What I like most is how extensible and robust the LV SDK is. Being able to use Groovy for more complex calculations, along with the REST API for custom integrations with our Java backend, lets us tailor the LIMS to very specific laboratory workflows. While the platform is powerful, debugging Groovy scripts and custom Java code can be cumbersome. The repeated cycle of deploying changes and then testing them inside the LIMS environment often feels slower than what I’m used to in modern web development workflows, and that can reduce development velocity when working on more complex customizations. I have found LabVantage staff very engaging and easy to work with. I have done several projects with them and each time has been above average in helping to achieve the business aims. I like that they inject their opinion on the best way to go using experience from their brand customer base, but in the end support what ever our objectives are.
