"Great for Math Instruction, Needs Better Google Docs Integration"

What do you like best about MathType?

I use MathType to create instructional materials for my high school math classes. I appreciate that it allows me to convert existing MS Word documents to Google Docs and create professional-looking documents with accurate mathematical notation. I really like the extensive palette of math notation and symbols because I have access to all of the symbols I need for the high school math classes I teach. What do you dislike about MathType?

I don't like the look of "tall" equations/expressions in Google Docs. Adding a 1/2 in front of a variable makes the whole expression taller and it is no longer inserted "in line." I've also noticed this with integrals. When I want to include these types of expressions in a numbered list, the numbers no longer align with the center of the MathType item. What do you like best about MathType?

I use MathType constantly when I am making activities for my students. It is great for worksheets, guided notes, and other classroom activities and lessons. The most convenient feature is being able to copy and paste math equations and save them as images. I use this to put together review games, warm-up activities and quizzes in my classroom. It has all the symbols I need for my lessons. I love that you can also change the size and font color, which makes it easier for me to customize lessons and materials. What do you dislike about MathType?

Most of the time Math Type fits all my needs, although I do wish that I could add a space easily. Sometimes I want multiple equations side by side but spaced out, or I want to add text right away. What do you like best about MathType?

Mathtype made everything easy. I am an engineer and I work with mathematical equations a lot. With Mathtype, I easily write formulas in Word and then when I want to write a report or paper in Latex, I can easily convert it to the other types that I need. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Good to use once you get used to it"

Makes life easy and fast. Coming from primarily using word, this was a stressbuster and I wish I found out about it earlier. Especially for things like formatting, this is amazing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

formatting for things like matrices and other complex issues can be difficult. Or more time consuming but this is the best option there is so it is pretty good. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It takes some time to get used to but stick with it. I also think some sort of thing so that you dont have to constantly transfer back and forth bteween word and mathtype would be better. I believe latex has that ability but it is much more difficult to get used to so if this was integrated into word/pages, it would be much better and more user friendly.
