**Reviewed by:** Charles M. | Associate Professor of Biology, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 19, 2023

**What do you like best about JMP?**

JMP Is probably the best software package for most users. Once the mystery of the little red triangle is solved, all operations derive from menu selections. Informative interfaces also guide the user toward results that are easily understood. For most users, command-line functions can be avoided even larger statistical operations. Table and graphic displays can be customized to highlight aspects of the results, enhancing an understanding of the material to others.

**What do you dislike about JMP?**

Perhaps the immediate problem was the discovery of the little red triangle, within which all options are provided for statistical analyses. Some tests, such as covariance and other non-standard analyses, are challenging to find. They exist but are generated through unexpected procedures or statistical methods.

**What problems is JMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My primary application of JMP lies in instructing students in biological statistics. The ability to subscribe to JMP provides students with an affordable pathway to its use. JMP also bypasses complex spreadsheet application commands and web-based product restrictions found in other tools.

**Reviewed Date:** August 05, 2022

**What do you like best about JMP?**

JMP is brilliant in that you can use it for small things like quickly creating some visually appealing graphs for a presentation, or it is perfect for more detailed work with large databases. I love the journals for interactive data sharing. they bring the story to life and aid me in communicating to others when presenting information. I really appreciate the JMP community, people are so willingly helpful with solutions and someone recently helped me build an add-in to help automate some work.

**What do you dislike about JMP?**

It is hard to comment on what I do not like, as I do find JMP a tool I could not live without. Thinking back to when I first started using it, I did struggle in the logic for locating everything I needed while I was getting used to it. For example, some of the icons are not the most intuitive - I used to get mixed up with graph builder and tabulate a lot! Potentially, a search bar or site map would allow for workarounds if you are struggling to locate a function would be my suggestion.

**What problems is JMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Making evidence-based decisions. Being able to easily sift through large databases that Excel would struggle with is a massive benefit. From this, we've been able to use journals and use graph builder to create visuals which disseminate the information in a way that people can digest and make decisions.

  ### 32. Quick Insights and Proof of Concepts

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Research | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 19, 2022

**What do you like best about JMP?**

JMP defaults to giving visualizations for various analyses, so insight isn't lost in the weeds. For example, instead of a distribution providing a mean, standard deviation, and quantiles, histograms or box plots are often drawn by default, making it easy to visually see outliers or what type of distribution it might be.

**What do you dislike about JMP?**

The JSL scripting language is a proprietary language that JMP uses for various tasks, however the user base is much smaller than other tools like python or R and the top search engine hits aren't going to be 5 ways people on stackoverflow solved a problem.

**What problems is JMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

JMP has fast turnaround for analyses, often in a small handful of button presses. While nothing in JMP can't be done in a language like python or R, the time and effort savings makes things take seconds to minutes.

**What do you like best about JMP?**

JMP is easy to teach within the time constraints needed to teach business analytics and statistical methodology. The setup of command listings is logical for the most part.

**What do you dislike about JMP?**

Each semester a few students have trouble downloading the software, but overall most can follow the directions. Usually, difficulties arise due to the student's lack of updated software or hardware requirements.
Some commands such as Multivariate / Multivariate Methods would be easier under Analyze / Correlation.

**What problems is JMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Baylor teaches simple linear regression and multiple regression where we predict companies' profits and costs, time series elements of forecasting business variables, logistic regression for determining whether customers will buy a product or not, visualization techniques, and analysis of variance methodologies.

  ### 36. Ushering in a new era of data science

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anderson M. | scientist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 24, 2022

**What do you like best about JMP?**

I like the fact that, while scripting is certainly possible (and encouraged!), you can really hit the ground running with some exceptionally advanced analytical approaches without having an advanced knowledge of writing scripts and codes. Things that take me 2-3 days to figure out how to do (and reproduce) in R, take 2-3 minutes in JMP.

**What do you dislike about JMP?**

JMP is NOT Excel, so it's not so much a matter of disliking JMP as it is learning what sorts of things spreadsheets are good for and when to switch over to JMP. Despite being incredibly JMP-savvy, there are STILL some things that are just faster and easier in Excel, though I imagine this will not be the case for much longer.

**Recommendations to others considering JMP:**

JMP has truly revolutionized how I do research, and I use it as a one-stop shop: data collection and curation, distributions, t-tests and ANOVAs, experimental design, multivariate statistics, figure-making, machine-learning, predictive modeling, and other platforms. I've been using approaches that have long been the domain of engineers (e.g., desirability analyses) to instead bio-engineer organisms and ecosystems.

**What problems is JMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am a coral reef researcher using the power of JMP to answer critical questions about the fates, longevity, and resilience of these emperiled, high-biodiversity ecosytems. Recently, this has involved a deep dive into machien learning, though I use a good 70% of the software package (JMP Pro specifically).

Software tool to assist in data analysis

  ### 38. JMP changed the course of my professional career

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rick M. | Instructor, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 18, 2022

**What do you like best about JMP?**

JMP gave me the tool to visually understand concepts they evaded me in school. This encouraged me to explore further and to eventually teach others. This wasn't the case with other software platforms .

**What do you dislike about JMP?**

The learning curve can be pretty steep. There are way too many menu options for a beginner. Sometimes the features I see others doing are hidden and not easy to access.

**What problems is JMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Jmp slaps me to visually communicate with non technical stakeholders. It helps them to see my technical story and visually explore other ways to understand the data.

  ### 39. Great Piece of Software I Use Daily in my Work

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kimberly S. | D, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 17, 2022

**What do you like best about JMP?**

I like the easy of use of the software, both in the scripting language and in the point and click. I use the Fit Model and Graphing tools all of the time. It compares to SAS, since it is a SAS product, in that I think it is user friendly and has a good support community of users and a professional certification program.

**What do you dislike about JMP?**

I think that JMP, like SAS, is not as flexible as open-source software like R or programming languages like SAS. There are several areas that I would like to see in improvement from JMP scripting language in particular, such as the ability to read in and/or reference other scripts within the data table and to collapse + expand chunks of code as in RStudio.

**Recommendations to others considering JMP:**

This is a great platform to start learning how to analyze data and to predict models.

**What problems is JMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am solving problems regarding building general templates using the app developer / user input modal window functionality in JMP for stability analysis and comparability analysis, for use in pharmaceutical manufacturing. **Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Pharmaceuticals | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 20, 2022

**What do you like best about JMP?**

JMP is a highly efficient software that allows you to visualize data and run statistical analysis. I use JMP for large datasets, other than bivariate/ multivariate analysis, T tests and ANOVA; JMP has graph builder for non statistical data presentation.

**What do you dislike about JMP?**

It is an expensive software, other than that it has no flaws, it is the best one out there, never faced any issue while using it.

**What problems is JMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows statistical analysis of large datasets and is an excellent software for the design of experiments. JMP comes with a new user training which makes implement this software easy within teams.

  ### 47. JMP - perfect software for analyzing your data

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Stefan-Bogdan I. | Formulation Researcher, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 04, 2022

**What do you like best about JMP?**

JMP is very useful in analyzing any type of data. For beginners the JMP Documentation Library coupled with the Sample Data examples are a very powerful resource to quickly learn and cope with different cases. I myself began to learn by looking into the Documentation Library and following the examples. As you delve deeper and begin to understand and learn your enthuziasm will grow and you'll start to love statistics. Even better, the capabilities of the DoE platforms and the different models that can be fit enables you to drastically reduce time in development!

**What do you dislike about JMP?**

When I started to use JMP and wanted to interpret some data, the explanations given when encircling the results were not very helpful in making me better understand the meaning. Another personal issue was with interpreting the graphs that accompanied the interpretation. However, if you're perseverant enough and learn basic statistics, you start to appreciate the graphs significantly since they are instrumental, especially when you have to present data to upper management.

**Recommendations to others considering JMP:**

My strong recommendation is to download the trial and to allocate a couple of days to try all the functionalities and to interpret their data to see for themselves how well-structured the results are, plus the accompanying graphs.

**What problems is JMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For now, I'm especially interested in designing and analyzing DoEs for method development and formulation development. Furthermore, I started to use MSA for assessing whether the methods are capable and stable or not and testing the Average BioEquivalence using the TOST procedure. Using JMP, I managed to create dozens of DoEs, and it immensely helped me better understand the relations between my factors.

  ### 48. By FAR the best

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Glenn C. | Master Black Belt, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 04, 2022

**What do you like best about JMP?**

Very intuitive. Tremendous flexibility and capability. As a 20 year user, I couldn't ask for more

**What do you dislike about JMP?**

The only downside is the cost. Organizations may pass it by, and miss a real opportunity.

**What problems is JMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Analysis of data big and small. Just today I used it on some survey data related to 5 star product ratings. Which is obviously a key input to overall business decisions.

  ### 49. Swiss pocket knife for data analytics

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mauro G. | Measurement and Data Management, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 10, 2022

**What do you like best about JMP?**

Graph builder: Let you intuitively explore your data by drag and drop. It helps a lot in live discussions to get a different view.
Scripting: Even if you don't know how to code. JMP helps you automate your steps and distribute them to other users which saves a lot of time and reduces copy/paste errors.

**What do you dislike about JMP?**

It can be overwhelming in regards to functionality and information displayed for new or non-statistician users. It helps that additional information and functions are hidden under the red triangle. It's a good mix for easy to use for beginners and useful toll for experts.

**What problems is JMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I repaced an Excel-VBS script with JMP which let me analyze more than 50 parts (because of file size) at once and reduced the time from import to get a graph from 4h to under 10s.

  ### 50. JMP is the best statistical analysis software available.
