problems is Omatic Software solving and how is that benefiting you?** Omatic has solved our email situation by creating an integration instead of us having to import lists manually. As noted above in what I like best, the most unexpected benefit has been finding duplicate records that would have otherwise been missed. However, other benefits are the real time transfer of emails from our database to our email client five days a week so that we can start communicating with those folks sooner and begin building that relationship. ### 2. I also applaud Omatic Support! They are always very fast and helpful. **What do you dislike about Omatic Software?** At this point, I would only suggest some simple navigational improvements. **Recommendations to others considering Omatic Software:** If you have external data that you want to bring into Raiser's Edge, you find the native import tool within Raiser's Edge to be overly rigid, and you'd much rather have a flexible and customizable import experience -- you should consider Omatic! The ImportOmatic tool is wonderfully complex and powerful. You can build and save multiple import profiles that tell Raiser's Edge exactly what to do with the data. Take the training to learn how to use it well and so that you don't overlook its capabilities and features. **What problems is Omatic Software solving and how is that benefiting you?** About 5,000 of our organization's employees make bi-weekly payroll deductions to a variety of our philanthropic funds. We use ImportOmatic to confidently manage this incredibly high volume of giving in Raiser's Edge. Additionally, we use List Management to manage our patient lists. The ability to manage, organize and segment this extremely large pool of potential prospects, without clunking up our Raiser's Edge database, is invaluable! ### 3. It makes it easy to import and match to existing records, while creating new constituents as needed. I love that it drops it into a batch for gifts where I can double-check without committing for peace of mind. **What do you dislike about Omatic Software?** The onboarding process was very lengthy. I really wanted to just get trained and get started, but there were a series of steps (very spread out) that had to be done first. I think from the time we signed the contract to being fully trained was about 2 months. I think this could have been shortened by providing some training videos to watch. **Recommendations to others considering Omatic Software:** It does exactly what it says it will and is super easy to use, but be prepared for a lengthy onboarding process. **What problems is Omatic Software solving and how is that benefiting you?** Taking rows and rows of gifts from spreadsheets that were being entered manually into our Raiser's Edge (6-8 hours of work) and getting them entered with just a few steps (30 minutes) with ImportOmatic. ### 4. I love that it allows me to edit/import so many fields in Raiser's Edge that I would not be able to with the standard Raiser's Edge tools. It is an efficient tool, pretty easy to figure out once you've taken the training courses, and I'm still finding ways to use it that I hadn't even thought of when we first acquired it. The support team and training staff I had were amazing too. **What do you dislike about Omatic Software?** Setting up parts of ImportOMatic can be a bit cumbersome or monotonous. The dictionaries take the longest in my opinion, especially when working with messy data. The benefit though is that once you build a dictionary, it is there forever and can be applied across multiple imports. Each import definitely takes some trial and error or test runs, but once you get it right, it's such a wonderful accomplishment. I no longer have to go into individual records to change certain things; I can do it globally and that's worth so much being a sole database administrator and prospect researcher. **Recommendations to others considering Omatic Software:** Definitely get the free trial and tinker around with it if you can. Also, for any regular users of the software, training with the Omatic Team should absolutely be a requirement. You'll find several uses for it you didn't think of, so don't be afraid to ask questions, play with the product in the trial version and learn everything you can about it. Their knowledge base is super helpful too! **What problems is Omatic Software solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use ImportOMatic to change prospect information in Raiser's Edge, import in new graduates, change fund relationships, import in fund changes, etc. There are so many uses once you start using the product that you'll discover that you hadn't thought of in the beginning. The product can be a bit intimidating at first, but it's so worth it. Take the trainings and you'll master it before you know it. ### 5. ImportOmatic enables import to RE on the fly. Unlike the native import function in RE, this tool can import both new and existing records and data, with the ability to manage full control and decision making at however granular of a level you need. Omatic's support is solid, and their knowledgebase is really helpful. **What do you dislike about Omatic Software?** Omatic is a third-party software provider, so sometimes if there are issues or updates on the Blackbaud side it can cause issues with Omatic. That said, Omatic's relationship with Blackbaud is pretty strong and these products do work really well together. **Recommendations to others considering Omatic Software:** If you're looking for an import tool for Raiser's Edge, there is no competition. ImportOmatic is by far the best and most flexible. I have used it for over 10 years, and I will not work in a Raiser's Edge database without it. It is the first thing I acquire at a new organization if they don't already have it. **What problems is Omatic Software solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use ImportOmatic on a daily basis to import data from our direct mail program. We also use it for cleanup projects on a regular basis. This is by far the most flexible importing tool on the market and we couldn't manage our direct mail program without it. ### 6. I am yet to find a problem the business throws at me I can't solve with it. **What do you dislike about Omatic Software?** The only downside I have found is that when I try to load in new records with a single letter as the first or last name, it fails because it finds too many possible matches. We use it for membership processing and can upload membership in a fraction of the time it takes to enter them manually. I also like how we can customize each profile eaisly when we need to import new or different information. The help team has been wonderful at troubleshooting any issues I've encountered. I've also been able to find some great info on your forums. **What do you dislike about Omatic Software?** As someone who came into an organization that already had Omatic set up, I missed all of the initial training sessions. Omatic was especially hard for me to understand at first because I was being trained second-hand by my coworkers, who did not have as much knowledge of Omatic as their staff would have. Because of the lack of training, it took me a lot longer to get the hang of Omatic. I wish Import Omatic had more readily available affordable or free continuous training programs. I would love to learn more about everything it can do. **What problems is Omatic Software solving and how is that benefiting you?** Time management is the biggest benifit. Right now we just use Import Omatic to import our online memberhsip sales. It would take a lot more staff time to enter all those manually, espically during the busy holiday season. ### 12. It can be fairly time-consuming to set up new import profiles, and I wish I could save more default configurations for new profiles. Those are minor inconveniences that don't detract from the software much. **What problems is Omatic Software solving and how is that benefiting you?** Import Omatic is everything that is missing from the inherent import tool in The Raiser's Edge. I especially appreciate that it does not require complicated headers that match preset configurations in Raiser's Edge. ### 14. IOM is intuitive to use with a bit of a learning curve. You will need to take a class or do some self-study by reading the manual. But once you are past that, you can import data quickly into RE/NXT. Features such as the dictionary and virtual fields will help you transform and manipulate data, thus saving time and make sure the data is correct. **What do you dislike about Omatic Software?** As I mentioned, IOM does require you to take time to learn the software. I wish the order for the Dictionary will stay in alphabetical order instead of me clicking on the name field every time. I wish Profiles had folders so I can group them together and in a specific order. Either that or provide me longer Profile Names. I also noticed there are bugs in Virtual Fields. When you delete a row, it will occasionally delete the configuration for Dictionary and Function for virtual fields below it. **Recommendations to others considering Omatic Software:** This is a must-have tool if you are planning to import data to Blackbaud's RE/NXT. **What problems is Omatic Software solving and how is that benefiting you?** IOM is helping solve the inconsistent data coming from various sources. By using the dictionary, I'm able to make sure the data is correct and consistent before when importing them to RE/NXT. I am also using Regular Expressions for advanced manipulation of data via the dictionary. I wish there was a better way of doing this, but I use what I have. ### 15. If it does, I have yet to figure it out and, unfortunately, this is a HUGE part of my importing process that turns into a manual process. **Recommendations to others considering Omatic Software:** If you are continuously adding large amounts of data to your CRM, this is the ideal application to use for this purpose. **What problems is Omatic Software solving and how is that benefiting you?** importing in scholarship recipients as well as massively importing graduating classes and just being able to import large amounts of data at once. ### 16. Also, building data dictionaries might require a new layer of expertise with coding or some other technical language. **What problems is Omatic Software solving and how is that benefiting you?** Consistency, we used the native RELO connector to integrate RE and LO, but the connector couldn't hold traffic for large sets of data and the mapping fields were standard. Omatic allows us to map pretty much every available field from Luminate or other spreadsheet or data files which gives us a better processing time, flexibility, and accurabilty. ### 17. Lots of these functionalities are coming directly to Raiser's Edge without the need for a third party, but Omatic software was leading edge on making some really key things be functional ahead of Blackbaud. **What do you dislike about Omatic Software?** Dislike that they just discontinued one of our favorite products without much notice and now we are kind of left in a lurch. Seems to be shifting to more cloud based integration applications vs. RE database. **What problems is Omatic Software solving and how is that benefiting you?** It completely changed the way we managed events within Raiser's Edge. It also affects how we import data with Importomatic. Benefits realized have been better organization and more efficient use of our team's time. ### 21. It was fairly easy to use. However, I was hoping they would come back and follow up with additional full training or support to complete what would have been a general onboarding timeline. **What problems is Omatic Software solving and how is that benefiting you?** We were transferring data from one CRM to another. Omatic software made it easier to transfer data into our main database specifically for fundraisers and events. Normally we'd use this feature throughout the year and it just made it so much easier.
