"MDCA - one of the best cloudapp security out there"
What do you like best about Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps?

It is easy to start with if you have DFE in place. It acts as a source and helps in initial cloud discovery/ shadow IT.

It's a vibrant pearl in the "String of pearls," i.e., Defender Suite.

The seamless integration with AAD, DFE, and Purview makes it much more powerful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps?

Syncing of the groups from AAD is not instant. It takes a painfully long time. This affects the application of policies to desired users in a group. This may effect real-time automation that involves the dynamic addition of users in AAD groups. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"This native CASB is an awesome Security product"
What do you like best about Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps?

Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps (MDA) is a native Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB). It protects the M365 apps like Microsoft Teams and SharePoint. It can also be used for third-party apps too. Think about real-life scenarios such as mass downloading files or sharing a particular file with someone using a competitor domain - MDA protects against situations like this by applying policies. It also helps to uncover apps users use on their devices by combining it with Defender for Endpoint. Now with line-of-sight, control can be taken of apps and reducing shadow IT. Some of the things that I really like about MDA are that it takes less than 5 minutes to set up a connector to Microsoft 365. It has also recently converged with the Microsoft 365 Defender Portal, so you can now access it alongside Defender for Endpoint, Defender for Identity and the alerts and incidents queues. In addition, it is straightforward to start applying policies because Microsoft has many policy templates to hand. My advice? Start with a few policies and users in a proof of concept and scale up. When you have experience, you can look to roll out some really cool features like automatically applying sensitivity labels to downloaded files, conditional access app control and app governance. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps?

I was not too fond of the separate portal when the product was Cloud App Security, as it felt disconnected from the rest of the stack. But having undergone panel convergence, you can now seamlessly move between the stack products. I look forward to this continuing to evolve - with more great features like continuous access evaluation coming soon. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

One of the critical strengths of Microsoft Defender is its integration with Windows, which allows it to run smoothly in the background without causing any noticeable impact on system performance. It also comes with various advanced features, such as real-time protection, cloud-based protection, and automatic updates, to protect users against the latest threats.

Another notable aspect of Microsoft Defender is its ease of use. It comes pre-installed on all Windows 10 devices, which means users don't have to worry about downloading and installing any third-party antivirus software. The user interface is simple and easy to navigate, making it a great choice for users who are not tech-savvy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps?

Limited support for third-party cloud apps.

Need Azure AD for integration.

Setting up Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps requires a degree of technical expertise and can be challenging for users who are not familiar with cloud security tools. The tool can require significant configuration, including setting up policies, configuring data loss prevention rules, and enabling integrations with other security tools.
