It is very straightforward. Most of the features are self explanatory and are not ridiculously complicated. Does not take a ton of time to learn most of it. Very easy to learn! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The last time I used it, there were not many shortcuts. The process to create something took a while. The lack of complication caused things to take longer. This sometimes made it seem like it took more actions to accomplish a simple task than necessary. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Easy Mechanical 3D objects modeling and nice choice for quality animations production and its also used by Engineers for clear 2D documentations for the various projects.

KeyCreator Windows deployment its functional and the online support provided for their customers and also the availability of their free trial. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
KeyCreator its simple from the installation to the usability, and the online training can really helpful to those just getting started. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Work with 3D part from others CAD systems are easy and fast.
You are not tied to any constraints. I have 15 years using it and the company has been growing in the right direction. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
2D Layout mode could be improved specifically when you do a 2d layout unbended. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like that Kubotek KeyCreator provides an easy to use interface that easily integrates with auxiliary software to fill all kinds of needs. Kubotek KeyCreator is an easy to use software that is just as powerful as some of the top software in the industry. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Kubotek KeyCreator is not as robust of a software as some of the competing programs on the market. Sometimes a function may not work for unexplained reasons. If you’re willing to deal with occasional reboots to solve these issues, it’s no big deal. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Key creator has never failed to produce our designs no matter how complex the job. The software is a complex and complete 3D package with rendering and even animation capabilities and yet has one of the shortest learning curves to be proficient with that I've ever seen. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Minor bugs typically make their way into new versions (wait until the patch to update) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like that Kubotek KeyCreator has become more intuitive over the last few years. The last version I used was version 15.0 and it has come a long way from the beginning. Hot keys make the efficient use of core tools and features literally appear at your fingertips. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
KeyCreator is not as mainstream of a software when compared to the likes of SolidWorks and AutoCAD, so they try to accentuate their differences by implementing small changes CAD methodology which sometimes can be detrimental to workflow when using multiple software packages within a company. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
KeyCreator has an easy to use interface.
Most of the features are intuitive.
I like that they make mose of thier features easy to find and the icons are very explanatory.
I love that KeyCreator can easily read older files and import them into the software to be used. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
KeyCreator does not always provide repeatability when performing trim/unite operations.
It has been known to crash when performing certain operations.
I wish that Keycreator would make some of its features more intuitive. Some very useful feature of this software are located in hard-to-find places in the software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
KeyCreator as a yacht design tool offers a perfect blend of both freeform surfacing and mechanical design abilities. I've used this software since its inception over 35 years ago for marine design and everything that goes into making a yacht or boat work. And its never let me down. Its fast and agile software that allows for a very quick and intuitive design process. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Not a dislike but more of an enhancement request. I'd love to see some features like Kinematics for calculating load paths, cage editing of surfaces and a simpler animation configuration that would allow for manually moving/testing motions during the design process without formally initiating "animation". Kind of like animation on the fly so to speak. I'd also like to see a direct translator to work with KeyShot for rendering work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
-Easy and friendly interface for the new users or beginners to be able to get used to the product leading to better service production.
- Very powerful drawing components, and also perfect in management of files. Excellent in creating 3D tool and simple in editing.
-Quick 2D drawing and detailing ability and production of professional designs and medels especially for Mechanical services.
-User can customize KeyCreator to fit any project styles depending on the industry involved and Importing of solid models.
-Efficiency of their customer support and response is another thing i love about this software and its the fastest in translating. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
-KeyCreator its the most appropriate in designing, but Importing process needs a very experienced user. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like the powerful and flexible set of Geometry Creation Tools in Keycreator.
This allows us to work with any customers geometry using the built in translators. I am always able to translate and edit the geometry from any drawings for use in our CAM systems for machining.
It might be surprising to some since 3D is all that is usually talked about today but one of my favorite things about KeyCreator is it's powerful 2D capabilities.
Much of our work still requires perfect 2D geometry. I was totally surprised that while some other very popular CAD packages are great at 3D they are very poor at 2D.
I am able to extract and edit 2D geometry for all our needs easily and efficiently as well as take 2D geometry and build a 3D model from it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are more flexible and powerful assembly tools in other packages but those packages are also more expensive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What would I consider to be great about this program, The very simple layout, very easy to maneuver and remember where everything is located. Compatibility is a must and I have not found a program that has so many other programs that work together fluidly Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
the program does everything I need it to do, therefor no problems yet. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Like the logical self-intuitive geometrically based interface that comes at an affordable price. In working with clients have also had to engage with Solid Works, AutoCAD, NavisWorks, AutoPipe and other modelling programs which I dislike because there's a lot of non-intuitive add-ons which are difficult to remember if you're not using them all the time. Even with some of these other programs, I may also create a parallel Key Creator model as a check on the spatial information. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Have always found it a bit of a challenge updating settings when moving to a later version. Better now than it used to be. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Some of the features are easy to use. I like that you can use the F keys. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I dislike the online help. It is missing alot of information for certain features. Alot of the features are difficult to find in the program for 3D models. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
KeyCreator has been an amazing teaching tool for my Middle and High school classes. With the customizable toolbars, it's easy to get kids from a basic understand the tools to getting them to explore some of the more detailed nooks and crannnies of the program. The commands and the ability to translate files allows for interdisciplinary applications in art, graphic design and mathematics, and the ability to design for 3d printing is smooth. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Animations and textures can be a little tricky to figure out and apply. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Down and dirty...very easy to learn and use. I've used other CAD software and there is just too many "bells and whistles" that are not needed. I simply love the layering making it very nice to identify parts and the sub-parts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It is not as powerful with solid radii. I have to log out of it on occasion because the part starts loosing visible parts. I really do not have many complaints at all. Keycreator is just great for FAST design Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The direct modeling software is easy to use. When I took this job after college and had to learn this software, I was surprised at how quickly I picked it up. The seamless ability to model in 3D and 2D is fantastic. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The software doesn't have the support or user base of the larger CAD programs. The updates and new versions often have bugs (one update would crash every time we would print), and tutorials or help online is non-existent. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I used AutoCAD at my old job. I was able to pick up with KeyCreator fairly easily. The learning curve was shallow as opposed to steep. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Some of the functions are 180 degrees backwards, from other CAD systems, in regards to the order you select the parts. This is easily overcome by familiarizing yourself with the software and taking the time to actually read the prompts as opposed to just clicking as you would with AutoCAD. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The ease use, we are a custom metal fabrication shop and this works real well for both creating drawings as well as translating AutoCad drawings from customers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are still a few bugs to be worked out in the new release but, overall there in anything to dislike. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Compared to what it was 15 years ago, KeyCreator has really improved in compatibility and HW requirements. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
From time to time floating licenses get locked by an user for no apparent reason, freeing one has not being that easy. I would expect if a user disconnects from the netwrok then the seat should be available again, specially if the user logs in and out. That's somethign which doens't happen. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We started with Cadkey v3 during the last century. Keycreator is the successor and is much more powerful.
We have the flexibility to work with very basic 2D geometry or advanced 3D Solid Modeling. The ability to create and modify any geometry and convert to a CAM system is priceless to me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Automation Tools are not as advanced as some other packages Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Keycreator's ability to be able to bring in complex surface and solid model geometry from any neutral solid and create tooling. KC allows us to turn CAD models into CNC machined aluminum tooling better than any other CAD program we have ever worked with.
We are a job shop, so we deal with all of the popular CAD programs, and Keycreator handles them all nicely. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The only real down side to Keycreator is that it does not have the high end rendering capabilities commonly found in other packages like Solidworks, but it does not come with all of the associated headaches of history based design either, so we stick with Keycreator because we like geometry based design. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like the versatility that KeyCreator allows in CAD design. I can make changes to my model separate from a model tree which I really like. The surfacing functions in KeyCreator are really great! I also like that through the years KeyCreator has been continually improving their software and there is a lot of room for growth with the foundation that they have. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are occasions where a standard part or design would be better suited for a model tree file construction and certain features of the design process would be better if they were parametric. Such as adding holes as features that don't destroy the underlying solid. I feel that the animation package leaves a lot to be desired as its a little clunky and could be made more user friendly. I also feel that the software still needs to be a lot faster than it is. Designers are making ever more complex part designs and as those file sizes are growing the software gets laggy despite having one of the best graphics cards on the market.
