**What do you dislike about LibreOffice Writer?**

Cons:
1. User Interface: Interface is non user friendly compare to word
2. Collaboration Tools: It lacks robust online collaboration features, which can be a drawback for team projects.
3. One cannot insert multiple images at one shot, you have to insert every image individually by repeating same action.
4. Very annoying image align tool is also not good, it will not work if you rotated the image after insertion in file
5. It has very less built in shapes to use and also one cannot edit those shapes easily
6. It does not have an icon library.
7. Table formatting tools is less hence one has to do more manual work adjustment.

**What problems is LibreOffice Writer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When any one just want quick image print this is the best option because you no need to pay for software and you can quickly install and start your work,
document creation is quite easy when you install free plugins and you can ramp your speed.
When I have to include the mathematical equations in my document, rather using different paid tools,i simply use Texmath as this will help me to include precise expression.
And also help me to generate.SVG and .PNG raster images and the svg one can be resized without losing quality which is very important for high resolution document.
And I can adjust the transparency of fonts to match the formatting of document.

**What do you like best about LibreOffice Writer?**

One of the main advantages is that it's open source and offers regular support and updates that include enhancements to existing features. In terms of performance, it handles files of considerable size without problems, ideal when working on my reports and educational manuals. It offers options for importing and exporting documents in a variety of recognized formats and I can use it on both Windows and Linux.

I can't help but mention one small improvement that would be useful, the icons for some features could be a little larger to enhance quick navigation; other than that I haven't other major criticisms.

**What problems is LibreOffice Writer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It has outstanding performance and always allows me to perform all necessary functions in an agile way. I'm able to compose documents and spreadsheets faster without it slowing down. Added to this the capacity to export documents to different formats makes easier for me to collaborate with teams using other systems.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lucy k. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 20, 2023

**What do you like best about LibreOffice Writer?**

Libreoffice Writer is a excellent writer when it comes to creating a document, newsletter ,bargraph and even spreadsheet creation in a writer since we store databases in excel app but libreoffice makes it easy for us for creating different forms of a data in a single writer.

**What do you dislike about LibreOffice Writer?**

LibreOfficer Writer stores the file in .odt extension as default which cannot be viewed in mobile. It does not have.doc extension and also it does not have a symbol or icon in the menu bar for adding more pages.

**What problems is LibreOffice Writer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

our organisation has a Linux os with ubunto software and we needed a writer which is free of cost and effective in creating a document which is solved by Libreoffice Writer it supports the oldest vdersion of linux and also it supports Windows 7 os effectively.

  ### 8. Good document editing tool, a little less accessible than Word

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sonal G. | Staff Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2023

**What do you like best about LibreOffice Writer?**

It lets you do the job of editing documents quite conveniently. Moreover, being open source, it was also very pocket friendly as well. It is quite similar to Word but accessibility issues are there, it's not very user friendly, UI wise.

**What do you dislike about LibreOffice Writer?**

You would really need to find the controls and the icons because the look and feel is quite different from Microsoft Word. Most of us are used too Word, and hence it is a little challenging to use this particular software which has different menus and options.

**What problems is LibreOffice Writer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Because the company did not have budget to buy the professional license for Microsoft Word, we got LibreOffice installed on our machines. It does have the entire suite of tools for creating documents, slides, sheets etc, so all the functions were achieved using this tool.

  ### 9. The best free and open-source document writing tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jayesh R. | Software Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 30, 2023

**What do you like best about LibreOffice Writer?**

LibreOffice Writer is an excellent free and open-source content-writing tool. It is a great alternative to Microsoft Office Word. It comes built-in with a Linux OS like Ubuntu. We can write content, add images and create PDFs using LibreOffice Writer. The best part is we can also use MS Word file extensions ".dox" and ".docx", so the files can also be used on the Windows platform.

**What do you dislike about LibreOffice Writer?**

There is nothing to dislike about LibreOffice Writer. A few feature improvements are required, like Content Sharing using a centralised account. The speed can be improved. Else everything is perfect.

**What problems is LibreOffice Writer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use LibreOffice Writer to read and write document files. It provides many valuable features like any word processor software. It has a built-in dictionary for typing errors or spelling mistakes. LibreOffice Writer supports multi-language for internationalisation. The best part is it's free and open-source.

  ### 10. Libra office needs a lot of improvement

**What do you like best about LibreOffice Writer?**

Free and Open Source!
Strong Community support
Regular Updates
Support a good number of Documents extensions or you can say have good compatibility.

**What do you dislike about LibreOffice Writer?**

The interface is very poor, although improving with time, but still needs a lot of improvement, so not easy to use.
I well it is bit slow many a times.
Also, there is no cloud integration, although I rarely feel the need, but sometimes it proves handy.

**What problems is LibreOffice Writer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Well, no one is capable of buying costly Windows Office, so on my Ubuntu machine, I always rely on LibraOffice only. I do not need to think about any software licensing and all. As this is open source and not connected to any cloud so I can say that my data will always stay personal and no way any organisation can have any data breach!

  ### 13. Updated more easily than MS Word so I can always read the latest documents

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Philip H. | Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 25, 2020

**What do you like best about LibreOffice Writer?**

* LibreOffice is community-supported, so it is updated very frequently. This means that, when Microsoft creates a new Word file format, LibreOffice Writer can read and write it within a few days, and the software update is quick and easy. My parents have updated LibreOffice Writer without help for years!
* The software is also multi-platform, and is included in most Linux distros.
* The only MS Word features not included are those that hardly anyone ever uses, and the standard features that are frequently used by everyone are all available.
* Many of the software files are shared between Writer, Calc, Impress and Base, so they all work fairly seamlessly with each other.
* ODT (Text files) are now readable by MS Word.

**What do you dislike about LibreOffice Writer?**

* Because LibreOffice shares a lot of files with other applications in the suite, it can take a while to load initially, even if you only intend to use Writer.

**What problems is LibreOffice Writer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

* Multi-platform editing of files is seamless. Even though the icons may not be exactly the same on different platforms, the functionality is identical.

The search and replace functionality is similarly powerful, with the ability to search for styles, formatting and regular expressions.

Potential formatting differences between LibreOffice Writer and Microsoft Word. Of course, if that is a problem, you should use PDF for the final print version and markup language to facilitate editing and layout before that.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sudip A. | Technical Writer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 24, 2022

**What do you like best about LibreOffice Writer?**

The best thing about it is being an open-source and freemium product with near-similar features to those of paid opponents like the Microsoft office package and WPS office. You can do pretty much anything you want from premium word processors for free using LibreOffice Writer.

**What do you dislike about LibreOffice Writer?**

It only stands out in terms of its pricing. Other than that, it mainly needs a lot of improvement in processing and formating documents while importing from other word processors. It constantly gets laggy for no reason and sometimes changes the file format completely which we created in MS word prior to opening it in LibreOffice Writer.

**What problems is LibreOffice Writer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For me, it serves the purpose of ms word while I'm working on linux os as it is hassle-free and comes preinstalled with most of the linux os.

**What problems is LibreOffice Writer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It does not cost anything on our pocket as it is freely available. And it helps with all the features needed for day to day office work. It helps to prepare spreadsheet, presentation, word which requires paid subscription on Windows platform.

  ### 30. Free Document Creator to Cover All the Basics

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joseph D. | L, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 10, 2021

**What do you like best about LibreOffice Writer?**

All customer support has access to Libre Office because it's free, simple, and gets the job done. We can read and write everything from proposals and private information to lists that store frequently used hyperlinks when emailing customers.

**What do you dislike about LibreOffice Writer?**

I'd like a few more fonts to choose from and more versatility in table creation. I don't really complain since it's free, but having these in the menu would allow my documents to have much greater versatility and presentability.

**What problems is LibreOffice Writer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The expense of funding a paid writing program with 500 employees is not desirable. Therefore, having this reasonable solution saves the company much money. All the menu and formatting options are easy to access and learn to use, which is good because I did not have experience with this program before working at my current job. If I could not understand this program quickly, my productivity would stagnate.

**What do you dislike about LibreOffice Writer?**

Sometimes doc gets deformed when opened with libre office. Image adjustment sometimes becomes difficult too with the libre office.

A free alternative to MS Office and provides almost all the functionality for your day-to-day document editing.

  ### 34. The Best Free MS Office Alternative

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mateo F. | Sys Admin, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 05, 2021

**What do you like best about LibreOffice Writer?**

This software is 100% free and offers comparable features and capabilities as ANY paid word processor suite. Compare this is MS office, or Google Docs and LibeOffice stands right with them.

**What do you dislike about LibreOffice Writer?**

Despite all of its excellent features and ease of use, LibreOffice can sometimes feel a bit bloated and laggy. Its obvious that this software doesn't have the same support as MS office. But when considering this software is entirely free, its falts are greatly over shadowed.

**What problems is LibreOffice Writer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Not many issues, only that the software is a bit laggy when undergoing intense excel use. But it is a free software, so its hard to complain about any minor inconvience.

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Food & Beverages | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2021

**What do you like best about LibreOffice Writer?**

I enjoy the ease of use that this product offers. The controls take a little to get used to, but with some time it's a breeze to use. The interface is basic yet simple, not too complicated or confusing.

**What do you dislike about LibreOffice Writer?**

Although this product offers many positives or pros, the biggest downside for me personally has been the functionality. What you are able to do and create on the program can end up being *slightly* basic just because the options aren't as great as a program such as Microsoft Word.

**What problems is LibreOffice Writer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The current problem I'm dealing with is truly just getting used to the different shortcuts than the previous program I was using. Some of the benefits include the interface being simple and user-friendly, as well as the program just overall being easy to use.

**Reviewed Date:** December 01, 2021

**What do you like best about LibreOffice Writer?**

I think the best part about LibreOffice is that it comes auto installed with Ubuntu systems and is extremely low priced for a copy of the more popular Office tool.

**What do you dislike about LibreOffice Writer?**

It is definitely not as good or reliable. It also tries to imitate all features and it fails or hangs on multiple occasions. It could use a little bit of development and hiring them would help improve the community.

Free. Free. Free. I am self-employed and a free tool like this that I use every single day in my work is priceless.

**What do you dislike about LibreOffice Writer?**

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 04, 2021

**What do you like best about LibreOffice Writer?**

I love that libre office writer is free and has several features that are similar to Word for creating documents. Like in Word, you can add both pictures and text, change the fonts, set up your page, etc.

**What do you dislike about LibreOffice Writer?**

Because not as many people have LibreOffice Writer, it is less compatible with other computers or people. With the advent of google docs, I have found that a sufficient resource if I do not want to pay for Microsoft Word. Libre office can probably do more than Google docs, but it is a little bit clumsier than Word to use and, as mentioned earlier, harder to use for sharing or collaboration.

**What problems is LibreOffice Writer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

LibreOffice Writer allows me to word process without internet on a free piece of software. If I do not have Word or a similar word processing software and do not want to use Google docs or don't have access to the internet, LibreOffice Writer offers a worthwhile alternative.
