Often it is great if you can find motivated groups already involved in your topic of interest, but that may not always be the case or they may carry politics/bias that are not helpful. Being able to create a group of high value folks is very helpful and cheaper than consultants.

Need to dedicate some time and understand group dynamics to keep things moving and on track

I like the ease of inviting audiences and being able to focus on areas of interest. So great to have this pool of expertise and coordination in selecting experts and engaging in conversations.

It's always tricky when members don't engage or accept invitations to join in on the collaboration, but fortunately there are many other members to try and engage with.

We are bringing expertise together, mining interesting insights from member experiences, tackling some interesting problems with great ideas in the areas of automation, machine learning and lead gen in a Covid world.

LinkedIn groups help in creating a great platform for gathering thoughts on a topic or a forum for discussion/info dissipation etc. We could also understand the background of various members and also indulge in targetted invitations.

Sometimes the discussion gets hijacked tangentially. Also there could be more parameters enabled for group ombudsman

I love how LinkedIn groups allow additional opportunities to connect with people in a variety of different areas. In regards to business, you are able to connect with people in similar roles, to gather tips/ ideas/ strategies; targeted promotion of your company/brand/event.

Some groups are very picky, or have non active group admins who take a longer time to approve.

Limits on number of groups you can join. I find that to be rather useless restriction, and frustrating when I come across a new one that is interesting or potentially beneficial.

I don't dislike anything about LinkedIn Groups so far! Every group I'm in has always been helpful and respectful.

Especially since events began moving to virtual settings, LinkedIn Groups have helped to connect with industry leaders and professionals constantly. You don't always have to wait for a virtual or in-person event to share your thoughts or ask essential questions.

A downside is the negative comments left by users. Sometimes that took away the motivation of members trying to participate.

Being able to communicate with people in the same industry. It's simple to navigate and can be very knowledgeable

You have to get approved for some groups before you can join. You only gain from groups if you devote time. So little time means little gain and vice versa
