Nexis for Development Professionals Reviews & Product Details

LNDP is the tool we use from beginning to end in our prospect research and management. Whether its contact information or potential relatives, business information, due diligence, charitable and political giving to corporation information - whether in the U.S., Canada or internationally - LNDP is our go to. There are some issues at times with incorrect birthdates or old email addresses. It would be helpful if these items can be verified - especially phone numbers and emails that at least if they are still active. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I regularly turn to the Comprehensive Person Report to obtain real estate information, birthdates (age), and family members. I also use the Company section to discover a company's annual revenue and number of employees, as well as news stories that supply information about mergers & acquisitions, or particular news about staff members.

The Individual report occasionally provides information that I haven't found elsewhere about a person's donations. Finally, I sometime use Nexis Dossier to confirm company information, and I've used it for years - before I had access to the rest of the Nexis products - to get company employees' email addresses.

I find the real estate information sometimes hard to decipher. I have no idea what to make of the Automated Valuation Report. To be honest, I don't always understand the other real estate reports, especially if there's no deed or transaction history.

I also get a little frustrated when the information about possible relatives, though I doubt you can do much about that. What you *could* possibly do is provide a way for the user to contact you when we can confirm that your information is wrong. inaccuracies happen most often with gender, but also with the type of relationship (wife, father, etc.). One other, similar problem: Sometime the same person has multiple listings - same person, but more than one lexID or different biographical details. When this occurs, I have to take the time to check the other listing(s) against the first and against the biographical info I've already gathered. It's a little confusing at times. I have been using Lexis Nexis for Development Professionals for many years, and it has become a very helpful tool in my prospect research workflow. One of the biggest perks is how much background it gives on a person—things like address history, phone numbers, court cases (when available), and negative news. That kind of info can be a game-changer when you're trying to do thorough due diligence to make sure a potential donor doesn’t pose a reputational risk for your organization.

What I also find really useful is the way it shows connections to relatives and associates. It has helped me to identify new prospects just by exploring family ties or business partners of someone we’re already engaging with. It’s not just about wealth data—it gives you a broader picture of someone’s network, which can open up more opportunities for outreach. The downside involves the accuracy of the information. It is a good source to start off with, but it's also a good idea to cross verify elsewhere to make sure that what you have is in fact accurate data for the person you're researching. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

There is a LOT of information in Lexis Nexis and it can be overwhelming and not really know all the features. More focus from the L/N team on "did you know about this feature?" or even getting to know more about what we do in our organization's office, what we are trying to achieve in our research, checking out our products and then saying "ok, L/N can fill in those blanks." Since I need to assist my colleagues in locating relatives of the deceased for planned giving, this comprehensive profile is extremely helpful as it lists potential relatives. It's not always perfect, but what is? It's much better than having nothing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

NDP aggregates data from every vital area I need for my work and brings it together in a way that is easy to use. They are continually working to improve the product. If you provide feedback about current features or things that would make the product better, those ideas go straight to decision makers. You can't buy that kind of customer support. Our team adores Nexis. The information is so detailed and accurate, making cross-referencing and overall due diligence easy. We love the numerous functionalities for looking into businesses and individuals. Dossier and the marriage/divorce records tools are some of the most helpful when it comes to our day-to-day research. Clear and concise layout, reliability on government documents, leaves room for interpretation by the researcher/analyst rather than oversimplifying/short-cutting the way other Development products often do. Fairly difficult to track down properties held in family trusts and family LLCs. I don't think Nexis does a good enough job of providing tutorial/demo materials to help train new researchers/analysts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Lexis Nexis is the first place I go when doing my research. I love the address and employer information as well as the potential relatives. Also being able to search for someone by including a relative's name is a great feature! The company's reputation also gives me peace of mind that my findings are correct. I wish the business search and news search could be narrowed down to EXACTLY what you type. It would be nice to still have it pull similar results but I would like the option to search for only results containing exactly what I'm searching for. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
