Since we have a small but fast growing company, Juniper Square literally keeps me sane! Having all of our deal information in one place means our staff can stay on the same page even when we aren't in the same place. The email archiving and notes features help to keep us up to date on the latest deal details and the email tracking feature lets us know which investors we should follow up with. I also really like the Data Rooms feature. Adding and updating documents, photos and deal information is super fast and creates a professional presentation for our investors. With one email, I can send a personalized offering to our investors. My job is so much easier since I'm not having to prepare the investor presentations myself. Of course, none of this would be possible without the Customer Success Team who made roll out super easy and are very proactive about staying in touch to make sure I'm using the software features to their fullest extent. Through implementing Juniper Square several years ago, we have been able to consolidate numerous excel spreadsheets, saving time and frustration. A few things that I think Juniper could improve on are: 1) Being able to quickly stop processing an email blast; therefore if a mistake is made in the email and caught in time, the email would stop being sent out. 2) Uploading of documents- using the example of quarterly investor letters. Every quarter we post an investor letter for each investment entity (about 30 at this point in time). To have to go into every investment entity individually and post the relevant letter takes a lot of time. It would be wonderful if Juniper could mass upload the letters and with its technology determine which entity the letter is for (similar to how Juniper can decipher which K-1 goes to which investor). 3) Distributions. We generally have the same distribution every quarter. It would make things easier, and faster, if there was a simple way to roll over/copy/duplicate distributions. Currently, we upload the same distribution file every single time and quarter. 4) Creating email blast lists. Instead of having to recreate and re-select from the group of contacts and scrolling through the 1,000+ contacts in our database, it would be helpful if I had the ability to create and save a distribution email list (of specific contacts) and use that list going forward. Our companies sometimes has complex data that is difficult to customize in Juniper without manipulating spreadsheets. One example is that the downloadable reports for Accounts pulls different information from the Contacts (and in a different format), so when trying to combine that data, it posed a larger issue for us. Our firm was looking for a solution to manage our investors' quarterly updates, tax documents, distributions, subscription documents, etc. in one spot versus a handful of different Excel documents. We also needed a more efficient process for sending out communications to investors on a mass scale. Juniper Square answered all of our needs. The set up process was much easier than expected because of the dedicated team Juniper Square assigns to each client. The JS team uploads all information into the portal (we did not have to upload one thing!) and linked the portal directly to our website, so investors can easily access it. We love the fact that the portal is branded for our firm and does not show Juniper Square on the public side. After setting our portal live, we continue to receive great customer service through our dedicated rep and the support call in line. When we send in a question, we receive a response email or call within minutes. We recently launched a new fund and subscribed all investors through our Juniper Square portal. It was easy to upload all of the details of the fund, photos of the property, returns, financials, track fundraising etc. The software reduces the subscription process time greatly and keeps all necessary documents in one place. Not only has it made our team's lives easier, but we receive consistent feedback from investors on how easy the platform is and convenient it is to have all documents in one place. The web based platform is extremely easy to navigate and is crisp on a computer or mobile device. The CRM functionality is seemless with all of the data and reporting functions providing simple and easy interfaces to view relevant information. Investor communications and communication tracking is made extremely easy. The investor dashboard is very well done and has been very well received by our investors. There are some nit pick things in the software that could use some additional polish by adding functionality or connecting some missing gaps. However, on the whole the software is extremely well designed and structured. The positives far outweigh the negatives and the work around for the things that are missing are not too difficult. Also, Juniper Square seems committed to constantly improving and upgrade the software. I'm confident that the gaps will get filled with future updates to the software. Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) 3/27/2020 "Hesitate to share our competitive advantage..." 5/5 What do you like best about Juniper Square? - The user interface is beautiful and easy to use - Features were thoughtfully constructed for real estate partnerships - The data loading process was very professional; they handled all of the uploading of our data and gave us helpful instructions to verify the data - The on-barding process was excellent; they assigned an account manager that has helped to train us on everything we've asked about; they're really smart in helping you set 1-2 goals of ways to extract value from the software in a 1-3 month timeframe, and then once you've mastered those workflows and been able to generate value from Juniper Square you can move on to understanding and utilizing the next value-added feature - Our investors have given us many compliments on how much better our portal is than the portals of many other sponsors or managers they work with. What do you dislike about Juniper Square? - This isn't unique to JSQ, but with any new software you have to spend a lot of time in it to both get to know how to use it and making sure the data is right; and you have to help train your investors that if they have questions they should first start with logging into the portal - The upload of excel files and data for self-service upload has been a bit temperamental. They provide a template, but, for various reasons, our data has worked sometimes and not at other times. Of course the data has to be exactly right otherwise their system can't recognize data. In some cases I've been surprised how easy it's worked, but I know that our team members have complained a bit. - The software doesn't have great formatting capabilities in the report creation module. They have 3-4 notices/reports you can create, which are great and very clean, but I'm surprised there aren't more templates or options to adapt them. Recommendations to others considering Juniper Square: If you're ready to make the commitment to getting a tremendous amount of value (value to effort payoff of at least 3:1) then sign up now. We started with: 1) Wanting to have a self-service portal where our investors could log in and see all of their investment positions easily - we were able to roll that out within 8 weeks of giving them the data 2) Wanting to use the portal to complete a quarterly distribution -- we were able to do this within 12 weeks of giving them the data and it worked like clockwork, even though it was our first time Once we achieved those two simple goals, we've also taken advantage of the email and document delivery features (for K-1's and investor updates on the economy) as well as completed a subscription (and electronic signatures!) for a new acquisition.
