Who is Octopus Deploy pricing best suited for?

Octopus Deploy's pricing is best suited for mid-market and enterprise engineering teams managing deployments across multiple environments, platforms, and tenants at scale. G2 reviewers from information technology, computer software, financial services, and insurance industries dominate the review base, reflecting strong adoption in compliance-sensitive and infrastructure-heavy sectors. The free tier fits small teams or individual developers evaluating the tool with minimal project counts. The Professional tier aligns with growing teams under 100 projects needing structured onboarding and business-hours support. The Enterprise tier targets large organizations requiring 24/7 support, SIEM integration, ITSM workflows, and a dedicated customer success manager. G2 reviews of Octopus Deploy consistently flag cost as a barrier specifically for small businesses and non-profits.

What are the key differences between the free and paid versions of Octopus Deploy?

Octopus Deploy's free tier caps usage at 10 projects, 10 tenants, 10 machines, 10 users, and 1 space, making it viable only for small-scale evaluation or minimal workloads. Octopus Deploy's paid plans remove all those caps, offering unlimited users and spaces. The Professional tier adds expert-guided onboarding and weekday business-hours support, while the Enterprise tier layers on 24/7 support, DevOps Insights, SIEM audit log streaming, ITSM integration, a customer success manager, and custom billing. G2 reviewers note that scaling beyond a handful of projects or machines quickly necessitates a paid plan, and several flag that advanced compliance and audit features critical for regulated industries are exclusively Enterprise-tier.

Is Octopus Deploy considered good value for its pricing?

G2 reviewers broadly consider Octopus Deploy a premium but justified investment, with the majority of ratings falling between 4.0 and 5.0. Multiple reviewers across small business and mid-market segments acknowledge the cost is high yet concede the time savings and deployment reliability offset the expense. G2 reviews of Octopus Deploy's pricing flag two recurring concerns: recent shifts to advance payment models and per-deployment-target licensing that inflates costs at scale. Reviewers from enterprise segments and not-for-profit organizations specifically cite the removal of free or discounted tiers as a pain point. The consensus is that Octopus Deploy's pricing delivers strong value for teams with complex, multi-environment pipelines but strains budgets for small teams or cost-sensitive organizations.

"Octopus is a well thought out and comprehensive deployment orchestration tool"
5/5
What do you like best about Octopus Deploy?

I have been using Octopus for over 10 years and it has always been super easy to install, maintain and use. It is a comprehensive tool for deployment orchestration which makes your software deployments reliable and repeatable. It has a rich feature set, yet it has been so well designed that it is rarely confusing to set up deployment pipelines. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Octopus Deploy?

Octopus used to provide not for profit organisations with a free licence. However that is no longer the case. This is a fairly common trend at the moment, where after lock in for years, a company starts charging making it difficult to do anything else but pay. I understand this economy means businesses need more and more revenue, though I'm not a fan of the way it is dealt with, particularly for not-for-profit organisations.
