## Lunacy Reviews
  ### 1. Makes Healthcare Design Simple, Clean, and Professional

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ishan S. | Manager and Dietician at Chaitanya Homoeo Clinic, Medical Store Owner, Content Creator, Hospital & Health Care, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 07, 2026

**What do you like best about Lunacy?**

I work as a Dietician and Nutritionist, manage a homeopathy clinic, and also create health education content, so I need design work regularly for patient guidance visuals, wellness graphics, educational posts, thumbnails, transformation layouts and daily content designs. What I like best about Lunacy is that it makes designing work feel simple and less confusing. Ease of use is good because after little practice I was able to create clean graphics, health awareness visuals and client progress designs without needing too much technical editing knowledge.

the features I use most are vector editing, icons, illustrations and text tools because they help me make healthcare content look more organized and professional. Background remove and image editing tools are also useful while preparing educational visuals and progress related designs. I also like that importing images and design assets is easy, so ease of integration feels smooth during daily work. Ease of implementation was comfortable because I started using it in my real work very quickly. I now use it frequently for clinic content, educational graphics and visual content creation work. Number of features feels practical for daily designing needs.

**What do you dislike about Lunacy?**

sometimes when a design file becomes little heavy with many images, vectors and layers, the performance can slow down slightly. During editing bigger health education graphics or detailed content layouts, I noticed small lag while moving elements or switching between sections. I also feel that some tools and settings are not very easy to find in the beginning, specially for users who are not from professional design background. Sometimes while adjusting text or layers, i need few extra clicks to find the exact option.

**What problems is Lunacy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Its helping me solve the problem of creating health related designs and educational visuals without using very complicated design software. Earlier, making clinic graphics, patient awareness posts, thumbnails and progress related visuals used to take more time and effort, specially when I needed quick designs during busy work.

now I use Lunacy for creating wellness graphics, educational content layouts, diet related visuals and client progress designs in one place. Features like vector editing, icons, illustrations, text tools and background remove help me prepare clean and more professional looking content much faster. It also helps me organize visual information better while creating patient education and awareness content. overall it saves time, improves presentation quality and makes my daily clinic and content creation work more smooth and manageable.

  ### 2. Fast, Lightweight Offline UI Design with Great Built-In Assets

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rutvik D. | UX Designer, Design, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 04, 2026

**What do you like best about Lunacy?**

What I like most about Lunacy is how lightweight and fast it is compared to other design tools. It runs smoothly even on lower-end systems, which makes it very efficient for day-to-day UI/UX work.

One of the biggest advantages is that it works offline. I can design without worrying about internet connectivity, which is especially useful when working on the go or in unstable network conditions.

Lunacy also comes with built-in assets like icons, illustrations, and photos, which saves time searching externally. The drag-and-drop workflow and familiar interface (similar to Figma/Sketch) make it easy to pick up and start designing quickly.

From a pricing perspective, it offers strong value since many features are available for free, making it a great option for individual designers and small teams.

Lunacy also offers decent integration capabilities, especially with design workflows that involve Sketch files and common export formats, making it easier to collaborate or transition between tools.

Onboarding is straightforward due to its familiar interface and minimal setup requirements. Even new users can start designing quickly without a steep learning curve, and the built-in resources further reduce dependency on external tools.

It also includes basic AI features such as background removal, image upscaling, and avatar generation, which are useful for speeding up simple tasks. While these features are not very advanced, they add convenience to the overall workflow.

Overall, Lunacy is a fast, accessible, and cost-effective tool for UI design, especially when you need a reliable offline alternative.

**What do you dislike about Lunacy?**

What I dislike about Lunacy is that, even though it’s fast and lightweight, it still doesn’t have the depth or overall polish of more mature design tools. Some advanced features needed for complex design workflows feel limited or not as refined as they could be.

From a UI/UX standpoint, certain interactions and keyboard shortcuts aren’t always intuitive or consistent. That can slow down experienced users, especially those coming from tools like Figma or Adobe products.

When it comes to integrations, Lunacy feels somewhat restricted. It doesn’t connect as deeply with other tools or collaboration ecosystems, which can add friction when working in team environments.

Performance is generally solid, but occasional bugs or unexpected behavior can interrupt the workflow, particularly when dealing with more complex files.

On the support and onboarding side, it’s easy to get started, but the guidance and advanced documentation aren’t always detailed enough to help with edge-case problems.

The AI features are handy for basic tasks like background removal or image enhancement, but they still feel fairly basic and not tightly integrated into the broader design workflow.

Overall, Lunacy is a strong lightweight tool, but it still needs improvements in advanced capabilities, integrations, and ecosystem support to compete at a higher level.

**What problems is Lunacy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before I started using Lunacy, UI design often meant relying on heavier tools that demanded strong system performance and constant internet access. That combination regularly slowed my workflow, especially on lower-end devices or when the network was unstable.

With Lunacy, I can design smoothly even on less powerful systems. It removes those performance bottlenecks and lets me focus on the actual design work instead of fighting tool limitations. The offline capability is a major advantage too, because it allows me to keep working without interruptions.

The built-in assets icons, illustrations, and photos also cut down on the need to switch between tools or search for resources elsewhere, which saves time during the design process.

As a result, my workflow feels faster and more flexible. I’ve been able to reduce setup and asset-gathering time by around 20-30% while still maintaining consistency in my UI design work.

Overall, Lunacy addresses the dependency on heavy tools and internet connectivity, making the design process more efficient and accessible.

  ### 3. Feature-Rich, Familiar UI/UX Design Tool with Great Built-In Assets and Offline Mode

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Oil & Energy | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 09, 2026

**What do you like best about Lunacy?**

The best thing I like about this Lunacy platform UI/UX is very complete and provides a graphic design experience without the cost associated with many competing design tools. There built in library of icons, Registration photos save a significant amount of time, we don't need to switch between multiple applications or asset websites. I also like their offline functionality, which allows us to continue working even when Internet connectivity is limited. Their interface feels familiar to anyone who has used similar software like Figma or Sketch, it makes her own boarding very much easier. The air power tools, such as background removal and image enhancement, are very useful for day-to-day design tasks.

**What do you dislike about Lunacy?**

This platform offers a strong feature set, but some advanced collaboration design system capabilities are not as matured other larger platforms out there. Also, occasionally, importing complex design files may need some minor adjustments, and 3rd party integrations are more limited when compared to industry-leading alternatives. The larger enterprise teams may also find that their existing workflows are more deeply integrated with other design ecosystems.

**What problems is Lunacy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This platform helps us by centralising the design workflow from combining design tools, asset libraries, and AI utilities into a single platform. Rather than searching externally for icons, Illustrations or stock images, I can access them directly within the application. Their offline capabilities also eliminate dependency on cloud access for our day-to-day work. Overall, this has improved our productivity, reduced context switching, and accelerated design iterations for our marketing-related projects.

  ### 4. Once a Strong Canva Alternative, Now Hampered by Limited Assets

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alejandro R. | Product Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 10, 2025

**What do you like best about Lunacy?**

I think it used to be a great competitor to Canva because it had more original assets overall.

**What do you dislike about Lunacy?**

Now it's basically not loading any assets, it's really limited and feels like it's an abandoned product.

**What problems is Lunacy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It used to be a great Canva competitor because the assets used to be way more original and your designs tended to be way more original than Canva's because of the amazing assets they provided you.

  ### 5. Working faster and designing better thanks to Lunacy.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 04, 2025

**What do you like best about Lunacy?**

Lunacy is stable and multi–OS compatible so I can continue projects no matter what device I have at hand; it has a well–designed interface that allows easy access to the tools I use most. It integrates AI tools that I use to remove backgrounds with a click, generate text and execute smart snippets; it also has offline functionality to keep working smoothly.

**What do you dislike about Lunacy?**

I had one issue that was fixed with an update, when I used to handle large files Lunacy would sometimes freeze but after the update everything worked perfectly.

**What problems is Lunacy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've used Lunacy particularly for designing handouts, presentations and classroom resources so I've improved the quality of my communication. It's a versatile tool, capable of handling different file formats which makes–it easy to export my projects.

  ### 6. My favorite design tool

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pedro U. | Freelance , Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 11, 2023

**What do you like best about Lunacy?**

I love that it is an offline tool and works very fast and efficiently compared to similar tools. Additionally, it also allows synchronization and working with files in the cloud. One of the advantages I also value is its icon library and its AI background removal tool.

**What do you dislike about Lunacy?**

I find few disadvantages to Lunacy, although it would be great if the prototyping section incorporated new features to improve prototypes, especially in terms of animations and interactions.

**What problems is Lunacy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I design web pages, mobile applications, and also publications for social networks like Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook. With Lunacy, I have improved my delivery times since its workflow is very efficient for my daily work.

  ### 8. Great design tool from icon8

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hasan H. | Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 29, 2022

**What do you like best about Lunacy?**

I am a huge fan of icon8. I've created many apps using that website. I can say that I am using Lunacy from the beta version. It is like Figma but I can edit images easier and sharing projects is much easier. The tool has almost no limits.

**What do you dislike about Lunacy?**

I would like to have more extensions like in Figma. Lunacy already has background remover, image, and text generator, but as I said I want more public extension. I want to create videos from my designs.

**What problems is Lunacy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

First I started to use it for my UI/UX design job. Then I started to create posters and ads for my family job. Actually, It is easier than ever. Almost better than canva if we have templates.

  ### 9. Lunacy is a great alternative to Figma.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 24, 2023

**What do you like best about Lunacy?**

I love that Lunacy is very similar to other design tools so it is easy to get into and has a clean UI

**What do you dislike about Lunacy?**

The price compared to its competitors which offer similar products.

**What problems is Lunacy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I like to have a grip of many design tools. Especially as a designer, all clients are different and use different products and Lunacy happen to be one of them.

  ### 10. A good tool to manage Sketch files on a PC

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 25, 2021

**What do you like best about Lunacy?**

It is an amazing free tool that I use when I have to open sketch files on a PC. Maybe it is not the best UX prototyping tool in the marketplace but it is free that may be very useful for urgency or if your Mac is broken.

**What do you dislike about Lunacy?**

It is hard to say something negative for a tool that is is free but if it will be better if it could have all the characteristics that the Sketch app has...but maybe then it has to be named Sketch for PC. It has to improve the symbols panel and some other Sketch characteristics to be totally compatible with Sketch files.

**Recommendations to others considering Lunacy:**

It is free, what more do you want?

**What problems is Lunacy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use for opening Sketch files on a PC and I am able to work with those files without almost any issue. It is versatile, fast, intuitive...if you have already used Sketch, of course.

  ### 11. Lunacy - the best free software for sketching

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joshua F. | Head of Sales and Marketing, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

Navigating the interface is very easy
Drawing complex shapes is a walk in the park
Exporting objects individually or in groups is straightforward
The ability to export in a variety of file types (for free) is awesome
Integration with icons8 makes prototyping a breeze

**What do you dislike about Lunacy?**

The constant logging out of the account can get annoying

**What problems is Lunacy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sketching up floor plan layouts for customers
Outlining key spots to keep an eye on for our install teams
Drawing to-scale layouts to give an idea of how big our products will be for customers
The ability to export images for use on socials and web etc. is straightforward

  ### 12. Good sub for Sketch on PC

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 24, 2021

**What do you like best about Lunacy?**

I like how it has built in UI kits and wireframing tools for quick prototyping

**What do you dislike about Lunacy?**

Sometimes fonts will disappear when you import a file from Sketch. It will say the correct font but display in a stock sans serif

**What problems is Lunacy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have a PC and needed a program able to open Sketch files as my coworker uses Sketch

  ### 13. Easy to use app, Best alternative for Sketch

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Siddharth G. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 10, 2020

**What do you like best about Lunacy?**

Ease to use interface. Fast and lightweight software. Its the best alternative to sketch app for MAC OS. I have personally found it very simple and feature centric tool.

**What do you dislike about Lunacy?**

1. If it has plugins features where the user can add more tools and features that will be great addition.
2. There is no cross-application import/export of other file formats

**Recommendations to others considering Lunacy:**

If you are looking for an ease-to-use app for UI design and prototyping then Lunacy is the way to go!!

**What problems is Lunacy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

sketch files are mainly for MacOS and this app is very useful for designing and opening existing sketch files in windows.

  ### 14. Rapidly improving sketch tool for Windows

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 28, 2020

**What do you like best about Lunacy?**

Lunacy solves a critical problem - editing sketch files in Windows. I was thrilled when I found it because I had no other option to edit sketch files. The team behind the tool has been rapidly improving it. It has all the tools I need.

**What do you dislike about Lunacy?**

I still get critical performance issues when opening larger files, to the point where the app crashes randomly. Plus, there are more than a couple of UI bugs, for example, minimizing and maximizing windows leads to some weird flickering and even parts of the UI disappearing.

**Recommendations to others considering Lunacy:**

If you're facing the need of having a solid Windows tool for editing sketch files, then Lunacy is no doubt the way to go.

**What problems is Lunacy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main problem I'm solving is opening sketch files when I'm not using a Mac laptop.

  ### 15. The best alternative to Sketch (and it's for Windows!)

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Erik M. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 21, 2019

**What do you like best about Lunacy?**

It is free and accessible to all. Lunacy is constantly being updated, and the developers are listening to their audience. You can see problems from the forums being addressed in each build (and it is updating constantly). I love that I have a viable option for working on Sketch files on my Windows machine.

**What do you dislike about Lunacy?**

There are a few hiccups when using Lunacy as it's still being developed and the kinks are being ironed out/ However, I am confident in the development team and enjoy having access to the beta versions of each build.

**Recommendations to others considering Lunacy:**

Keep your eyes on their website and forum for updates and beta versions that you can dive right into. The developers really listen to their consumers and care about improving and building upon the already successful product they have released. I am so happy to have a Sketch alternative for my Windows machine!

**What problems is Lunacy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have a Macbook only because I needed Sketch. Lunacy allows me to work on all of my projects on a single Windows machine. You can also manually update the program through Icons8's website. I prefer manual updates for privacy reasons.

  ### 16. Good, basic, Windows sketch tool. Lacks features & should be easier to use, but constantly updating

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Juan Camilo R. | Project Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 01, 2019

**What do you like best about Lunacy?**

The app quickly lets you choose what you want to do. An iphone 8 sketch? a Mac background? an Icon set? A windows wallpaper? an Iphone X background?

Just choose exactly what it is that you want to do and the app will let you work your vision and export your file.

It has some of the basic needed features, like basic drawing, geometric figures, coloring & coding, and image importing.

It's a very small file, and it's not a resource hog. All it took was a one 11mb download and a very small installation file & I was sketching 5 minutes later without having to worry about giant, poorly optimized files eating all of my PC's resources.

**What do you dislike about Lunacy?**

It's not as intuitive and easy to use, at first sight, the software is more intimidating to use than basic image editors and it should aim to correct this.

Some of the features are very barebones, like import image basically just puts the image on the screen instead of letting me decide how I want to import it beforehand.

Drawing, coloring, and text options are again lacking additional features and a more friendly UI and rely on the user having a deeper understanding of customization and previous experience.

It could use more export options to different formats.

**Recommendations to others considering Lunacy:**

Just give a try, the file is so small and the software is easy to pick up, in a couple of minutes you will see if it's ease of use is enough for you, and the features fulfill your requirements.

**What problems is Lunacy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Lunacy is more advanced than your usual basic imaging tool, and on a very small package allows you to quickly make basic sketches, icons, walls and similar art designs.

It's a great middle ground in order to quickly sketch basic to moderate art without having to rely on superb expensive or complex software.

  ### 17. Lunacy, Microsoft's great alternative to Sketch

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nikita P. | freelance, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 17, 2019

**What do you like best about Lunacy?**

With Lunacy, from Icon( now we can open Sketch files from a Windows environment and:
- Organize pages and artboards.
- Draw, design, align objects.
- Edit CSS, XAML code.
- Import or export elements in JPEG, JPG, PNG with transparencies and even SVG.
- Typographic tools of all kinds.
Additionally, you have serious and consistent support behind it. It is possible to download it for free from the official website. Something very positive to save some money.

**What do you dislike about Lunacy?**

At the moment, there is only an installable version and a portable one on the official website. It would be great to do it from the browser without needing to install anything on the machine and use it simply with an Internet connection. Similarly, in Lunacy, we still find some errors that do not ruin the experience for us, but they should gradually be resolved or an update should be released for these bugs (mainly related to the drawing options of certain shapes and figures, or the cutting options, which at least I have not been able to locate).

**Recommendations to others considering Lunacy:**

Now you will be able to open your designs in .sketch file format without any issues in an environment with a Microsoft Windows operating system.

**What problems is Lunacy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In our workplace, we need to open .sketch files frequently, something we couldn't do on Windows until now thanks to iCon8 and its Lunacy. We use it in web design training courses for creating wireframes, as Lunacy is very intuitive and easy to use.

  ### 18. Great free tool for quick turnaround of design concepts.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Graham D. | Data Engineer, Real Estate, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2019

**What do you like best about Lunacy?**

Took me 5 minutes to figure out, after that allows you to quickly produce mockups. You can save straight to the CDN for rapid sharing. And it's free.

**What do you dislike about Lunacy?**

One irritating bug: cursor is not 'background aware' so editing text on a black background is a bit irritating.

**Recommendations to others considering Lunacy:**

Try it. If you use Sketch, tell your PC friends about it.

**What problems is Lunacy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Working collaboratively with our product team, who use Sketch on Macs.

  ### 19. Lunacy is what I hope 10/10

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lucy Celeste P. | Diseño gráfico web, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 28, 2019

**What do you like best about Lunacy?**

Clearly what calls users to come for "Lunacy" is the ability it has to open and save .sketch files. What others say does not bother me. Many come for that main reason. Execente reason.
It has the facility to visualize CSS and XAML files.
This application brings a very useful tool "mascara" facilitates jobs.
Cleaning, precision, very few errors, ideal for web design. Create icons and edit them to your liking, even change the color with icons8.
the computer does not hang Work smoothly with your computer.
It has its own system of updates for the sources. Use the Google engine to search the sources. Wonderful this.
You can download it for free. I have not tried it on MAC but on Windows it's great. It is very compatible with most operating systems.
Is it free I already mentioned it? Save money with this and edit by investing little money. It's almost the same as ADOBE.

**What do you dislike about Lunacy?**

Problems with reproduction and undoing.
You can only explore SVG and PNG, that's not very good.
Put cutting tool on it, it's nowhere to be found.

**Recommendations to others considering Lunacy:**

For the design it is important to be up-to-date, currently a lot of .sketch files are used. This is undoubtedly the biggest solution that the tool offers.

**What problems is Lunacy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

  ### 20. newly developing application

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mohit K. | Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 01, 2019

**What do you like best about Lunacy?**

It's free to use no need to register and all for using the application. Could easily Download and use. We could easily create customised icons according to our requirements. Could create free hand pictures and UI similar to paint.

**What do you dislike about Lunacy?**

No support for mac, and product looks little bit underdeveloped when we create things from scratch.

**Recommendations to others considering Lunacy:**

Good tool for creating customised look and feel. Must give a try, you could create images and all.

**What problems is Lunacy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Created images with custom objects and pictures using tools and options.

  ### 21. Excellent access to .sketch files.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniel J. | Organic Chemistry PhD Student, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 03, 2019

**What do you like best about Lunacy?**

Lunacy lets me access and use a variety of sketches for Windows. I used to create my own sketches using other designer programs, but it took me a while, so I’m grateful for the option to access readily available .sketches files.

**What do you dislike about Lunacy?**

The interface is good and it’s a user-friendly product, although it can always be improved. I have seen some changes being made along the way, which suggests that their team is actually listening and improving the software as glitches appear.

**What problems is Lunacy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I create presentations and reports and sometimes need to include visuals to represent specific patterns. Lunacy helps me access figures and sketches to improve my reports. It’s really awesome!

**What do you like best about Lunacy?**

1. The ability to open and save .sketch files
2. We don't have to worry about the missing fonts anymore as Lunacy will check Google Fonts and download those that are missing
3. Quickly view the CSS and XAML code generated from the object which is helpful for web designer
4. The mask tool is great

**What do you dislike about Lunacy?**

1. The tools like Union, Subtract and Intersect need to be improved because if we undo and redo the operation, the second object will be thrown away from the main object and we need to re-adjust its position
2. Lunacy should provide more wide range export option, not just SVG and PNG with only 4 times magnification
3. There are no additional shapes like polygon and star. Also no slicing tools

**Recommendations to others considering Lunacy:**

After Gravit Designer was acquired by Corel and introduce the pro version of their software, I began to look for another alternative similar software because there are so many limitations on the free version even the basic function like export. Then I found Lunacy. Lunacy is good windows alternative for Sketch App. The basic function like organize pages and artboards, draw, join, align objects, and basic typography tool can be done easily by Lunacy. Last but not least, it's free. You should definitely try it.

**What do you like best about Lunacy?**

I have lots of .sketch files and couldn't do anything with them as I Windows didn't support them. Now thanks to iCon8, I can now edit use .sketch files using their latest windows application.
I use Lunacy to make my websites wireframes. Prior to this, I used to use Illustrator but this much easier.

I wish it was a browser application instead of a desktop application. Don't really like desktop apps.
