I use MathType to create instructional materials for my high school math classes. I appreciate that it allows me to convert existing MS Word documents to Google Docs and create professional-looking documents with accurate mathematical notation. I really like the extensive palette of math notation and symbols because I have access to all of the symbols I need for the high school math classes I teach. Also, the initial setup of MathType was easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I don't like the look of "tall" equations/expressions in Google Docs. Adding a 1/2 in front of a variable makes the whole expression taller and it is no longer inserted "in line." I've also noticed this with integrals. When I want to include these types of expressions in a numbered list, the numbers no longer align with the center of the MathType item.
