It's hard to sum up all that is good about OBS (Open Broadcast Software) - there are other (paid) solutions that might look a little fancier or are a little more streamlined. However, if what you need is a good, workable solution to get broadcasting, OBS is the place to start. And for many of us, it's a fine place to stay - very little reason to "upgrade" to a paid broadcasting solution. What I use OBS most for is integrating with Facebook "go-live" function. Easily enter stream ket and go live in a few clicks. Audio meter right there, middle of the screen to make sure levels are good. I've run on quite a few computers, and it will run on modest equipment. I've even had good luck teaching it to other, non-technical people with a high success rate. The built-in recorder is also helpful for making backups of streamed events. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about OBS Studio? It's hard to complain about Open Source (free) software. Yet, if I had to find something, the included font size is a little small, especially in the menus. As eyes are getting older, sometimes I wish they included an option for a larger font size. There are a few places where windows could be a bit more refined (like rounded corners, etc). But the esthetics aren't bad. There is a plug in to control PTZ cameras but it would be nice if it was natively a part of the program (wishes). Still, it's hard to fault open source software like this that works so well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. Recommendations to others considering OBS Studio: It is a great place to start your broadcasting / recording of live stream needs. You could do a whole lot worse. No need to go for a paid solution. OBS solved the requirement of broadcasting software to take input from multiple PTZ cameras to a live streaming source over social media (e.g. Facebook). It is an approachable software that even a novice can run with a few minutes of orientation, which is helpful for an organization that relies on volunteers for the majority of our positions.
