It has tests that mimic the real standardized assessment which provides students with familiarity and the chance to gain confidence in their test taking skills. Furthermore, the Lumos StepUp program is proven to improve test scores. With so much emphasis placed on test scores, students need individualized instrutction which this software can provide. As students move through a plethora of questions, they become increasingly familiar with assessment styles and are able to see where their gaps are. Due to the vast number of questions, teachers and students can work to facilitate mastery in weak areas. I have seen the huge difference that this program can make in my students' lives, and I know that it has helped many students learn at their own pace. Two additional benefits of the program are the homework assistant and the coach. Not every student has a parent at home that can assist them, but Lumos StepUp's unique access to artificial intelligence (AI) makes it possible for those students to get extra assistance as needed. As a teacher, I also love that a coach will review their work from time to time and see how they are making progress. This allows students to see that their performance is not just to check off their list, but because people really want to see how this program is helping them succeed. Students today learn through gamiification type settings, and this platform provides just that! **What do you dislike about Lumos StepUp?** Currently I have only used the ELA and the Math StepUp programs; I wish there was a science and social studies content available to use with students. **Recommendations to others considering Lumos StepUp:** Secure funding to make the program stick. I am trying to acquire funds to get the program back in my school. **What problems is Lumos StepUp solving and how is that benefiting you?** I have realized that students can move at their own pace and gain more knowledge than through direct instruction. I also like that I have quick access to support materials for those gaps and don't have to look everywhere for worksheets. In addition the children also receive instant feedback on their skills and it helps the see what the know and don't know. **What do you dislike about Lumos StepUp?** Sometimes the interface can be a little confusing and I need to look around for different reports. For example, if I am looking for student specific results versus group reports it seems like I click on a bunch of links before finding what I need. Also having to type in a description for the assignments is super annoying. **Recommendations to others considering Lumos StepUp:** Get this early in the school year. It really helps. **What problems is Lumos StepUp solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use diagnostic test to progress monitor but the feedback can be confusing. Knowing what kind of questions my students are struggling with helps me teach better. For example, I kept getting feed back that my students need to work on telling time to the minute but what they really need was the ability to do time math. ### 4. They have lots of resources and videos available to use as well. I am currently using it with a small select group of students during an extended school day whose scores on last years state test were bordering the next proficiency level so we can give those students that extra boost this year to gain a level on the state test(that is my goal as a teacher and our goal as a school this year). I am very pleased with the level of curriculum this has added to help us in trying to reach our goals. **What do you dislike about Lumos StepUp?** I can't dislike the program I only dislike that I have a small portion of it currently. So far everything that I have worked with within the program has been easy and beneficial. **What problems is Lumos StepUp solving and how is that benefiting you?** Trying to increase state test scores. After analyzing last school years data identified a group who needed more in the RP state standard so we have been using those lessons to work with our students this year attempting to give those students that extra boost when they test this school year. ### 5. I like how teachers get a report of student progress. **What do you dislike about Lumos StepUp?** I think it would be good for students to instantly get a reponse for each one of their answers on the practice test, instead of waiting until the end of the assessment. **What problems is Lumos StepUp solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are working on former concepts that have already been taught in class. The greatest benefit is that I have RICAS practice problems available to my algebra students whose current curriculum does not reflect RICAS problems. ### 6.
