AAD identity is easy to set up and you can manage it via the Azure Portal or write scripts to automate tasks. The cost can be a little high if you are managing a very large user base. That said, the alternatives are not cheaper so I guess it is just the price we need to pay. We needed a centralized way to manage our user identies and protect them. We did not want to set up special hardware for this so azure AD was a very good fit for us.
