I love to use Node-RED frequently to make POC in a straightforward way because you don't need to code anything, its so easy to implement with other services, the simply graphical drag and drop feature allows to connect blocks of functions without write one line of code, so you can make an entire workflow in few steps and few minutes. The graphical approach will limits the option to add code, in certain blocks you can add javascript scripts but you always became limited by the blocks itself, so you need to be careful to maintain the Node-Red architecture once you try to export the design to its code equivalent. Simple and effective business process software. You can check the process at any time. I can't imagine another system to implement the connection of two systems and exchange of data between them. One thing that's difficult to work around is the global / flow variable, especially when multiple messages are coming into the flow with less gap between them. You can always use the delay node at the start of the flow to ensure the completion of the flow before the flow variable gets overwritten.
