It is really easy to use the application, it is not complex to create your own profile, it only takes a matter of minutes and then set the time you want to spend on it. The communication that allows you to communicate with users is of high quality in both video calls and chats, one of the best apps for those interested in learning languages. **What do you dislike about italki?** Something that I do not find pleasant about Italki is that to control the supply and demand within the application allows a limited number of teachers per student, which every year makes it more difficult to belong to the application and those who are already inside, generate income. The application has gift cards redeemable within the same for a certain number of lessons, but do not specify that these have an expiration date for less than a month, they should add that information to the card in addition to making it more its expiration date. **Recommendations to others considering italki:** Using the search filters in Italki can help you find teachers that you would not find by browsing the application on your own. Besides, if you are looking for a teacher with certain characteristics you can do it easily and save a lot of time with the filters. Do not choose a teacher without first doing a complete investigation on all the profile data because while the application allows teachers with good intentions to teach anyone, unfortunately it also opens the door to people who do not have the best intentions to contribute to the community, so make sure that the person you are going to pay is completely professional in what he does is important. **What problems is italki solving and how is that benefiting you?** Italki has worked for me to be able to give lessons to many people around the world, since apart from having my own tutor account I also receive lessons as a student of other languages to expand my vocabulary and to be able to give lessons in the future to more people. I have had a pleasant experience from both positions. As a tutor everything has been excellent, I have found enthusiastic students who follow to the letter each of my lessons and are improving, and as a student I have always found friendly teachers who are very professional in their area. I haven't had much luck: A few teachers have contacted me over the years but I didn't feel that they were qualified to teach (I used to teach French myself, years ago). The platform is well conceived and I'm sure that my experience would have been vastly different if I had try to learn a more common language. **What do you dislike about italki?** The messages history is limited to the last 6 months. I wish it could be in a bundle of classes for sale. As a learner, I like that I can browse countless language teachers to find the one or ones that are the best fit for me in terms of personality, scheduling, and price. **What do you dislike about italki?** As a teacher, I dislike the unpredictable nature of the marketplace. In fairness, italki does attempt to control supply and demand buy limiting the number of teachers they allow onto the platform. However, in recent years, it has become progressively more difficult to sustain consistent earnings. **Recommendations to others considering italki:** At the moment there seems to be a greater supply of English teacher than demand, so anyone wishing to teach should know that going in. Each teacher really varies so find the one that works best for you. Different price points for lessons which makes it easy to budget. The community is great as well. **What do you dislike about italki?** The way you make payments is a tad annoying. I often opt to pay via credit card, the company is based in China and sometimes the charges won't go through. Purchasing credits is an odd way of paying because there's always a balance leftover adn it can feel like a waste or never ending cycle of trying to use all credits. **What problems is italki solving and how is that benefiting you?** If you are a company who is international, it makes sense to use this product so you can talk to customers/leads easier. It's a great way to meet friends and if you're motivated, you can really get a lot out of it. **What do you dislike about italki?** The free portion is hit or miss, because there are many people on the website who may not be using it with the best of intentions. For the paid services, you are also betting on the ability of the tutor to prepare well, and higher premiums will allow you to increase your chances of quality language learning sessions. More free tools and resources for the free portion would be useful to help guide users. **What problems is italki solving and how is that benefiting you?** Using italki as a service-learning tool and having students invest time and energy into developing a relationship with an international pen-pal with the intentions of language learning has been interesting.
