It's great for any business wanting unique features and flows, as they can be easily created with Odoo. Using existing modules or third-party modules helps cut down on customization time and cost. After using it for a while, my team started to love it, and we appreciate being able to have new features whenever we want. The system keeps growing and adapting as our business grows. **What do you dislike about Odoo MRP?** For a large database, using ORM methods does not work as expected. Also, taking backups from the Odoo default way does not work properly on large databases. In version 14 the sales app was updated to allow for configurable items. The MRP system generates the work order according to the rules in the BoM and the customer's selections for a given product. **What do you dislike about Odoo MRP?** In version 13 it is sometimes difficult to establish prioritization of materials that you have more than one demand that combined exceeds the on-hand availability, but they have fixed this in version 14. Also in version 13 the sales app was not as easy to use with configurable product, but they have fixed that in version 14 also. **Recommendations to others considering Odoo MRP:** If you are doing a large-scale migration, definitely purchase the large success pack. In about a year, we wen through 100 hours of support with our single point of contact (SPoC) and it was worth every penny. **What problems is Odoo MRP solving and how is that benefiting you?** We have a mixed manufacturing environment. When we do manufacturing, we have to know what to use, in what quantities, as well as assembly instructions. Combined with the Odoo Studio app, all of this was simple to handle. ### 4. The ability to keep up with serial numbers or lots. Reservation of inventory to all of the products on the line items. Being able to link inventory items to the breakdown of components. **What do you dislike about Odoo MRP?** Cannot do multiple serial numbered items in a range. i.e SN 0001 through 0100. You have to do them one by one to assign serial numbers correctly. Would like to have the ability to import a serial number range, or enter a serial number range and assign all the serialized items/lots to the manufactured products. Also would like to be able to keep track of lot numbers and export a breakdown of what items are in a certain lot number or manufacture date range. **Recommendations to others considering Odoo MRP:** Do the trial and check it out for your business need, we have found it helpful and ideal for our industry. The module breakdown does make it easy to add or remove modules that are not used. **What problems is Odoo MRP solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are able to keep up with all of our in house manufacturing processes as well as the breakdown of where things are in the router. The system automatically showcases the forecasted stock to be produced & gives a feature to maintain safety stock in your warehouse. On top of that, the Manager has an upper hand to add up the quantities to be produced considering the Market trend & any upcoming event. This allows for per-product flexibility and can adjust to business needs very well. The manufacturing app allows for complex bill of materials as well as nested bill of materials. Compared to other manufacturing applications, Odoo excels at providing a solution to complex situations as a very reasonable price. Odoo also allows for customizations, which other software doesn't. Because it's open source, there is a ton of resources out there that instruct how to customize as needed. **What do you dislike about Odoo MRP?** Lots of configuration is needed, but I'm not sure if that is avoidable due to the complexities of manufacturing in general. It takes a lot of time and effort to get the products and manufacturing steps created but once you have your configurations set and properly tested, then the workflow is fairly seemles. **Recommendations to others considering Odoo MRP:** The manufacturing application is a lot to understand and configure, especially if using serial number tracking. It's suggested to look into a consultant firm if your manufacturing needs are complex. **What problems is Odoo MRP solving and how is that benefiting you?** The ability to have complex and nested Bill of Materials (BOMs) allows a great solution to a difficult problem. Able to use Make to Order, Make to Stock, Bill of Materials, Ship as a kit (consumable products), etc **What do you dislike about Odoo MRP?** A little confusing to someone not used to using a manufacturing program, the terms and functions are not 100% user friendly, but once you understand the process it is fairly simple. **Recommendations to others considering Odoo MRP:** This program, while it may seem a little clunky at first, is very powerful and user friendly. All data is open and accessible. Once you get the hang of odoo and its user interface, the program is very powerful. **What problems is Odoo MRP solving and how is that benefiting you?** A large number of our products are sold with an additional item (rarely sold without) but are purchased separately. Odoo's MRP module allows us to not 'manufacture' these items, but rather ship the two items together in a 'kit' with a bill of materials for the two items together, taken out of our inventory at the time of sale. It also allows for easy 'traditional' manufacturing process where you use raw materials to make a finishing product, has options to scrap material, or create more than planned out of the same material, etc. ### 8. Being able to set things up in advance and see how it is effecting the overall inventory is really helpful. **What do you dislike about Odoo MRP?** The only downside I've experienced is some inflexibility when the results of a manufacturing job are more or less than expected. Updating the quantity produced from an MO then alters the materials used, which may not be necessary. **Recommendations to others considering Odoo MRP:** Allow for more flexibility in MO's when results are more or less than expected but the components don't need to be adjusted. **What problems is Odoo MRP solving and how is that benefiting you?** Primarily I'm able to better manage the consumption of inventory materials through MO's, minimizing the need for inventory adjustments. ### 10. BOMs are easy to understand. Does not require you to create/follow process steps **What do you dislike about Odoo MRP?** When the system creates jobs it does not take into account routes. Odoo uses routes to allow you to create paths through your company for individual or groups of items. For us that means that some items are inspected and some are not. When the system creates a job it does not take into account the routes for the item. So, to get routes into the job you have to cancel and recreate. One should not confuse routes with workcenters and flow of a job, they are two different things. A route is the path through the company, think receiving, then inspection, then put away. Jobs can have workcenters and if the job is set up to use them it will always follow that path regardless of whether the system created the job or it was manually created. **Recommendations to others considering Odoo MRP:** Odoo is by far the best ERP I have seen/used in my 25 year experience. Work with a third-party to implement and support though. We used Odoo professional services to start and they don't get it. We would call the support line and they would tell us they don't support custom code, and I would tell them that they wrote it. Then the line would go dead, as they were perplexed. Oh, and support is HQ'd from Europe. That means all support calls take at least a day to get a reply. I tried to explain this to them, but if fell on deaf ears, so we transitioned to a third-party and are now happy. If anyone at Odoo ever wants to talk to me about this, I am available....They won't do it. **What problems is Odoo MRP solving and how is that benefiting you?** Jobs are easy to create on the fly and costing is automatic (we have Odoo Accounting as well). In our old system we would have to do cost roll-ups on every job. Teaching the team on the floor how to do this correctly and consistently was difficult. ### 11. Every other solution looks like windows 95 and has a steep learning curve. This is very easy to implement and teach. **What do you dislike about Odoo MRP?** Literally nothing. Multiple BOMs per product. Robust IF you take the time to really get to know it. Works great if you take part A and add it to part B, not so great if quantities can vary. **What do you dislike about Odoo MRP?** Larger learning curve than other Odoo apps. Little flexibility once inside the manufacturing process. For example, think baking a cake: Sometimes the number of cakes is dependent on available ingredients. If I don't have 5 lbs of flour, I can't make my normal amount of cupcakes, but I could make a smaller number. Odoo Manufacturing doesn't allow for that flexibility natively. It can be overridden, but it takes time and effort. The finished amount is also not flexible. For example, back to the cakes: one tray of cupcakes burns. Odoo manufacturing doesn't take kindly to having a different finished quantity. It does allow for you to unbuild or scrap, but you have to do the math about how much of each ingredient needs to be scraped. **Recommendations to others considering Odoo MRP:** Get the trial. When it runs out, ask them to renew it for you. Test everything. Ask an actual user to test it with you. It seems easy when you do your first product. We actually expanded our use of kits to better sell our more obscure products that require the context of the other products in a kit. **What do you dislike about Odoo MRP?** Unfortunately, there is no simple out-of-the-box way to total up the total weight of a kit. It also track the valuation of cost price of new product with respect to the bill of material. Also it include drawing of a product if product is belongs to some physical structure. **What do you dislike about Odoo MRP?** Here if you want to set marginal cost with your production total cost in respect to bill of material amount then you can not do this stuff. Bill of Material (BOM) functionality in this module is at it's best which includes all the row products and make valuation on the basis of inventory fill up. **What do you dislike about Odoo MRP?** In this module the big disadvantage I have faced is 3 way picking is not supporting. For my business, I need 3 step picking which includes pick-pack-ship procedure. But this functionality is not there in odoo MRP. **Recommendations to others considering Odoo MRP:** If you are managing 1 step verification for picking in your business so this product is useful in the term of maintaining your manufacturing unit. It also supports variants and also track the wastage which is generated at the time of creating finish goods. **What problems is Odoo MRP solving and how is that benefiting you?** Using this module I can able to manage valuation from BOM very well but at the moment when I need 3 step picking verification than I can not able to process and re-evaluate my inventory stock. It also helps you to create invoice from it. **What do you dislike about Odoo MRP?** In earlier version of odoo there are some of the bugs like if a fresh system is there and product is just been created then at the time creating manufacturing order valuation of that order is remain zero not to the cost of that product.
