Maxwell is used in our architecture office as the base rendering engine for all of our in-house renderings. It is relatively easy to set up an acceptable-quality render and the range of materials readily available from their library is pretty solid. The Fire capability is really useful for setting up views and testing and reworking the settings of the render. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It isn't used by professional rendering firms for a reason - it's very slow, and the quality you get out of it may be realistic but it lacks the ability to provide mood or a more artistic sheen to the renders. Great for providing informative images on how a material might look in the real world, not so great for trying to really sell a concept. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
